Despite having a boxy silhouette, this SUV looks spectacular indeed

Thanks for this review, I've watched it a few times. I am one of the 'select few' this car appeals to - big enough for our growing family, can get me through my short daily commute on electric power only, but also has the petrol engine to appease any range anxiety. It looks beautiful, it's techy, it has the required space for 3 kids, so I have ordered my 2024 PHEV GSR, and I can't wait until it arrives later in the year.

For me, this is one of the most perfect SUV, best balance between everything, and you can't deny how flexible this thing is.

Full charge in Australia on a regular domestic 240 outlet is 9.5 hours, not 12 hours. 12 is the figure for US 110v home charging.

How much is the jump in electricity bill? Just trying to work out if it's better value than the trail e power.
@davidroberts5199

@@2901gagandeepI charge mostly off rooftop solar so my bill hasn’t gone up really. Even at the highest electricity rate it’s about half the cost of petrol per km. If you drive mostly around town the outlander will be cheaper to run, if you drive mostly motorway Kms and long distances then the xtrail might get slightly better economy.

You say it loses it's shine because for the price you can get a full EV. Is there a 5+2 seater with this much boot space, ride comfort, physical buttons, and carplay? I think the Model Y is the closest and it's just not right in all the ways the outlander is right.

@AndrewMic26 2 ай бұрын
It actually cant run on petrol power unless its over 70km/h because the single speed gearbox has too high of a ratio for the petrol engine to run without stalling. The petrol engine provides power so the electric motors can drive the wheels and extra energy goes back into the batteries
@nev3082
@nev3082 23 күн бұрын
A couple of corrections to the commentary in this video. 1) He says when the battery runs flat the car returns to running on the petrol power alone. Not true. The Car returns to running as a hybrid, because the battery is never truly flat, so even when it can't run as an EV, the electric motors are assisting the petrol engine, or vice versa depending on the drive mode. 2) He says that he has seen 5-6 litres / 100km economy running on petrol when the battery is depleted and this does not match the Mitsubishi claimed figures of 1.5 l/100km. Mitsubishi are very clear that the 1.5 litres/100km is calculated by starting with a full battery and driving 100km.

I reckon this is a good buy, if you can get one on a novated lease where it’s exempt from FBT. I’ll think I’ll look into that.

I've ordered mine through a novated lease. I spent a lot of time considering my options, but as it's FBT-exempt, I can't see much downside, and it will end up MUCH cheaper than even the best value car loan.

I think something they have completely overlooked is the AWD. Almost non existent in the PHEV world. Means you can cruise around town using no fuel but also take it up the ski mountain or drop ya boat off at the boat ramp no issues. Wouldnt buy it brand new, but second hand feels like good value

Is 2nd row space better if you don't get the 7 seater? Seems a bit tight.
@Drivecomau
@Drivecomau 4 ай бұрын
Second-row space doesn't change in the five-seat models. The positioning is the same, but seven-seat models just add a third row behind. The Exceed Tourer shown here isn't available with five seat though, only the Outlander PHEV ES and Aspire are.

Public Chademo fast chargers are disappearing fast as CVS is the winning standard and Chademo is dead. Around my area all fast chargers have converted their Chademo to CVS so forget public charging.There is no home two way DC charger that supports Chademo in Australia currently available according to Mitsubishi and is unlikely to become available in the future so forget any hope of doing V2G or V2H when this becomes legal (expected 2025). Outlander is best suited to people who charge at home with off street parking (especially with solar panels) and or want to do off road.

Not if you are on a Novated Lease because you won’t pay FBT. My nearly $77K Outlander PHEV costs me the same per week as a $40,000 petrol-powered car. An identical petrol Outlander that costs $16K less to purchase would cost $200 per fortnight more to lease than the $77K PHEV model

@@peteandmattatsea1815 yeah pretty unfortunate, I was trying in November and was told wait was 8-12 months for any grade. The car I had wouldn't have lasted that long without a gearbox rebuild so I had to get a CX-60 instead. Bright side I got it in 3 weeks.

I don't understand 7 seaters where you can't fit in the middle row when using the back row? Certainly doesn't make sense for an average Aussie family. Not only that, but there are no top tether points that I can see in the third row, meaning kids can't use it until they're 8, then there's only very few years before they won't fit anymore.. Seems like a pointless car to me, the Kia Sorento looks to be a far better option, if only they came in better supply of phev's.
