In 2017 Dave Rubin was asked which moment had the highest impact in changing his mind on politics throughout his career at the rubin report. His answer was, when Larry Elder challenged him on systemic racism. This clips shows this moment.
I put a lot of effort into this video on the talk between Rubin and Elder. It takes many hours of work to skim through videos and do the editing in order to provide added educational value. Consider subscribing to the channel if you enjoy the selection. Also check out the facebook page of philosophyinsights, where we discuss the videos: / philosophyinsights-139... Larry Elder (conservative radio host) joins Dave Rubin to discuss the Black Lives Matter movement, systemic racism, and more.
Watch the full interview with Elder about Conservatives, Black Lives Matter, racism, Hollywood, and more, quoted under fair use: bit.ly/204K79F

James Tyler The far left doesn't lead to anarchy, it's socialists. Anarchists actually lean right at this point in history, if they understand what anarchy is (an absence of rulers), because at least for now the right is about preserving freedoms and demanding personal responsibility instead of collective responsibility. The rest of your post is good. Rubin is a good way to introduce leftists to conservatives without beating them over the head with a Ben Shapiro logic stick that they won't understand and will therefore ignore.

@Sock Cucka To answer your question and the one above, we Canadians don’t have your history of slavery, hence we don’t have a large black population or the related social problems that programs like the Great Society were meant to address. (Not that we don’t have social problems of our own.) And because we live so close to you, we get a lot of our news from the US media which has been pushing the systemic racism narrative. For those of us who have might have bought into that narrative, Larry Elder's arguments are eye opening.

Elder very generously gave Rubin an opportunity to make his case. We conservatives are always falsely accused of wanting to "silence" people, when in reality the opposite is the case. We want them to take responsibility for stating exactly what their data and logic lead them to believe and assert. And then we can put these ideas to the test and see if they can stand up to scrutiny.

It was Daves fault because he made some assertions that (when asked) he couldn't substantiate (systemic racism) If you are an interviewer, you should stick to asking the opinion of the interviewee, not imply your opinion is a generally accepted fact (American has systematic racism today) and then try to change the subject when backed into a corner. To Daves credit, he did admit that maybe he was wrong once he realized that he really had no evidence for his opinion (other than "everyone just knows this is true" )

You should take a look at Larry's second appearance on the Rubin Report. Dave details that his perspective on the matter changed when Larry challenged him in this episode. He frequently has people like Larry on his show that challenge his beliefs and perceptions and is not afraid to admit when a guest has changed his mind or forced him to look further into an issue that, as you say, he is "unprepared" to discuss. That's a quality to be respected in my opinion.

No One It's not pushing your own agenda. It's forcing them to consider their opinions on topics. If you just allow someone to move on after their reasoning has been refuted then you won't change their mind. By forcing them to dwell on it you force them to make a change
@JT-sq3sn
@JT-sq3sn 6 жыл бұрын
No One Not really. It is forcing people to consider their own opinions PAINFULLY hard and honestly. People will avoid questioning their own convictions because this is uncomfortable. They will try to move to another topic. You have to stop them. It is not only for their benefit to face discomfort but it is mostly for the benefit of anyone who listens and feels that they havent really got to the bottom of an issue because the interviewer was allowed to swiftly move on. Yoh dont want the conversation to be shallow. Exploring a topic takes time and effort and this must be seen in a conversation. Conversations in the 21st century are like fast food - quick and insubstantial. You dont get to the bottom of the matter in a short time and skipping on the surface of a problem!

Oh how about the facts that Larry Elder didn't say. For example, Larry Elder continues to claim that there is no systemic racism right? This is why these shows are a waste of time. You pick a guy that doesn't know about systemic racism and pick Larry Elder that is a denier of the systemic racism. For example, he used the police right? Why didn't he talk about the holder study where it clearly showed that the police were violating black people's 4, 5, and 14 Amendment rights to close a budgetary shortfall charging innocent people with crimes they didn't commit? Why did he not bring up Jena 6 or the police officers that arrested a black man in McDonalds after he was attacked by 5 white men because they didn't want him dating a white woman? Why didn't he bring up the man who was sitting waiting for his kids, and got arrested while doing so? Why did he not bring up that 20/20 did a study and showed nationwide black people are 95% more likely to be pulled over by the police than white people and that black people who are not even driving are required to prove who they are. Can you explain that? Larry Elder is a shill and we know it.

