It's really amazing how we're part of this big universe. I live in a big city, and every night I always look out of my window hoping that I would see milky way (which is impossible because of Light Pollution). Seeing the moon itself already amaze me about how amazing our whole universe. Thank you for this video.

Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the film. I also live in an area where only a limited number of stars can be seen. I always look forward to the spring and summer when we hit the road to all the great dark places where we film these scenes! Already planned out the travel and filming scedule for 2020.

I’ve become an astronomer because of this channel. I have greatly appreciated what you have done on KZbin and could not be any more amazed by what these videos show. Every night I go outside to look at the Milky Way over my head. I have already found tons of objects in space using a telescope. Keep up the great work and I hope to expect another video.

THANK YOU for that wonderful comment! I love making these films as it allows me to spend time traveling to these amazing places with my son who helps me, and view the night sky in a way which few people ever get a chance to. It's comments from people like you that help inspire me to keep making these films! Best regards, Barry Chall

Increíble... impresionante las tomas que han grabado y que gentilmente lo comparten, por nuestros medios y recursos no es posible ir personalmente para apreciar esas bellezas naturales, nuevamente muchas gracias por este gran trabajo, de muy alta calidad. Felicitaciones.

Thank you very much for your very kind comment. We're glad you enjoyed and appreciated the film. A lot of time, effort, and passion, goes into making these films. We were hoping to start on a new Milky Way film project this spring and summer, but that might not be possible now because of what's happening in the world. We'll see. Best regards, Barry Chall

What camera and slider that are you using? It's really really beautiful footage
@Tarnway04122 жыл бұрын
Thanks Hassan! For this film, I used 3 Sony A7RII cameras. Each had a different lens- Sony 28mm 2.0, Sony 55mm 1.8, & Zeiss Batis 18mm 2.8. I very rarely use sliders and prefer to do all movement in post- Ken Burns effect.

That's soo amazing... If I went to the countryside away from London,UK, would I be able to see a similar view?
@Tarnway04124 жыл бұрын
I wish I could give you a better answer, but it been many years since I last visited the UK. I would suggest that you see if there are any amateur astronomy clubs around and try to ask them. They might be able to tell you where a dark sky area is in your region. But, keep in mind, what you will see will be quite impressive but won't have as much detail as a long exposure through a high resolution camera with a good lens and low light sensor. But again, it will still be quite spectacular and we'll worth seeing! I know we never get tired of it!
@arifkamal68704 жыл бұрын
@@Tarnway0412 the thing is I don't know any astronomer clubs or anything and all I know is that in the countryside there are no lights at all. Is light pollution the only thing I need to take into consideration or are there more factors?
@Tarnway04124 жыл бұрын
The main thing is light pollution from towns or cities. Obviously, the weather is another factor as clouds aren't helpful. Also, it is better if there is little or no air pollution. Right now in my area, there are lots of forest fires and lots of smoke al over the place. Not good! One other very important thing I should mention is that the best Milky Way viewing, or photography for that matter, is done at times when there is no moon in the sky. The moon will make the sky so bright, it will be hard to see as many stars. Go online and check the lunar calander for those best times.
@arifkamal68704 жыл бұрын
@@Tarnway0412 so in the countryside the main city is many miles away and there's no light pollution, apart from like one or two houses. Let's say the moon wasn't there, would I be able to have a spectacular view or will the air pollution still come from the main city?
@Tarnway04124 жыл бұрын
If there is a large city even several miles away, there could be some light pollution, but it would be lower on the horizon in the direction of that city. As for air pollution, you would really need to take a drive to the area you're interested in during the daytime to see how clear the air is. Lights from just a few houses shouldn't be a problem.

We had planned on doing a major night timelapse film project this spring and summer. But UNFORTUNATELY, this COVID thing has seriously interrupted some of our travel plans. We're really HOPING to be able to do at least half of the travel and filming we had intended to do. We're trying to figure out some alternative places to go so MAYBE, enough for a new film this fall. It would probably need to be a mix of some new scenes with some ones from the previous films. Stey tuned!!

Hi, is this how it looks with the naked eye or does the camera lens’ enhance it? Thank you
@Tarnway04124 жыл бұрын
Great question! The camera captures much more detail and color than can be seen by the naked eye. That being said, in the dark places where we take these, what can be seen is still VERY IMPRESSIVE!

wonder how much hdd space this occupies
@Tarnway04124 жыл бұрын
HDD space, this one almost scared me! The sequences were taken with 43 mega pixal Sony A7R2s in uncompressed raw. The 5 minute film consisted of about 9000 still images- about 1 terabyte. Of course, then those raw images had to be color graded in one program and sequenced in the video editing program. So, even more drive space. Every year I keep having to buy more storage drives. We're planning on starting another multi-month project this spring which will probably be another terabyte or so.
