I don't think I like this direct upgrade. What happens to redstone? Its still used in recipes, but not really as a block anymore. What if they could go through blocks, but kept the power level, needing to be replenised by regular repeaters? Itd be too op if it traveled instantly, and hiding Redstone completely is also alot. But to make up for all that, copper wires could turn in any direction, up down north south east west, AND, they could make it so you can deconnect unneeded wires, like two of them standing side by side! Or a cross section!
@PădureAndrei-j9k Жыл бұрын
I think It would need a transformer that takes 5 redstone ticks to activate, but afterwards it can pass trought the copper wire without distance limit, but being unable to power normal redstone components, so that it will need another transformer to be usefull. Or it could be used to upgrade redstone components to have no delay and they to need to be powered by copper wires, not direct redstone, making it a late game improvement. The transformers should be hard to get, like needing ender cristals or something late game to craft

@The_hot_blue_fire_guy Жыл бұрын
And that is the main problem. I don’t mind new building blocks but if you are going to add an entire new ore to the game then maybe you should make it at least somewhat useful outside of building!? Not everyone plays Minecraft to build structures. Many people play it to explore the world for adventure or they play because they like to solve problems and come up with solutions for those problems, (like making redstone contraptions that can automate or simplify aspects of the game) As it is right now copper is pretty much useless to anyone not interested in building and designing. There is no point to this resource for adventure, or puzzle solving players! And that is why copper needs to get at least some other use besides building material. Because otherwise it’s literally a waste of an ore type! I mean even ores like nether quartz are useful in some redstone recipes but copper doesn’t even have that going for it! Lapis is almost pointless but at least you need to use it for enchanting! Every ore type has at least some purpose that isn’t just “existing” every ore except copper that is.
@5001Fergies Жыл бұрын
Im almost certain they only added it for modpacks, because before now every mod in a pack would have to make their own copper, leading to packs like tekkit and ftb having 6 different copper ores that arent compatible with each other

I actually have quite a few ideas that could make it way more useful: - Pipes to transport items more efficiently than hoppers (like in quark oddities) - Wires that act as redstone dust that can go vertically or underwater. They have no length limit. Alternatively, lightning rods could be used for this - Rails that make minecarts go faster and make them preserve velocity, even after leaving the track. This would allow for jumping across ravines using a ramp, for example. We also need a way to make copper oxidize faster for building purposes. It's painfully slow right now and even though I personally use a data pack that adds recipes for oxidized copper, it would be nice for all players to have access to a really good looking block. They could either make it simply oxidize faster or give thick/mundane potions a use by making it so that throwing a splash potion of that type on it makes it immediately oxidize. It would save builders a lot of time

I recall Mojang saying that they didnt want copper to disturb the balance of progression by making copper useful. Of course this relates to copper armor and tools, but I think that this is just a coverup of the -fact- theory that Mojang, just doesn't want to. Which "don't want to" makes a lot more sense in relation to other features.
@XayXayYT Жыл бұрын
I could understand not wanting to disturb progression yeah, but that would open opportunities for it to be used similar to quartz and redstone, where they're useful in a niche way, rather than useless entirely like it is now

@@XayXayYT i'd say the problem there would be maintaining the lore and feel of the game. considering the thematic time period of minecraft and the potential lore that might be limiting it, its a little bit easier to understand why its hard to think of simple features to add that both include copper and add something special to the gameplay.

How prepaired would you have to be. You can probably imagine the amout of work and reaserch you would have to do to justify something. If the reasons and research just doesn't convince enough people then the idea isn't bad, its just not good enough. Its not good enough to justify altering the core gameplay experience of the game whos gameplay will be remembered by the next generation. Its just hard to justify things when you really think about being in a meeting with gameplay designers, artists, managers, developers, animators, storyboardists, and writers and give your presentation expecting the majority of them to be convinced. thats honestly why the stuff in the recent updates really just adds new niche features or makes the game more interconnected. improving existing features like the nether rather than adding new dimensions. it all comes down to keeping minecraft ... well minecraft and making it better. does adding new stuff for the sake of satisfying players who could use mods make sense. as a side note, we dont know whats in jeb's minecraft dev guide book. we also dont know the lore for certain. any new additions must keep continuity with extablished lore or you probably have to talk to higher management and a few writers. I think some sort of bulk-use recipes in particular would be best for a resource as abundant as copper. I've thought for a while that having a proper pipe block would lower the iron costs (and hopefully lag) from long hopper chains that ultimately don't make a ton of sense conceptually (why would you need a ton of funnels when there's only like 1 input area for items?). Additionally, I think having at least one but preferably several copper based redstone components would give it a happy home with one of the largest communities this game has. It's important for people to think about new resources not in the simplest of RPG-progression terms, but utilizing the broad creative space that minecraft has to offer that makes redstone more powerful than netherite and iron stronger than diamonds: what you can do with the things made from redstone and iron are far more deadly and earthshaping than having a little extra armor or DPS.

Ideas for more copper functionality: Make zombies unable to break down copper doors but still behaving as a non-iron door this would make copper doors incredibly useful for villages as they would make the doors zombie-proof while still allowing the villagers to enter and exit their houses at will. Maybe change the recipe to 6 ingots and make the 6 blocks recipe into an identical looking door that requires redstone, called the heavy copper door. Another idea is to change the powered rail recipe to use copper, and then keep the gold recipe for new "super powered rails" that would go much faster than the current rails, as currently minecarts are still a rather slow method of transportation compared to what has been added since.

