I love these videos but as a life-long (56 yrs) resident of southern Missouri I have to say, we DO NOT call it Missour'a' and in fact we find it very irritating when people do. And don't judge the whole state by St. Louis and Kansas City. The Ozarks, where I live, are beautiful. Rolling hills, forest, multiple lakes and rivers. I travel for a living and I have seen the world. Yes, I would rather live near the ocean or mountains, but Missouri isn't the worst place to live, not even in the Midwest (thousands of miles of flat cornfields in most of the states).

I agree ., cleveland is my appeal for Ohio at the moment. I’ve lived in Palm Beach FL, Chicago, Buffalo, Boston and visited far more cities. Cleveland is one of my favorite cities ever. The attitude people have for this city; the love, respect, admiration, and loyalty. They Love their browns and do not care if they are going through a losing streak. I read that Cleveland has never had trouble selling tickets for their home games despite lackluster seasons that went on going for years. People still love the Browns and I have so much respect for that . Just like they love their city. Every city that I’ve been to, including Columbus .. The same does not exist. The closest city that may resemble would be Detroit. Not in terms of crime or population decline or whatever else but in terms of love from local citizens. Columbus and their buckeyes are used to winning a lot but when they will lose a game I see people trash the buckeyes who were just cheering before.. I cannot imagine the same fans standing by them if they experience what the browns have. Not true loyalty. Cleveland is definitely thriving and it’s downtown is booming and it’s going under a massive resurgence. The energy and positivity is the best that you can find in Ohio. Downtown Cleveland over downtown Columbus or cincy any day. More things to do And the most densely populated city in the state.

Medical, car manufacturing and banking. Everyone always has a job. We’ve never really suffered job issues, even during bad times. Great healthcare second to Indianapolis. Our hospitals rank 2 and 3rd in the nation. And we have lots of them. Hey maybe you should do worst Midwest cities. 😂 Btw, we don’t go-for cover for a tornado until it gets a block away. Hi ;) I'm European (from Portugal) so this question might sound strange for you guys :) I know the story of the 13 colonies and all the land gained to the west. But I found funny part of the US being called "Midwest" if there is no "Mideast" :D I know it's in the middle of the way to the West, but still I found it funny. Great channel ;) Cheers.

@@BezmenovDisciple Hi ;) Hope my answer is correct. Since 2001 the use and possession of drugs stopped being treated as a crime. Of course, if a person is caught with some kilos that are still a crime. I don't know how much grams for personal use are considered under being considered a crime. To sell it's illegal and a crime. But if you are caught doing drugs (heavy or not) you are treated like a person who needs treatment and not a criminal. If it’s marijuana maybe the Police just say to throw that away or confiscate the drugs and nothing happens. But if it’s the hard ones, you are redirected to a Drugs Dissuasion Committee. So you can be seen and probably being medicated with methadone. The person may be obliged to do some community service or pay a fine. It's not a drug's paradise, but people are by law considered patients, not criminals. I think I'm pretty close to what is the reality here. Cheers ;)

Missouri and Kansas go by the heartland..
@jakewherley3301 Жыл бұрын
When the Midwest was named “Midwest”, it originally came from the “Northwest Territories” which included Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and some parts of Minnesota. At that time, places like Ohio and Indiana were considered “west” because the rest of the known country was so Eastern such as Vermont, New York and Connecticut. So back in the 1800’s, when your family said you’re “going west” that generally meant Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, because that’s what it meant back then. Obviously now it’s different with actually far west states being established, but it’s more of a time period thing, as well as a cultural thing. Many German immigrants inhabited the midwestern lands and therefore, the Midwest states are culturally closer to each other. Even though Ohio borders, say, West Virginia, it has much more in common culturally with places like Iowa and Missouri.

The only "bad" state in the midwest is Illinois, and that's more of a chicago/corrupt politician issue, not the people
@burningsnow98702 жыл бұрын
Eh that's a bit of a stretch. Ours gets the most publicity when it comes to corruption. A lot of neighboring states aren't much better. We have a lot of corruption in Chicago granted. And a lot of that does seem to be due to federal policies on donations and the like. Police wise, I've heard and seen small improvements to deal with our police issue both policy wise (sorta) and people wise I've seen a lot of my college peers going into law enforcement with the intentions to join internal affairs. And don't forget southern Illinois, personally speaking I've seen a lot of nepotism and buddy buddy corruption happen in the smaller towns.

So, oddly, I watched a very similar vid earlier about which states have the most "sealed indictments" (for organized crime prosecution). The "top 3" states you gave have 0-50. The bottom 5 you listed are in the top tier (and NC is in the next tier, still pretty high, split into sections) The DEMOGRAPHICS behind organized crime tend to revolve around known bootleg highways, the I-95 Corridor being PROMINENT in that calculation. Its fairly intriguing to add the location of known "trafficking highways" into your State/ County / City calculus. The History of the Ohio River Valley (bootleg route) dates back to the 1500's when they were shipping textiles and Bourbon down the Ohio to the Mississippi. That history explains ALOT about the Prohibition Bootleg Route to Kentucky, Al Capone, the river boats, the indian raids, etc. Rally Races currently take place along this route (also not mentioned in your summary) of classic American made cars that run on NITROUS. Considering the Kentucky Derby is this month, all of that seems fairly relevant. If you look at changes in the Census over 20 years, the I-95 Corridor is fairly shocking (Especially Pennsylvania). Some things you left out about Ohio : its a manufacturing hub of military hardware, such as TANKS (and their parts). Dayton is very close to Wright Patterson Base. You really did not say the main points about Ohio: no mention of the military industrial complex, no mention of the huge (high ranking) portion of jobs that are part of the Medical Manufacturing Industry (and Hospice Industry), both of which are considered "the workhorse" portions of the Economy (and resulting social institutions like Universities, etc). You also did not mention the INDIAN TERRITORIES which is something that makes all of the Midwest more interesting, generally. What about the Serpent Mound? Archeology? That area is a huge tourist center for rock hounding, water falls, etc The vid with the organized crime break down is here, start at min 4 for the map : kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp2lfWmifJ54gqM
