I grew up in South Africa on the side of white privilege during apartheid years, and had my worldview turned around in 1956 by Trevor Huddleston and a weekend meeting black leaders in and near Sophiatown & Soweto. (I left for USA 2 years later - now in Canada).

She's bringing tears to my eyes, i only saw apartheid a little bit when going to town with my mom because i would ask her why they didn't talk to her in some other shops, she just said i will know when i'm old enough. It's so sad that these legends are not recognized while still alive, we only celebrate them when they are gone. RIP Mama Afrika

It is incredibly piercing that pain and struggle is the only documented part of my history, growing up to watch videos , read books and continuously see in my community the continued brutalization and dehumanization of my people. These are our mothers and fathers. I am pissed off about colonialism, and particularly apartheid.
