btw, this is for anyone wondering the difference between Mirai and other BotNets/Netware. Mirai would infect computers using the typical ssh protocol (allows control of a computers command line remotely), but it would also give instructions to infect other computers using the same batch. Bassically Mirai would poison (infect) outgoing syn packets. If a computer was exposed or an infected person was visiting a non https website, the infected traffic would clone the batch file to the server, and possibly others using the server.

If you want to know what happened to Anna-Senpai (actual name Paras Jha) here you go: The FBI caught up with him. The FBI acted like they suspected someone else and Jha told his “friends” (they were narcs) that he was “leading the FBI on a massive goose chase”. The FBI finally charged him: he got $8.6 million dollars in fines (which will follow him to the grave), 6 months of home confinement and 2,500 hours of community service. 8.6 MILLION... honestly it’s a bit overkill because now he will be in debt for the rest of his life but he deserves it.

Leafy covered this sort of topic when he returned for a short while. Basically server owners would pay hackers to hack a server. Then the hackers would dm the server owner, ask him to pay money to hack the server owner who paid him to hack in the first place, and then the cycle would repeat. It was really bad back in the day.
