Rocco, you are the man.

Thank you for your kind words. We are so happy Rocco is walking again. Our little Teddy never got his legs back, but he lives a good life and is loved. And thanks for letting me know that the chair helped Rocco get back to normal. Of course we all know that the real savior was you... Again, Thank You Ron

I'm glad to see that Rocco looks as if he shed some pounds from his middle at the end of the video when he is running . At the beginning of the video , I saw that he was an overweight dachshund with a large girth in the middle -and that his weight was probably a contributing factor with his temporary paralysis / loss of leg function .

I know this post is old but human meds DO NOT equate to dog meds. If you cannot afford to take care of a dog, do not have one!

did he ever get to the point he didn't support himself even with his front legs. mine is just laying to her side and won't even sit up anymore.

nick martin He fully recovered. A mixture of the wheelchair and anti inflammatory meditation did the trick. He had a relapse where he almost went back in the chair but we gave him the same anti inflammatory meds and he was fine after.

What was the vet's diagnosis ? Was it IVDD ?
@WhiskeySharpShooter9 жыл бұрын
Denise Eggert Yes, they gave him an anti-inflammatory but said he might never walk again. He is still walking as of today.

***** Paula from MT has a KZbin site that gives great information about all these conditions and she also suggests Dodgerlist as a resource and a support group. Paula states that some vets are more knowledgeable than others about these spine problems and there are two courses of treatment - conservative treatment and surgery - both with equal success rates. One thing that I have to agree with her on -is that if a dog is getting an anti-inflammatory medication , he/she should also be getting a weight based dose of pepcid to protect their stomachs - these dogs are probably even more sensitive to the effects of anti-inflammatory medicine on the stomach than humans. I'm glad that your dog has made such a great recovery.