Ryooken Respectfully, incidents of racism as abhorrent as they are does not mean systemic racism. Your conflating the two . Just like climate change does not mean weather . Mr Elder is discussing two very different situations .
@Ryooken
@Ryooken 6 жыл бұрын
We are not talking about individual incidents stemming from private citizens in and of themselves. We are talking about the violation of the Constitution when those that represent the law either through deliberate action or simply failing to apply the law due to racial bias engage in behavior that violate the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We are talking about those in positions of authority engage in propaganda to sway public opinion to enforce racial bias that allow the changes to the laws that are harmful to the people of color. This is the current state of affairs and that has not changed. Larry Elder knows what systemic racism is but he is paid to say otherwise. We all know what oppression is. Most Europeans descended from people who fled oppression and don't need to be told what happens when the government mistreats their people at the behest of those in positions of power. We know the country was founded on racism white supremacy, that's not even a debate unless you are going to say that the founding fathers lied when they said what they were doing. So it would be odd that within the last 45 years that a country so founded would suddenly change and you still see examples of abuse and oppression. For example, the largest beneficiaries of welfare are white people and black people were prevented from getting welfare until 1968. However, the anger engineered by the media of black welfare queens has been going on for 4 decades. 2 of those decades welfare to work was in place where you have the working poor. Now look at the history from 1968 to now. White people who objected to blacks getting welfare despite paying into the system, created stipulations for black people as to what, and how that welfare could be obtained and or used. These same people were punished for using a system that was supposed to help them work their way out of welfare into a better life. Instead you had massive propaganda by the same people that didn't want black people to have welfare and that culminated in the welfare to work program. These same people only wanted the solution where welfare goes away and only white people would get welfare and you say there is no systemic racism. Just like you claiming global warming and climate change are two different things, instead of addressing the root cause that our actions are making the planet hotter and we are getting extreme weather because of it, which has fueled our last few decades of natural disasters. It's called the scientific principle of cause and effect. You guys love to argue the effect while ignoring the cause. Now the other guy is just as guilty do you want to know why? Because people that call themselves liberals are benefiting from oppression too. So, they make weak arguments, not truly understanding the scope of the problem giving guys like Elder a platform to promote this racist agenda. So white people can use Elder's comments as a way to shout down anyone that can show the legitimacy of systemic racism which is the only form of racism there is. Everything else is bigotry and prejudice. Without the power to act, there can be no racism.
@reyg7028
@reyg7028 6 жыл бұрын
Ryooken Respectfully Sir Yes we are talking about individual acts which have occurred. Even if they are engaged in public service and are representatives of the state . Although the state can be held liable for the actions of their agents . It does not show institutional racism or bias . Unless you have proof of an underlying agenda that is intentionally seeking to violate the Individual civil rights of people it is by its definition not systematic. Where is your evidence? Show me the agency that in the United States that has stated that they want to suppress the Constitutional rights of the people in the 21st century in America ,and I will be happy to fight it together with you . Shoulder to shoulder and side by side. You make a claim that “We are talking about people In a “position of Authority “ who use propaganda to sway public opinion to enforce racial bias that allow changes to the law that are harmful to people of color. “ Which is an opinion you state as a fact .Without ever backing up the claim with any evidence of any kind . Which people ? What authority? Which laws ? Are there some people who are prejudiced against blacks , Hispanics like myself or Asians . Yes of course. There are always gonna be outliers and assholes who are like that . But to state they’re in power is disingenuous at best . As far as my comparison to Climate and weather they are two disparate things. Regardless of the cause and effect of climate changes .which is why I used the comparison. Welfare has done more to destroy families since the 1960s than any other racist program ever with the possible exception of abortion. ( Founded by a racist to control the American Black population.by Margret Sanger . “Knowledge of birth control is essentially moral. Its general, though prudent, practice must lead to a higher individuality and ultimately to a cleaner race... How are we to breed a race of human thoroughbreds unless we follow the same plan? We must make this country into a garden of children instead of a disorderly back lot overrun with human weeds.”) The word “CONTROL “ is in the name of the program. Oh and your right . One party Has systematically repressed and suppresd blacks by racism violence, control and murder. They are called Democrats. They are the racists of American politics along with the useful idiots communist and socialists . President Lyndon Johnson just found and easy way to get the African Americans to follow the Party which has been keeping them down since the first slave ships dropped anchor in North America. When he realized that he could bribe the African Americans whom they had spent the last 100 Years suppressing . He said “These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.” And also is quoted as saying. “ I’ll have these N*ggers voting Democratic for 200 Years . “ Congratulations, this is the welfare state that you are arguing for . Good job. Do you actually think that Hillary Clinton from Illinois actually carries hot sauce in her bag and only “ casually mentioned it on a black radio station? Really? And that her mentor Senator Robert ( Grand Wizard ) Bird changed his tune or hers ???? Yes there is propaganda being used in order to keep Black people marginalized. It’s being used by the DNC and has been for a long long time sir. You seem extremely intelligent and are obviously well spoken. Take the Red pill and see what Morpheus ( Elder) is talking about. If you need to see a true example of systemic Racism looks like . It looks like the failed policies of Democratic Controlled Cities , with failed schools , social programs all controlled by the socialist teachers unions and leftist political hacks and the useful idiots of the socialists and collectivists who are the true oppressors of the communities who own you and your votes .

