In July 1971, we didn't hang in the harness like that. You went up, the release happened, you came down. Only if there was a wind shift or a gusting was the process delayed. My barracks for NCOCS, 70th Company, were next to the towers and it was observed that all through from March through June that the during the Tower Week phase they generally just went up, the release happened and they came down, though I do remember a wind condition that brought them back down until the wind abated enough to allow continuation, no sense in letting someone sit up there for a long duration. Our Black hats were very protective then, as they are now. Safety first. (It looked like fun when I was going through the NCO Academy, so I went Airborne too, and it was fun. Good times... 50 years ago. )

Tarzan was the name of the second tower. Even though only two towers are used, anyone remember what the name of the third tower was?
