Thanks for posting these. The son, "Lew Conover," was played by Academy Award winner Bobby Driscoll, here credited as Robert Driscoll. Also, note that the role of "Janet Conover," the new wife, was played by 37-year-old Jocelyn Brando, Marlon Brando's older sister.

That's because the boy "Lew Conover" was portrayed by Academy Award winner Bobby Driscoll, here credited as Robert Driscoll. His is a very sad story. He was on contract with Walt Disney Studios as a young boy and starred in such movies as "Song of the South," "So Dear to My Heart," "Treasure Island," and "The Window" (a classic noir suspense/thriller from RKO.) When he went through puberty, he had very severe acne which caused the roles to dry up and Disney cancelled his contract. He managed to find some work, though, such as this role and a few other anthology TV shows until the 60's when he went to New York unsuccessfully looking for stage work. He ended up joining Andy Warhol's avant-garde art group "The Factory" to concentrate on his artistic talents. In 1968, two boys playing in a deserted tenement found his body. He had died of heart failure brought on by his use of heroin. There was no identification on the body and nobody in the neighborhood could identify him so his unclaimed body was buried in an unmarked grave in Potter's Field. A year later, they did identify him by fingerprints but his body remains in Potter's Field. A very sad story indeed. As for the story, it was written by Halsey Melone who, coincidentally, also wrote the teleplay for the episode "The Ordeal of S-38" of the 50's TV series "The Silent Service," which also featured Bobby Driscoll.

The quality of this episode from The Millionaire is exceptionally good. Wish KZbin can lay their hands on similar picture quality for The Millionaire: Jerry Mitchell with the gorgeous star, LISA GAYE - 1960

Marvin Miller played Michael Anthony, Paul Frees furnished the voice of John Beresford Tipton. Miller and Frees were two of the biggest voice artists in Hollywood at the time and can be heard on hundreds of films, TV shows, and commercials from that era.

21:28, Reel M-2 C-63, an iconic tune by William Loose (1910-1991), I met this composer in 1984, and on my 4th album, “The William Loose Songbook Album” I recorded a cover version in a “Phil Spector” style, titled “The Loose Spector Song”, and the album was released in 1999.

I always ache for Bobby Driscoll. How badly Disney treated him...how things changed when he was no longer 'cute'. And in this episode, he shows himself to be a fine young actor, and could have gone on to....

But what's the episode where "John Beresford Tipton" (Paul Frees) actually MEETS his client? That happened only once in the series.

Always loved The Millionaire, from my childhood; however as an adult, with an adult perspective, why not assist orphans, unwed mothers, those on skid row/the homeless? Love the concept of giving, 'cause the reality is "you can't take it with you",. AND, "to whom much is given, much is required".

There is a possible discrepancy in the number of episodes in the series. Most sources say that there were 206 episodes, but several online sources (who, admittedly could be mistaken) point to an episode (S03E07-The Denny Havens Story) that was originally broadcast on either 17OCT1956 or 24OCT1956. Checking back on the TV sections of various newspapers of that era, I find that there is indeed an unaccounted for "extra" episode of The Millionaire broadcast then, however none of the TV Schedule sources I've found give specifics about which episode it was. As the rest of the time/dates for episodes ARE accounted for, I am very inclined to believe that that Denny Havens episode DID exist, but has slipped through the cracks. When moved into syndication, 16 episodes were kept back ("removed from syndication") and the Denny Havens episode would make a total of 17 "unavailable" episodes. So, unless there is a change in status, there are 190 episodes available, I have 185 of them...so far. The 17 REMO(removed) episodes are: S01E02 S02E13 S03E07 S04E09 S05E14 S06E25 S02E26 S03E28 S04E11 S05E21 S06E27 S04E24 S05E24 S06E33 S04E28 S05E33 S04E30
