The double rings on the "5-ring" Zulu (an American-designed take on the classic British G10--what most commonly call a "NATO") are for securing the watch strap in place so it doesn't put any pressure on the spring bars when worn. You put the watch in place on the strap, then feed the strap through both rings, and finally pass the strap back through one of the rings to essentially "lock" the strap in place. When this is done, the strap can be worn on the wrist, and no matter how you bend or flex your wrist, no pressure will be put on the strap that translates to bending or pulling on the spring bars. This protects the spring bars from possibly being bent or broken due to wrist flex while worn, something commonly noted when wearing virtually any normal strap, bracelet, a single-pass designed strap (such as a "3-ring zulu), or even a G10 (NATO).

What a nice, simplistic, yet very attractive watch. Everything you need and nothing else. And being a Veteran myself, I am glad that it was built by a veteran. Especially, a marine. Very interested and will be looking into this one. Great review. Thank you.

Lovely looking watch but where's the minute track? Can't be used for diving without one.

I agree, and was one of my negatives on the piece. But the esthetics of this watch are beyond awesome. The inner chapter ring with military time is a great touch too
@user-ty5kf2zs9f2 жыл бұрын
TBF I don't think this model is designed around diving. The Neptune would be a better fit there.

I noticed the dial on the atlas doesn't have markers for the minutes/seconds. Does this affect how you read the time on the watch? Or are people able to read the time accurately even with the lack of minute/second markings on the dial?
@threehandhunter2 жыл бұрын
Not really, but then again I only really care about the 5 min markets (bezel) as usually I am more concerned about a meeting or a place I need to be. The simplicity of the dial is stunning to look at!

I’m an 03 too, but just do not see the hype of this watch at all. The value to dollar ratio is bad with the cheap movements for an $800 watch and the designs are unoriginal, one looking exactly like a Seamaster 300M

Hey Devil Dog! For me, it is supporting another Marine and his family. He's really managed to bring together servicemembers around the globe, which is a feat in itself. For me, it is a good cause, especially in this hobby! But I do understand your POV. Cheers!

@@threehandhunter I’ve been hearing that argument. I’m always trying to buy American, especially vet-owned, myself. I just feel this company is trying to take advantage of all of us being vets, especially the ones who know nothing about watches. The sales will be there because the marketing does its job, I don’t see a reason to hike up the prices, especially when we are the target demographic. End rant. Semper Fi, brother

42mm is just too small. Men are taller now and more muscular 42mm is fine for a little fella but I am 6’4 235 lbs and basically a well groomed yeti. My wrist is just shy of 10” and a 42mm looks ridiculous. Watch makers should make at least 1 48mm+ watch. When I become president of the world I will sign an exec order stating that they must or I will invade their nation

If you guys don't want to deal with these waitlists but love a solid divewatch with the crown on the left at 7 or 8 o'clock just get yourself a Citizen Promaster ref. NY0040-09W or something like that. I have one for 20years and it still runs flawlessly. And they cost ⅓ of the sangin. Don't buy this just because garand thumb wears it 😉
@threehandhunter2 жыл бұрын
I do love my NY0040. But I can appreciate a microbrand that also goes out on a limb and doesn’t use a bunch of off the shelf parts either. 👍