Blockheads does resources as a whole better than minecraft, take titanium, the blockheads alternative to diamond and netherite; NOT ONLY is it used for the highest tier weapons and armor in the game, it is essential in the final stages of technology and in jetpack creation, linking it more to gear and aesthetics unlike diamond/netherite, iron is the only minecraft resource that can hold a candle to ANY resource in blockheads

Copper Pipes! Add new types of pipes that essentially work as cheaper hoppers. Less storage space within the pipe, but there could be different pipes with different uses. Different pipes that can transport items, filter them, and send them upward with very minimal redstone efforts. Allowing early game and less experienced players to access the joys of item organization. Of course hoppers will still be useful in taking the items out of storage and placing them back into storage, pipes would just work essentially as a bridge between hoppers.

I wish we could have some balancing features in the copper tools if they ever get added to Minecraft. For example: while also being an in-between from stone to iron, a copper pickaxe could also mine the ores that a stone pickaxe can't, such as redstone, gold, emerald, etc, but NOT diamond. You'd still need the iron pickaxe to get diamonds.

@polishscribe67411 ай бұрын
I always have a list I put under videos like this with my ideas, here it is: 1. Give copper the same variants you can get from iron and gold. Weight pressure plates, bars, cauldrons, etc. 2. Integrate it with redstone. People talk about it's conductive ability, but we already have that, maybe pipes so you don't need to use so many hoppers in transport? 3. Tools for the sake of machinimas and role-playing. They could be on the level of stone, just retextured. 4. This one may go too far: fooling piglins. Wearing copper armor would reduce the range at which they attack you, and dropping a bar would distract them from chasing you (but they wouldn't give items for copper)

Well actually adding middle tiers is always pointless. And frankly most of these what this "Minecraf ripoff" does wouldn't really work for minecraft, and won't impact it. Fortunately the new update adds few great blocks to copper. They could add also wall variants, but at leas now we can really say we have actual copper block family. And most importand is the copper bulb... though it is still kinda bad, that to make T-flip-flop it needs another block, so chance to having full minimalization wasted. And that's one of the main uses copper should have: it should be used to improve redstone by enabling many things to make redstone contraption more compact. Like filtering variant of hopper (which would have special slot to indicate the item that is the only one that goes through it... and maybe powering it would inverse it to pull all but this item). Or cables (with combining copper nuggets with redstone) which let to have redston on walls and ceilings. Or just have it parallel to regular redstone without connecting. Or logical gates (AND, OR, NOT and others - all being one block element like repeater or comparator). Other thing is rose gold. As much as adding middle tiers is stupid and pointless, making useless things usefull isn't. And that would rose gold be. As it would be upgrading gold tools and armor with copper. This would make them about as durable as iron while keeping high enchantability and speed (50% better than diamond and 33% than netherite), maybe even adding one additional point to it. And of course making it abble to mine all what could be with iron. (Armor could be as current iron armor, while iron would get +0,5 hardness per element). The same upgrading could also be done to powered rail (though powered raid also should be buffed themselves to at least make possible to get slightly faster with them than with boat on blue ice) Copper nuggets could also be used to make copper sulfate to get green flame(green lanterns, torches and campfires). Also copper goat horns should return, and (kinda) the same goes to copper buttons and golems.

Mojang does that thing that they do by adding a new item/ block and not implementing it with the rest of the game. Only with the new junk that comes with the updoes. So the update feels more like an undercooked mod. It's better then what they used to do back in the day tho, adding shit without even giving it purpose. But still not good.

Copper can be a good building materials when you know how to use it, weirdly enough the mid weather stages are the best. Poles are nice with the lightning rod. The spyglass... is a thing. It has potential with building, possibly similar blocks to iron like doors and bars, I guess keeping in mind the more flexible nature of the material. It certainly needs uses in redstone, possibly even mechanics which can be used before finding redstone.

Why is lapis used as an example of a useless resource? I mean obviously it's easy to get an excess of it, but it's still useful for enchanting if you don't have access to villagers. But yeah I agree, copper being included in Minecraft at all is weird. I would love to use it as a substitute for iron in iron-heavy recipes (like minecarts, hoppers, maybe anvils, etc.). I have stacks of copper that I smelted for the novelty and I'd love to use it on those things.
@XayXayYT Жыл бұрын
I just thought it'd be funny to pick on lapis as a resource since it was pretty bad until the enchanting changes, and then it later gets screwed over by villagers.

He’s onto something there. Lapis’ only purpose is enchanting, and it has a single block. How about instead of copper we fix lapis? Considering that everything now has to have an excess of features it’s only fair this applies to lapis
@chickensky1121 Жыл бұрын
@@basic6735 I mean mostly from the perspective of demand. If we're talking about the variety of ways it can be used, then yeah I guess Lapis could do with a few more. I'd like something that keeps the theme of Lapis being the enchanting material - perhaps upgraded versions of existing blocks? Or maybe some kind of EXP detector or farmer.
@basic6735 Жыл бұрын
@@chickensky1121 An exp detector sounds interesting, perhaps once a certain (maybe even adjustable) threshold of exp is detected it sends out a redstone signal. And maybe to go along with that some kind of exp capacitor, which can store exp and release it all at once, that way people can fill up a couple exp capacitors that when activated by a exp detector will just dump its contents. An application of this could be someone who doesn’t want to wait around all day fixing his mending tools at a farm, so he gets as much exp into his capacitors as possible and only needs to return every now and then and only for a few seconds to repair his tools, lag could be an issue though

If they buff mobs a bit and have copper and tin added, we could have early game tools and armor (also make iron spawn at deeper levels, and have more mobs spawn the deeper you go, to an extreme degree). Also, have copper wire that is redstone but can be used underwater. Also, have a new furnace type thaf is powered using lava and smeltd stuff 3x as fast as the blast furnace. And have actual trains! Maybe power too?
