Janet literally looked at all the mistakes MJ made and made better choices until the Super Bowl. She’s still the Queen of Pop.

A lot to unpack here: 1. I think Janet's discussion of her father is inherent to her story. If a great deal of Control was about her firing her father it would imply that she did not have the best relationship with him. This retroactive look at his life/impact may not be something we, the public, might understand, but it's within Janet's right to tell the story and perhaps share the perspective she later grew to have with her father -- as complicated of a person he can be. 2. She's talked about the Super Bowl before (Oprah being the longest discussion on the topic some 15 years ago). While it might be one thing for fodder for a documentary about the summation of her life, I think she has taken from the Jackson perspective of that rhinoceros skin concept they all followed -- don't let the public weaponize your hurt. Her trying to do a solid for Justin says more about her and her class, than it ever did for the way he conducted himself. She mighta said, "hey you don't need to make a statement," but she sure as hell didn't say, "and continue saying nothing about it for the next decade and change." 3. Mike's involvement in the doc - She's always had his back, even to the point where she dedicates a portion of her documentary to make sure she showed him in a good light. The best part about the collaboration in Scream that they show here is that her contribution became the spoken word portion right before the dance break -- which oddly, all these years later, still resonates with the way you hear sensationalized news headlines. It's a small peak of how Janet's socially conscious ear wasn't by accident or something programmed by Jimmy and Terry. She's a legit artist and one who loved her brother dearly. There's a lot to be said about how the documentary could have been better, but there's a good deal of criticism here by one of the hosts that just seems to miss the mark entirely. As most of the wants or suggested improvements are outside the scope of what we've seen from literally all Jackson media (they're going to be guarded, at all times) and perhaps are more reflective of their inability to connect to her. Jimmy says it best if you want to know Janet, listen to her albums. This was Janet contextualizing the story from her perspective. There are more than enough people out there who have told you what they think her story should be.

Regards to the Superbowl incident turned into Uber hype. Being of a certain age and a former American 🏈 fan, I've watched them since the beginning. The Superbowl has been rated as the No.1 "family-friendly" entertainment show. So the Janet -Justin nudity via costume malfunction as it was, was a direct a front to the Superbowl as a brand. I did watch the Superbowl when Janet was the halftime entertainment. ALL of the Jacksons incl. 3T the harmonies are awesome, second to none. I'm thinking this comes from their times of harmonizing with their mom, around the house.Back before they were even professional artists. No doubt they knew that particular element would set them apart. And being genetically linked, their sound would be unmistakable and greatly admired.

I like Charles Thomson in this and the other episode ( he said Michael was a hoarder😂) not that my likeness of him make anything different.. Just that sometimes being a fans need to be objective and being truthful. I cannot wait to see MJ documentary by TAJ because Charles Thomson's involvement.

There are many objective fans, MJ was great but he was human af…. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more passive aggressive family than the Jacksons.

I am from Canada and I confirm that Justin Bieber is annoying as hell and this why we are happy that he lives in the USA and we wish that he remains there. Although that his teenage fans and himself like to flirt with the idea of him being the next Michael Jackson, unfortunately the idea is so far-fetched, it is laughable.

I loved hearing the analysis abt Justin Timberlake. I have a theory that MJ didn't care too much for JT. I base it off of an exchange during the performance w nsync during the 30th anniversary show. At one point there is a look from Michael to him when doing dancing machine. He motions him back to his spot w a look of.......unamusement. In that perf Justin pretty much mimics Michael's classic moves as Michael himself does them. A bit cringe. His behaviour when Janet was being tarred and feathered was abhorrent. He should have skipped the grammys that year to show support. After all, she was nice enough to pull him into the damn show and he let's her twist in the wind. Not cool....... Thanks for the show. I'm a new subscriber and love the content.

I found this documentary very bland. They don't talk much about the music. They focus a lot on Michael, who is not the topic of the documentary. It is poorly directed.

MJ was also mean af to Janet. MJ had enough money to seek help, don’t you find it strange that Marlon doesn’t complain or Randy or Janet. MJ made bad decisions. Even LaToya came out ok, she said that Jackie had it the worse with Joe but he isn’t as cold as what MJ became in the end.

I think Janet has earned the right to tell her story her way and to give as much or as little as she wanted. I think the trailer editing disparaged MJ in several ways: both the allegations and the teasing about Janet’s weight. Both issues out of context seemed worse than actually presented in the documentary but they were foder for terrible headlines and that couldn’t have been by accident

28:00 Thank you Charles Thomson! MJs Trial was a big embarrassment! For Michael, but for her and her fam is well! If he was my brother?? pfff... Forget the SAD part of that TRIAL BY MEDIA! I would by Furious in 2022!! I also would distroy Wade Flopson, who tries 2 distroy her brother Mike, 10 years after MJs death! Wade, who also danced with Janet 😱 -Wait What!? -Yes he did! but...Again... I'm not his brother.

MJ literally tossed his own family aside, I’m pretty sure they were pissed off in 2003 and in 2019 but they don’t talk about family issues in public they always show a United front.

Sorry, but the excuses for Joseph here drive me wild. What is the message here? Yes, I love the music they all made, but I would loved it even more, if they were not being traumatized and not that successful or popular. He DID torture his kids. He cheated on his wife. He even had another secret family! He basically used his kids as a tool to make a career, because he was not able to do it without them. And the excuse "they needed money" is none! He could have used birth control. And I have a very big problem with everyone defending him. He did basically everything wrong that a father could do wrong. We don't even know how much about the sexual abuse stuff that La Toya talked about was real. And Katherine was enabling everything he did. I don't know how the law was back then, but she could have done at least something about him. It is better to be poor and happy, than rich and miserable.