Tyler Potts I'm working in a school district thats really trying to see what we can do better to promote the success of blacks and Latinos as those are the minorities in our demographic. Sometimes people point out that minorities have scholarships tailored just for them, that universities and colleges are prioritizing them...for my learning what would you say is systematically wrong with public education that we need to be aware of as far as how it contributes to the lack of opportunities for minorities? I do believe there are times where teachers hold lower standards for minorities, but that's a person issue not a systemic one.

@Kevin Green, it's probably because Larry Elder isn't a collectivist idiot. Nor is he a black supremacist,unlike you. He thinks for himself and doesn't let skin color dictate his reasoning. He also does not promote victim-hood and it looks like you're pissed because you think you are entitled to being a baby.

There is no #1, slippery slope isn't a fallacy. Education system, family, culture and a plethora of other things have lead to our current state. Kids need fathers that have fathers, even now if some men were fathers, they'd be going at it blindly like virgins having sex after watching porn. Sure you'll figure it out but trying to stick your thumb up a womans ass and learning too late how to apply disciple have vastly different consequences.

Life form: I whole heartedly disagree. Immigration is not ANY problem at all. The number of immigrants total is simply not enough to make major economic changes. Remember also that the US has a net loss of Mexicans since the Great Recession.

Life form: The basis of Libertarianism is that everyone should be free to do whatever they want, unless it impinges on the rights of others. "Rights" are defined as one thing: everyone has a right to their own person, and a right to the products of their own effort. Nowhere in that equation is there an ability to exclude some other human from anywhere except one's personal property. BTW, the demographics of the US are heavily dependent on immigrants. The US population would be shrinking, as it is in Japan and Europe, with immigration. Those inflows of workers are the ones who are going to support Social Security in the next 50 years. Without them, SS will be bankrupt.

Life: It is almost impossible for immigrants to the US not to adopt the ways of Americans. That is because of the very, very attractive nature of life in the US as a law abiding citizen. Drug cartels can function in places with low investment in society, where crime can seem to pay. But once there is a way open to wealth with honest toil, criminal activity loses. Already, street corner drug dealers make less than minimum wage.

