What a delightful story and it’s especially pleasing to see how positive the impact of great allyship can be from somebody who isn’t Jewish. Congratulations to the Middelburg shul and its community on its unexpected revival. Good luck finding a rabbi.

FASCINATING piece of history. I live in the Seychelles and am a Jewish/Israeli sympathiser. I did my family tree a few years back and found an ancestor, on my mothers side, from Regenburgh Bavaria, who emigrated to Réunion Island in the 18th century, whom I suspect to be Jewish. A few years ago a nephew of mine did a D.N.A. test and found out that he was about 15 % Ashkenazi. I am yet to do mine but anyway I am sure my percentage is much higher.

What a nice story, sadly my local synagoge didn't have the same faith after destruction it was mostly left alone until the ninties where it was completly removed and a few years after that a residential building was build in its stead and now only a plaque reminds of the building and the community that used it.

Incredibly moving. Who can understand Hashem's ways? This whole thing could have been started just to give a couple of lost and forlorn Jews the opportunity to find their way back into the fold. Should inspire us all to never give up on ourselves or on any of our Jewish brethren.

Oh would be great to rebuild a Synagoge in east Germany i live now. But it would be senseless without believing people in it. 😣 I m working in it. Thanks for the Inside in the Nederlands. 🙄
