Bombay saw himself in Adam. He knew Riley saw potential and was willing to work Adam like a mule and eventually break him like what happened to Bombay under Riley's coaching. This wasn't just a power move to gain a new skilled player but because he knew how good Adam could be if he wasn't pushed over his limits under Reiley.

It would have been a better thing if Lane Smith came back to reprise Jack Riley role and bring everything full circle as his son lol. I bet if Estevez came back full time they would have done it but with him working on War At Home movie at same time they were lucky to get Estevez at all.

I wholeheartedly agree with you! I wouldn’t want to play for Coach Jack Reilly, because he is nothing more than a dirty rotten cheater! The way he stirred Gordon away from wanting to play hockey and trying to keep another child on his roster who was ineligible. It really disgusts me that winning games is more important to an adult than letting the children have fun and play properly. Yes, it’s just a movie, but this definitely makes Reilly one of the biggest villains in sports movies. Because he’s taking things away from the kids, in makes me despise him even more!

Riley was the biggest villain of the Mighty Ducks movie the villains in the second and third showed respect to the Mighty Ducky Riley never showed any type of respect at the end he was a big villain he was probably responsible for Gordon becoming angry and arrogant and cared about winning if it means cheating at the beginning movie but Gordon knew Riley was bad during the middle of the movie.

That "you were a never was" line im sure had to sting a bit you can tell by the look on his face. But he quickly got over it and said to himself ya know that's ok I have finally moved on and now its time to kick some ass.

And that other dude *loves* coaching pee wee hockey. The rich lawyer, on the other hand, only became such because that other dude wounded his passion for hockey, thus leading him to a lucrative yet ethically dirty and compromised law career.

Jack Riley is both the best and worst coach in the series Player skill development =best Moral=worst. It's not worth playing if you cant win, its not worth winning if you cant win big. Basically win it all cost

@@634983 thats one thing that the film never specified. Never specified if he played college hockey, minor league hockey or juniors in canada. All we know was he was a pee wee coach in the twin citiee area, that most parents wanted or would have liked him to coach their kids, just because he was great at player development, but he didnt develop team players just sore winners

Gordon is in the right, at least about Banks. I mean, he was upset, and talked smack about the kids. However, he was just being sarcastic, on the contrary, that's no way to talk about children.

Competitiveness and winning can be addicting and sometimes be detrimental to someone’s health. Also, it can turn people into jerks and push teammates away. People forget that the word game is a hunting term for the animals the hunters are hunting, sport to means for pleasure which is also a hunting term, in case you sports fanatics don’t know. I played sports and I loved it for the athleticism and better myself physically.
