Penix throws a ton of short WR screens and he's accurate.

A 'screen' is usually BEHIND the Line of Scrimmage ... The doubters are talking 10-20- yards downfield... but I think that can be coached ... like, make sure your feet are properly planted and aligned the right way
@dansmith680
@dansmith680 2 ай бұрын
A WR screen to the opposite hash can be a 10 to 20yd throw. Just cause its not a forward pass doesn't diminish the need for accuracy. The better criticism of Penix is his ability to throw on the run. Or deal with pressure.

Ok picture this: Kraft comes and leans on the door frame of Eliot Wolf’s office holding a coffee mug and says “I’m gonna need this team to…um…get back to the playoffs next year…K? Sooo…if you could just go ahead…um…and move up on Day 1 and get us a top tier QB…um…that’d be great, K? Yeah….”

And Wolf, having been hypnotized by a now dead psychologist, and thus not GAF, trades back and selects a left tackle with the 13th pick.

As a Saints fan, Patrick Mahomes and the 2017 draft will probably be the biggest “what if” I wonder about for the rest of my life. Literally 1 selection away from drafting him, dammit…

I'm a Packers fan, and the reporting was that Green Bay really wanted Ray Lewis in his draft. Of course, Lewis was taken one pick before the Packers' turn.

Let's all remember that QB prices increased dramatically after WA tagged Cousins two years in a row and that reset the market substantially higher. Osweiler went to Houston at ~$17 million per, and Cousins signed with MN at ~$28 million per, and those were only a couple years apart. The owners want the tag, but they've also shot themselves in the foot with it.

Churning the QB position is not happening in Dallas. Jerry doesn’t draft QBs well
@swdierks
@swdierks 2 ай бұрын
"churning" the QB doesn't have to be year-to-year. Just draft 2 QBs every year, one in rounds 1-3, and one in rounds 4-7. Then 'churn' every 4-5 years. The point is to always have your starter on a rookie contract, and build around him. Free agency is better than the draft for every position but the QB anyway.

A team that could draft a QB in a surprise move, like the Chiefs with Mahomes and the Packers with Love, is the Rams. If Penix slides down to them, and rumor is he will because of his injury history, I think they are prime to get a guy to sit behind Stafford for a year.

QB analysis: Paralysis by analysis. You have the tape at seasons end. You've had the scouts doing the legwork. Now is the time for background checks, interviews and medicals. After spending whatever it takes, they're doing no better than 50-50 picking from the cream of the crop.

For the patriots why wouldn’t you jsut draft joe alt . Take the best lineman and rebuild your team with great players all around the qb like the 49ers . Why take the 3rd best qb behind a bad line and receivers. ?

It's all a gamble after all. Only a few No. 1 over all pick QBs have been successful in the NFL so far. How can we explain Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, even Brock Purdy? Teams draft the players with "potential". There is no surefire guarantee at all.

If you’re talking about churning the QB position then Dallas should be at the top of the list. Dak has proven he’s not good enough to take this team to the top. If you give him the next big contract you’re settling for mediocrity for the long term.

I heard Mike T loves Pennix to the Rams. If Kwesi is smart he'll stay put, draft Penniz @ #11, and the best remaining OL @ #23. For the most part, the only recent "trade ups" for QBs that have worked out were for Mahomes and Josh Allen. They're great and the rest have been disappointing.

Marvin Harrison is not going to be great. He’ll be a good number 1. But he is far from generational. What has he really done to make people think that. He’s not blindingly fast. He has good hands. I wouldn’t say they’re better the Fitzgerald or Calvin. His route running isnt top level.
