Their bunkers are perfect and totally consistent. The ones we play suck.

@@Tom_Swift for very firm bunkers with less sand, you have to take a wedge with less bounce and get very steep.

What strategy do they use to play out of bunkers with no sand in them like we deal with a public courses?
@warriorkidd56 ай бұрын
low bounce wedge, or drop your hands / the heel if the wedge which lowers bounce more and allows it to dig. practice it to get the feel of how hard u need to swing for different distances

Stay committed to the shot! By that I mean keep the body down through the contact with the ball and only release the upper body once you've completely swung through the ball. I release too early to and rush into my follow through to avoid getting stuck too far back and thin it like this as well. Hope this helps!

Dan Grieve teaches this method as well. If only there was a practice facility nearby. my only time to practice bunkers seems to be when I land in one.

Yep exactly like he describes it in his book. And another advantage is that swinging straight you need less speed so you can get even more control.

I tried this for the first time yesterday, in a tournament, no practice. Came out perfect, amazing, and has a tap in par. Could bunkers really be that easy? I have been playing 40 years... i would rate my bunker play at around 10 shots worse on my handicap. With this technique it seems impossible to hit the dreaded skull.
@John-yj7io6 ай бұрын
Just use the toe of the club, keeping the heel or hosel out of the sand. The hosel is what catches the sand. But still use a steep swing, hitting the sand behind the ball. Try it. It works like magic for me.

The conventional wisdom is that opening the face helps golfers avoid the club digging into the sand rather than gliding through it. 😊

just hit the slice method, it's easy as. And you dont have to squat low perfectly and look like a fool. Clubs are getting too easy - should have brought in standardisation a long time ago for the pro regarding wedges and lofts.

We the pro’s play bunkers out of the best conditions possible. For the rest of who play public golf courses, we hit out of bunkers that have no sand, have rocked, are poorly raked or kept up, feel like concrete. We play under extremely different playing conditions…so any instructional videos for amateurs to try to immulate the pros is a joke….

That’s fine if the bunkers on your course actually have sand. The muni courses many of us play have a thin layer of sandy dirt on top of hardpan. Try playing out of these with an open club face or worse yet a wedge with lots of bounce.
