Daedalus has discovered the crystal clay. A clay to which whomever's form is cast of it-their very touch becomes deadly. He creates a statue of Hercules in hopes that he will retreat into seclusion - never to be seen again.

Even as kids, we always wondered why the people of Calydon never executed Daedalus or at least a 30 year sentence. Then we grew up and realized this is closer to the real world than we imagined. Pot heads get locked up for 30 years. Rapists get out in 5.

These are, like, four minutes long! Most cartoons are twice that length. But I guess four is enough.

I wasn't around at the time it originally came out, but I think the idea of the 4 minute cartoon was so it could be mixed with other short cartoons in a half hour timeslot. When I watched it in the early 1970's-it was aired that way, mixed with other Canadian cartoons such as "the new adventures of Pinocchio", "Tales of the Wizard of Oz" & Max, the 2000 year old Mouse. It later aired as a half hour show on Global TV in Canada with 5 cartoons(only one intro and one extro) and then later on YTV Canada with 4 Cartoons-each having it's own intro and extro. Same goes for it's more recent airings on Teletoon Retro. Sadly there, they never aired all of the Herc cartoons, thus the reason I posted these from the YTV days.

Peppa Pig is 4 1/2 minutes long and is still around to this day with new episode, debuting in 2004. That aspect has not died down in the last 50 years or so.
