Great post. Agree w/ everything. Khris has been such a pro in MKE and a great dude, but he is getting cooked every night. Maybe rest him until February or so? But as of now, bucks starting perimeter guys cannot keep up on D. I think you are right, need a wing defender in the starting line-up, also the young guys dont need the ball to be helpful, which could help balance the starting linup. Giannis needs to improve his decision-making, bigtime.

They started the comeback efforts way too late. Blowing too many easy layups costed them the game. Only surprised they actually made it back to 3 pt deficit given how poorly they played. If you've watched the first 40 mins you would have easily thought they'd been blown out by 30+ so that's the only positive takeaway

@@devinjenkins9964No lead is safe in the NBA with the the way teams shoot the 3 ball. The difference I see in Boston this season compared to before is when teams make that late push, they are making plays to slow down the rally and win. It is hard to blow reams out by 15 or more when teams can go hot and cold from 3 in a blink of an eye.
@Tankt0ptig3r11 ай бұрын
I only say that is the positive because if you look back at bud era bucks, these comeback attempts wont even happen cos he would let the team get blown out by 30-40 pts

One takeaway for me. Giannis needs to improve in his decision making. There was a point when Brook was opened twice in the paint but he decided to shoot and it was air ball and the other was a foul call. There are some games Giannis needs to just attract double team or even 3 players near paint and find someone to pass to instead of brute-forcing especially against elite teams. Kick the ball out to Dame, Beasley, Khris, .. Another thing to note is, this is not the best version of Celtics, they will still improve and when they do, Bucks had better be ready as well. I like the fact Griffin is calling for timeouts at the right times and he is not afraid to temporarily take Giannis out temporarily when he sees he is making wrong plays.
@trewic867811 ай бұрын
i don’t think the celtics will improve very much. they do this every year except for 2022. they start out strong and peak sometime before all star break, then they flatline. this is probably close to the best the celtics will get. the bucks on the other hand are just going to keep ramping up

What allows the Celtics to look as good as they are is 3 pt variation. The only person in the starting lineup that's a true dead-eye shooter is Kirstaps. Just think the Bucks gotta eat those 3 pt barrages and focus on their own game. Eventually the 3's came down to earth

The problem and the solution in Giannis. Primarily his ego and lack of insight into his limitations. This should be a discussion point. Giannis is his own worst enemy against tough competition. He gets angry, his ego gets in the way. He does not facilitate for the talent/teammates around him. The ball does not move as well. Instead he tries to be the Kobe/Jordan and carry the team on his shoulders. He does not have that type of offensive game. However, that does not mean that he cannot be the difference in facilitating wins. Smart, well coached, teams have used Giannis's hubris against him (aka celtics, heat). Forcing shots around the rim when you are amped up and missing them is not productive. Wasted trips up the floor without a getting a look at a good uncontested shot is not productive. Giannis, bringing the ball up the court is not productive when you have Damian Lillard. Giannis should NEVER bring the ball up the court when you have a floor general like Damian Lillard on the court. He needs to accept that he is not a point guard. He has unusual ball skills for a 7 foot tall human, but he will still never be as good as a top 75 all time NBA point guard. As expected in a small sample size, the Bucks offense has looked its best when Damian is running the show. There are more assists and the ball moves better. The bucks lost two games in a row and looked bad when Damian Lillard was not there, even though in one game Giannis scored over 50 points. The bucks 5 game win streak, where their offense was humming and Giannis was scoring, was keyed by games when Damian Lillard had the ball and had over 10 assists a game. In fact it seems like the pairing of Lopez and Lillard looks the best, because Lopez accepts that he is a center. Giannis will get many more buckets, and much easier shots, if he allows Lillard to facilitate the offense. More importantly, there will be less forced bad shots. There were several times in the game last night when Lillard was looking for Giannis to pass the ball to him as they advance the ball up the court. Instead Giannis decided to bring the ball up the court and tried to take on Drew Holliday at the point of attack. That is wasted time and energy. This is what is so unique about Jokic. He accepts what the defense gives him. He does not make the game hard for himself, but finds ways to influence the game even if he is not scoring. He will focus on rebounding and passing and be happy with an efficient 20 pts. As a Bucks fan, I really hope that Giannis can figure this out soon. The team is just scratching the surface of how dominant it can be when he accepts this mindset change. As he said "it is about winning".
@Aluvsloans11 ай бұрын
And you can add his defensive effort and fundamentals are bad - specifically when he helps off his man but isn’t trying to block a shot ? Why ? He can be the best defender in the NBA and I think we are going to hear rumblings about his attitude and locker room issues which to me is great because that’s your peers saying we need more - the last staff let him get away with murder bad shots poor defensive effort decisions because we won but now two years later of not getting over the hump gotta change and it starts with you - the other thing is why doesn’t he hang around the rim more on offensive possessions ? He is behind the three point line and it’s helping the defense him being near the rim creates so much havoc - he needs to get back to doing the dirty work rebs blocks tipped passes - if he is 23-14-6 we winning the championship Not 30/11/4 rebs go up assist go up points go down

To Justin’s comments - I think for most contenders there should not be moral victories in losses. However, this is a team with a new coach learning a new scheme, with a new superstar and new role players. So as we’ve said all along this is a work in progress, we are not at our final form yet. So I think it’s okay to have some of these moral victories at this point in the season. Secondly, while I agree Boston’s defense is good at forcing misses around the rim, we just straight up smoked like 8 layups tonight. Cam Payne missed a wide open one, Giannis had a couple point blank misses with very little contest. Dame had the dunk. So I think most of those had nothing to do with Boston’s defense. I’ll say there was probably 5-6 that we just straight up missed, and the rest may have been altered by Boston’s defensive presence

