Neat little aerial, but I don't think I would use it all the time, but for a quick portable use it is ideal. I am curious if the counterpoise will make a difference or not. I wait to see if you contact others to see how good it performs! Thanks for a simple straight forward video.

Well done Jez, hopefully get to work something on it on your next outing with it. Interesting to see if the counterpoise makes a noticeable difference. Happy new post-lockdown hairdo too isn’t it 😉👌👍

Looks a great antenna, i may look about, ideal for what i need for my x6100 for all modes etc and no messing with big antennas, yes it won't be as good for transmitting but data modes and the right conditions would be fine. Ideal to pack light for holidays etc. Not many about these days! Shame there so expensive for what they are

Ive managed to work into poland with the antenna when the band was open

@@2j4ez they arnt bad and i believe with a counterpoise off the radio they tune up better also. Will have a look about for one. Ideal little things

@@cbjamesb1 All i do is tune the radio to a frequency like 14.250mhz then tune the dial until the sound gets louder and then should be good to go

i'm going to add 5m wire to the radio and see if i can make any contacts on 20m but the bands are flat at the moment

Good video Jez. I have the original Miracle Whip and I've had some success with it. When you add a counterpoise you will notice a difference. All the best and keep up the good work. 73 Chris M0RSF

Hi Jez how does the radio know it's tuned? i.e. vswr 1:1 for 50 ohms are you listening for audio quality only?
@2j4ez4 жыл бұрын
Hi what you do is tune for the loudest signal then you can keyup if the radio says the VSWR is high just turn the dial 2 steps to the left or right it will bring it tune

Hmmm, now this is very interesting - I'm thinking put this whip on a Raspberry Pi outside somewhere of a car battery and run it for WSPR testing.
