NZ clubs can’t play in AFC. I think that’s weird tbh.
@cass22396 күн бұрын
@@elijahtchilembe-mpovie2715 yeah, you'd think it would be either like Vaduz, who play in Switzerland but qualify through the Liechtenstein Cup for Europe, or like Monaco, where they just do everything in France. Seeing as they don't compete at all in the OFC, they should just be considered Australian clubs, like Monaco is seen as French or the Welsh teams in England (at the moment anyway).

Fun fact : Every year half of the overseas clubs (Guadeloupe, Tahiti, Mayotte etc...) will receive a game in the 7th and 8th round BUT they can only receive clubs who accepted to go overseas. This year for exemple out of the 170 metropolitan clubs qualified in the 7th round, only 22 accepted to play overseas. (Avranches being one obviously) Starting the 9th round (64 teams left), when the Ligue 1 clubs are entering. ALL games will be played in the metropolitan France. So no, you will never see a Ligue 1 club playing overseas. Btw we dont say the s in Avranches. And the "e" is pronounced "eu" A-Vran-cheu Not Avranchès.

Reunion: Saint Denis, at Home with Saint-Philbert (non league side). Martinique: RC Saint Joseph will actually play away to a Ligue2 side Pau. Guadeloupe: Jeunesse - Away to Mutzig (non league). Let me know if I missed any please ;)

Fun fact about Oceania, according to Football Manager (so therefore, must be at least close to the truth), you earn more money for losing in the first round of Conference League qualifying than you do for winning the entire OFC Champions League. Also, Wellington Pheonix don't win the OFC Champions League year after year. Wellington Pheonix don't even compete in the OFC Champions League. The honour of dominating Oceania goes to Auckland City.

Semi-related, but as someone who got relatively into Auckland City and even did an unfinished, frustrating FM save with them, I resent how immediately Auckland FC has taken off. They’re great, their stadium is great, the fans are great, and it’s stolen valor, damn it! (And the inaugural Kiwi Derby, which they WON, was a fantastic game and a statement win for them.)

5:36 bad comparison. The French 4th tier is not "French league two". I know for a fact that the 4th tier of Spain is not considered to be a fully professional league. Hell; I'm well aware Bordeaux rescinded their professional license last year and there they are: in the 4th tier. Without a professional license. It's not the same as in England.

Good to see someone with a decent audience talking about and being excited about OFC football and it's stories. Even talking about the modern equivalent of Henry Fa'arodo a few months ago. It's a part of the world that doesn't get enough attention. Factual issues? Sure. But I enjoy hearing someone with decent audience excited about that part of the world when they don't really have to, more than focusing on some oversights.

The Coupe de France is one of the top Cup Competitions in the World... Where the FA Cup is the more prestigious, it only accepts around 750 teams a year, The Coupe de France enters 10x more teams at 7k-8k a season, just about every team, no matter how low down in Metropolitan France, get a shot at the Cup along with the Overseas Territories... I also think theres a rule that from Round 7, if teams are drawn together, if the clubs are than 2 divisions apart, the lower ranked team gets home advantage, regardless of how the balls werw drawn

Each overseas team gets at most 1 home tie in the Coupe de France. It is predetermined if a territory will play this, as it alternates every year whether they play the first round vs a mainland side at home or away. Tahiti, French Guiana and Reunion are the 3 territories playing at home this year. Next year, it will be New Caledonia, Guadeloupe and Martinique. Unfortunately that means AS Dragon must now play the rest of their games away in the current competition. On another note, the club from Mayotte, Diables Noirs, also won their tie on penalties after a 0-0 draw away to an 8th division side. That makes the current edition the first ever with 6 different overseas territories represented in round 8, with the Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana and Reunion representatives entering in this round. Also, this makes only the 2nd season since Mayotte's first participation in 2001/02 that their club has beaten a mainland side (AS Jumeaux de M'zouazia beat 2 teams [7th and 8th division sides] on a dream run to the round of 64 in 2021/22 before being beaten 10-0 by a then Ligue 1 Bordeaux containing the likes of Josh Maja, Mbaye Niang, Sekou Mara and Javairo Dilrosun. FC Mtsapere also made the round of 64 in 2020/21, but due to covid restrictions, didn't have to face a mainland side until that round, beating a fellow Mayotte side in the 7th round and then a Reunionese side in the 8th round)

1 minute in, and there have been like 4 big mistakes already lmao Auckland City win the OFC champions league every year, The Nix don't play in it, their reserves do. New Zealand does not have over 50% of the population of the region (Its not a continent), Papua New Guinea has over 3 million more people on its own. The Wellington Phoenix are not the only NZ based A-league team, Auckland FC joined this year (And is topping the league atm).

unfortunately AS Dragon did not finish inside the top 2 of their league so the earliest chance they could return to the OFC Champions League (pretty self explanatory) and challenge the 12-time Champions Auckland City is 2026 (Wellington Phoenix is not allowed to compete as someone in the comments already pointed out, their reserves do but they aren't really that good in the league)... also Tahiti teams tend to underperform in the Champions League (at least a few years ago when I followed the comp regularly) so they may have a better chance winning Coupe de France first 😂 also according to my limited knowledge, beach soccer is really big in Tahiti and they hold World Cups there so there is an argument that, despite football's popularity, this wouldnt be the largest sports event in the country

something for another video if croatia had not equalised against portugal, that would have left scotland and croatia on the same amount of points, same goal difference, same amount of goals conceded and goals scored, same number of wins drawe and losses, meaning croatia would have gone through only as they beat scotland 2-1.
