The MINION Bus Build Begins.. - Unique Layout - SKOOLIE CONVERSION

Well folks it's official! Started the build on the MINION Bus today.
With the Big Bus engine blowing up I am not sure when it will fixed or when I will see it again.
I need a bus and we need a better living situation so we are gonna build out this little 4 window which was the original plan in the beginning.
Designed this layout with our baby on the way in mind.

Hi Isaac. Glad I'm still around to continue watching you and Jaylena. Just an update on me. I made it through my cancer surgery. Today I'm at home recovering and cancer FREE. No radiation or chemo needed. The tumor is out of my body. I thank GOD everyday for giving me my life back. Now on to bigger and better things to do. Nice layout Isaac and so glad you kept Minion. You could build Ember a custom crib that hangs from the ceiling over the foot of your bed but whatever you do I know it will look amazing and so looking forward to the build. You could build the benches like the one in Jaylena's so you can pull out one to join both benches and make a really big bed for when Ember wants to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed, it's inevitable so might as well get use to the ideal! Lol

Something that I think would make the back bed area more usable and more convenient would be putting the bed on a manual pulley system with the benches and table permanently fixed. That way, you don't have to assemble the bed every time, and you don't have to assemble the table. The bedding can stay on the bed while the bed is up on the ceiling. Just an idea! Something I wish I had done in my build for sure.

I used 2 of the Kia middle row seats to replace my drivers and passenger seats. As there are no front passenger seats in a coaster and as I didn't want odd seats, I did them both. Great comfortable seats.

You could use the two buses by parking them head to toe and making a walk way at the side door way to the other bus. To cover the walk way you could get a cavas cover made and snap it over the doors like a tent.Then put steps down between the buses.

yeah, keep in the back of your mind that 6 or 7 months down the road you can sell minion after you build the big bus. then after that sell, maybe build a tiny house on the lot, to live in full time. i wish you, jalena, and the baby the best of luck. i am looking forward to some live edge!

Yeah , it’s a good transition in the short term to build out that bus and do the big bus later when the baby is older . As long as you have a place to put the car seat and have Jalena sit as well , plus the shower / toilet that’s all that needed . Once the baby is older , you can either keep that bus or sell it when you move into the big bus . My mom would alway say , “This too shall pass and it will all work out in the end . “ Trust the process of your journey.

Maybe you can somehow add an attachment to the back of the bus ( like a tunnel )to use when you guys are stationary and then you would back up the two buses together end to end and connect them so it’s one big bus anyway ??! Then you would drive separately, but have buses combined together when needed . It would probably be the combined size of a big bus anyway.

If you put the two buses together and connected them with a walk way then it would be easy to have one bus be your master bedroom and Ember’s room would be in the peach . Maybe you could then make the bathroom bigger in your bus because there is already a kitchen in peach 🍑

Don't stress out about the kid. Babys are total introvert s for the first 6 months. The only thing they care about is being warm, fed and dry. I'm a mother of 4 and a grandma of 7 so I kind of get it. .just do what you got to do but don't stress out, just take plenty of time to enjoy her when she presents herself. Also have you thought about a hitch and a small flatbed trailer to haul supplies.🌞

To heck with a nursery bus, where the the kid has her own bus. The baby needs to be with the two of you from day one. So build a little room of sorts for your baby in your bus (small bus). Ember has to stay in same bus as you and Jaylena. Build a crib spot!!! And a clothing, baby stuff dresser. You're putting in a kitchen sink which is good, which can double as a baby bath tub. Child proof the bottom kitchen cabinets and drawers when building out the big bus and build a baby bedroom for her too, in the big bus. Once you hold Ember, she will be your everything...you will absolutely fall in love with her!

Isaac you are a linear thinker….when one thing doesn’t work out you move on quickly and solve the problem….using Minion as a temp home is a wise decision for many reasons…Jaylena’s bus as a nursery will work …in about 6 months are you going to move on to the big bus?….having a “bus baby” is very workable as long as he is not mobile …then the fun begins…..you are in for a wonderful adventure ..you chose the right partner to be sure….Jaylena is awesome….and so are you…a match made in heaven….😊

I would skip the back bench and use a long table with rounded corners that fills the gap to convert it to a bed. I think a smaller lagoon mounted table will be too small for two laptops and mouse, drinks, etc. Also, the U shape would almost force you to sit right across from each other and have no leg room. With a longer table you could each have one side of the table so you have more room. You'll both be able to put your feet up, work and relax at the same time. And then you can give Jaylena foot massages to get out of trouble! lol Anyways, my point is that it's fine not to have much leg room when you have company and there's 4 people sitting at the table, chatting for a little while. But when it's just the two of you there for hours and hours, then you might want to put your feet up and each have half the table to work on. Plus you might be able to look at each at an angle and communicate easier when needed.

Jaylina had a Geyser shower system at one point with her van. I got one & love it! I use for camping with a collapsible laundry tub - 1 gallon water use for a hot shower or hair wash. Less costly than all the shower plumbing you are planning. I originally got & used it during a tear out & redo of my sticks & bricks bathroom & only had tent for camping. I used a pop up shower/potty tent for 6 months in the garage until bathroom completed. Just a thought to save you some time & money & save your window.
