I relate - I am trying to build a freelance illustration career and I also have a youtube channel. I spend most my weekends at home just working on both things all day or resting from the week. But I've JUST moved to Japan a few months ago and I'm from the states, it's been sort of a little dream of mine to live here as I've studied japanese for like 15 years. Then I spend all day in my one room apartment. Chasing a goal. Yesterday I went to get a smoothie from 711 in the evening and there's a little river by my home. I went to look at it. I heard traditional music across the river. I said to myself I didn't have time to check it out, I had mroe work to do. But I went anyway. I ended up at a small temple's like summer festivities? There was like food and like fast drum music and little kid games and some people were dressed in yukata. I got kinda choked up. Isn't this why I moved? To see new things? I keep chasing a dream so I can experience more but then I don't participate in the world. At least that's what I took away from this. Sorry for long message!

Yess! Exactly! I’m so glad that you went to check out the festival coz that’s the reason why you moved to this country in the first place 💕 I love it when I end up at an event like that randomly, it’s the beauty of actively participating in life 😊

Hi Mako... I too used to drag doing household chores. But one thing I learnt that changed my mindset towards these chores is to be grateful and count my blessings. I am very grateful that I have clothes to wash and hang to dry, a house to clean and dishes to wash. We have taken all these things for granted that we forgot to appreciate the things that we have (i.e. clothes to wear, house to provide shelter / protection and food to eat). Once again, another great video from you and thanks for sharing.

thank you so much and that is a beautiful perspective! so true, we forget to be grateful for the things that we own!

Girl live your life…I don’t have any goals but I live my life and enjoy each day….
@jonathankarsten87546 ай бұрын
Hi Mako. This video reminded me of the quote "If you have more than three priorities. You don't have any. - Jim Collins." Having a long list of goals causes decision fatigue and anxiety about which ones to do, which ones to leave and then you beat yourself up when you don't get to all of them. If you use the 80/20 principle as a filter example, two out of every ten things on your list will give you 80% of your results. Our most precious resource is time, but what we focus on creates our results. Less is more as the saying goes. Thank you for sharing your insights with us.

I cant explain how much I needed this video. At first, I didnt even think of watching it because it didnt seem "productive" enough, but I'm glad I paused and mindfully watched it without worrying it would be a "waste of time" -- it came on the right time. Some of us are so focused on optimizing every single second of our day just for the sake of the life we dream about, that we end up not allowing ourselves to pause and life, simply enjoying. Thank you so, so so much Mako for this beautiful video

No one can validate one's existence. We are a success the day we are born. What one considers success after that is desire. Nothing wrong with that just hits different. Understanding contentment is underrated. Stay Up Mako, stay strong go long. Live in Love of Life and enjoy this experience it goes by in a blink of the eye. Embrace the beauty and the pain it's all so temporal. Thank you for your time and perspective -Peace

Great video - a lot of self improvement, goals, activities etc is just survival process dressed up in different guises. It's just basic processes, but the modern trap is to rev it up to such an extent that you lose the beauty and joy of living, not to mention losing your state of ease (which quickly becomes dis-ease!)

I agree, life should not always be planned and allow certain things to unfold. The reality is, there are things which are out of our control and the only thing that we can do is to accept and adapt. Thanks Mako for this video 😊

I don’t have any big goals either. As Eckhart Tolle wrote, “Doing is never enough if you neglect Being.” He goes on to say that our egos believe we will eventually be saved by doing. “If you are in the grip of the ego, you believe that by doing more and more you will eventually accumulate enough 'doings' to make yourself feel complete at some point in the future. You won't. You will only lose yourself in doing.” So, I’ve switched from once having a scarcity mindset to now a mindset of abundance. I already have all I need in life. ❤

Thank you so much for your video. I finished my graduate when i decided my dream job, but unfortunately i gave up easily because caused frustration and stress. I have set a new goal for my future and i am working on it, but i don't know if i will get that job or not. Sometimes I just go to on the flow instead of chasing dreams or goals. I haven't achieved my goal yet and i hate myself. I don't know when i will be able to live peacefully forever. I just reached my dream achievements when something happened and i was kicking back to the same position, so i started again. I gained clarity my mind from you and It helped me.