Not that we want to be a team that prides ourselves with good losses, but a few things from the game 1) last years bucks team would’ve lost this game by 25 points. The open offense we have this season allowed us to stay within that 12-16 point range for most of the game which helped us get back into it at the end. This is something we have not had before and should be excited about 2) think of all the bunnies we blew tonight. Cam Payne missed a wide open layup, Giannis missed a few layups, dame missed the dunk, few transition possessions where we just threw it away. Those are all possessions that every other game we capitalize on. Instead of down 21 in the 4th maybe we would be down 10-12 3) Our defense certainly needs improvement, but some of it was just the Celtics not missing. Prichard hitting contested step backs, jaylen brown making Kobe fadeaways, porzingis who couldn’t make a 3 for weeks finds his shot. Ultimately, it was just one of those nights. And we saw that Boston needed every single one of those points to hold us off on a bad night. This felt way different than last year. We played Boston 3 times last year. First time we got blown out on Christmas by 25. Second time we needed a 14 point OT comeback to beat their bench at home. Third time we lost by 40 at home. What we saw tonight was a dramatic improvement from last year. I’ll say this, I almost think I would’ve felt worse if we won by 3 but hit like 20 threes and they made like 6. So it is what it is, go beat Washington Friday and continue to get better

This team needs a seasoned coach. I get it, everything is new blah blah blah… but it’s not. Giannis and Dame have been in the league for 11 years and are top 100 of all time. Boston figured it out right out the gate. We have a great supporting cast I feel with dudes like Lopez and Middleton if dude can ever get healthy. This coach looks like a deer in headlights. No pun intended. Dudes in over his head. Crap win over a crap Wizards team tonight. Don’t let players pick the coach
@Fruehlingseffekt11 ай бұрын
If you told me one team A had 101 FGA's and the other team B had 84 FGA's I would pick team A to have won the game easily. Well not this game, even though Bucks created a whole 17 more shots this game they fell short to convert easy buckets. If we pay more attention to detail and stop digging ourselves holes in 1st quarters we should be good going forward, I dont think the C's are as scary as they used to be, they look very beatable for us even this early tbh.

@eric0215611 ай бұрын
Bucks perimeter defense needs to be fixed still. Boston offense spaces opposing teams out with focus on outside (3pt) shooters and attckibg the middle.. You have to focus on defending this to stop their offense. Mazulla is focused on utilizing this.. Horford can still be a good defender for them.
@jasonemery803911 ай бұрын
I think this game could of been worse for bucks more than they know. In the playoffs you’re going to start seeing teams taking advantage of matchups more and you will see teams actively looking to score on Damien Lillard, and I don’t think the Celtics took advantage of this enough because it was just a regular season game. The bucks being undersized with dame will hurt them when it matters if they can’t play team D

In a game where nothing was going in for 1 half, honestly we looked good and it would be a very close game in the play offs. Remember, every time we played Celtics we were blown out last few years and still went to 7 back in the day. This is closer than we think considering Giannis shot so badly. I don't think he was slowed down. I think he was just slow himself honestly. Still bad game overall. BUT, from having every year blowouts when Giannis scored 40+ to having Giannis playing shit and still are -3 only?? I will take that...
@emceefan11 ай бұрын
I listened to Giannis' postgame interview and he said he had a cold so he was probably not processing things like normal, when he was asked about a play in the game. Makes sense as to why he missed so many shots in the game (especially at the rim) that he would normally make.

I’m worried y’all. 1. Dame is not a panacea. 2. Neither is Griff. 3. We all love and worship Giannis, but there have been gaps in his offense since day one. 3.1. Offense has always been the Bucks’ achilles. 4. The young guys aren’t ready. I love them, but they’re not playing at the level we see in the NBA. 5. Brooke is old. 6. Beas is too small, but I love his offensive fire. #FearTheDeer 🦌🦌

No one's calling fouls for Sam Houser, no one pays to see him play. Steve Kerr was allegedly one time saying, They called a foul on him instead of Michael Jordan he asked the referee why, the ref told him because no one pays to see you play😂. We can type in 70% of the NBA players who are not stars for that same statement.😂

We actually played well against Boston overall. Just got in a hole that was hard to get out of. Statistically we had more rebs, points in the paint and fewer turnovers. Milwaukee starters actually outscored Boston starters 94 to 88. Milwaukee just missed ALOT of shots. Easy, at the rim shots...and even though they lost, I STILL feel optimistic

Yeah, we will be fine. We need to commit to playing the Young Bucks. Marjon was able to force Jaylen Brown into tough shots. Everyone else, Jaylen Brown just blew right by them.

Way too hard on the Bucks guys. Apart from the slow start we got it together we showed our offensive power and got back in. As Dame said on the post game press, 1 extra pass and we would have won this game.

I’ll be honest I don’t understand why we just don’t over exaggerate on brown and just stay on he’s right arm. I’m telling you look at this guys highlights-or anything. It’s all going right nothing left. Like today anytime he had the ball in he’s left hand he would pass it right away. Look at how Ajax was guarding him, he was making him go left. We can expose him he’s another James harden. We need to bring the James harden right arm defense.
