Question on open scoring: do we know how quickly the round is scored? Does this come through at the bell or does it take 20/30 seconds for this to be determined? If so, do the coaches/fighters find out midway through the break? I could see this complicating the open scoring process as it could distract them from the fight if they don’t agree etc.
@ParkourUnited100
@ParkourUnited100 2 жыл бұрын
I see your point, but I don’t think the purpose of open scoring is to have a consensus on or protest the scores it’s just so that a fighter knows they are definitively winning, losing, or even on the cards at that point in the fight.
@kimbboooosaywhat
@kimbboooosaywhat 2 жыл бұрын
@@ParkourUnited100 true, but I do see an element of coaches finding out the fighter’s actual standing in the fight and adapting the game plan as needed. Whether this coming through towards the end of the break allows for enough time to make any adjustments. I think open scoring could actually add an interesting dynamic to coaching/strategy in-between rounds from this perspective.
@supertrippyjohng

The judges submit the scores after every round already so it wouldn't be that hard to show them in the beginning of round 2 and keep the round 3 score for buffer to announce
@person1113

After every round submit and tally the score and within 30 seconds Buffer gets on the Mic and simply states "Round 1 has been awarded to xyz". Than the fighters get their usual 1 minute of break. Simple as that.

How much time do they have in between rounds? Relying on someone to calculate and to relay the score to a corner. Think should be digital to instantly calculate and can be viewed to allow time to advise based on actual score because manually calculating a relaying can be subject to human error.

Ariel, how about you try to get one of the judges in for one of these interviews and see what they are looking at and judging during each fight and maybe pick a specific fight as a reference. Newyorkric saying Valentina isn't a 135er is another bad take. People aren't trolling these are just bad takes. She lost close fights to Amanda at 135 (some would say she won fight 2). Valentina submitted the current champ and would be the favorite in a fight with everybody except maybe Amanda at 135 and that would be very close odds. If anyone deserves double champ status it's Valentina, and there is no more interesting fight for her after she fights Santos.

look if you start letting the fighters know what their scores are between rounds then that takes away the sense of urgency. Lets not forget how the majority of these fights are won, which is ko/tko. Mate, I don't think they're gonna implement open scoring. you can think of it as giving a fighter "power". Lol they have a sport where one guy is on fire and others are chasing him all on horses...and we wonder why that part of the world is at war.

Ariel puts way to much weight on fight island being popular. I’ve asked several people today and they have no idea what that even is lol

Ariel - you have a terrible habit of asking a question to only talk over the top of the other person (often NYR). It's very difficult as a listener to hear what's going on.

I love this pod but I am getting burnt out on the constant complaining about the ufc. Open scoring. Usada. UFC conrtol. I feel like I'm listening to the same pod every single week.

I normally think Ric just likes hot takes but the Tommy Fury stuff was dead on - Ariel's smoking some kinda crack if he thinks it's even close between Jake vs Tommy and Jake vs Silva

Hipster Ric at it again. Try open scoring once and then circle back to awful takes.