You are too stupid and racist if you think that! Just because African-Americans fell for the leftist victimization agenda doesn't make them stupid. Because they didn't fell for it, they actually embraced it to abuse for their own profit. Many are fatherless, angry, racist, troubled kids growing in a place that encourages crime. They became street smarts, and now the leftist democrats gave them a new power, and they are smart to use it. Stupid are their enablers, those that don't stand up to it, and those that think that because so many of them commit crime, do so because of stupidity. Of course just hearing this won't change many, but not because of stupidity, but because most are used to gains trough crime, and welfare state. And it's human nature, across all races, not a black problem to try and get as much as possible for as little effort as possible. Most wouldn't give up free money for jobs that takes their time, and earns them less, and forces them to make payments. Because it would not benefit them directly and fast. It would only benefit their children much later on, by the greater opportunities their children will have by actually having a chance to choose what to do in life, instead of living on welfare and in bad neighborhoods.

Red Pilled Dumbass, you do realize what "average" means right? IQ is on a spectrum across races, which means that there are geniuses and idiots in every race. I'm going to have to assume that you're leaning towards the later as your last sentence was mostly incoherent garble.
@valeriutrufin7557
@valeriutrufin7557 7 жыл бұрын
IQ between countries also can't be really objective in comparison, because the tests are different. You can't use the same test and translated in any language, since culture, ethnicity, religion, and other social constructs impact on how people think, and how they adapt to a standardized test. Any standardized test is not really fare to all people in one classroom because of differences of intelligence type. So how can you then try to put equal between an American standard, a Japanese one a Iraq one and a Nigerian one. IQ tests and scores are in itself a subjective generalizations of what westerners believe to be smart. I want to know how the smartest person in the world would survive if left alone in the Namibian Desert compared to a uncivilized bushmen?
@terrorsquadron6349
@terrorsquadron6349 7 жыл бұрын
Valeriu Intelliegence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge, that is it, there aren't any types of intelligence, just one. All the other intelligence like emotions are nothing but a sham to make dumb people feel good about themselves. I suppose the different intelligence types is how good their intelligence is. Like in Africa they are basically fucking retarded but in America they are not. IQ tests are not subjective they are indeed objective. You to explain how they are subjective. They are objective because you do not really need any prior knowledge. All you need to do is to take what to questions give you and form a right answer based on the question. Japan scored higher on average (105) on IQ tests than America, and blacks in America, who are westernized, score lower than white Americans (85, whites have 100). So from this understanding. The last question is a straw man, a complete straw man. You sir are an idiot.

Well, obviously it wasn't that obvious, if I had to ask you to elaborate. Elder isn't wrong. We do make men abandong their responsibility of beign the father. Sometimes child support and alimony get's enforced, sometimes not. Sometimes they don't even know the father. Sometimes women just let him walk because they don't want the fight and are happy with the government check. Sometimes they get pregnent just for the government check. And also there is the shitloads of fathers that live in indendtured servitude trying to keep up with the payments, while the bitch is having a new bf for 10 years +. Because marrying the new guy would end the payments coming.

Internet Police it does, of course... just nowhere near in the same levels it. of course it does. I walked into a bodega, and the arabic owner "Mike" spoke with a thick accent about changing the state's name to "Jew Jersey." You've got the occasional nut, random loose cannons, people that cross the street to avoid a black guy, and people that masturbate to interracial porn as if some representation of a power-flip or beastiality. but it's mostly either anomalous or effectively harmless... like Imus calling the female basketball players "nappy-headed hoes." It'll just keep dying out simply with age and exposure to other cultures.... maybe except for the Jews and Arabs. if a thousand years can't get them to drop their shit, I don't know what will.

We are always accused of wanting to "silence" people, when the exact opposite is true. We very generously want to give them an opportunity to speak and debate and educate everyone with facts and stats and logic and reason. Tell us what they really think! We don't fear such things. But of course this places a burden on them to make their arguments specific and testable. Josh, did you miss that part about heftier sentences for THE SAME CRIME? It's not about crack sentences vs. marijuana sentences, it's crack vs. crack, marijuana vs. marijuana.

Rubin's red awakening has been my favorite to watch. You can actually see it on his face when it happens.

Goddamn that's true. What an excellent individual. Exciting energy. Engaged, focused. And this is just the segment I was looking for. Thanks Philosophy dude. Add this to my Peterson and Sowell collection (oi, that sounds odd).

Why do I like Rubin? Because he allows his guests to talk, explain themselves, and defend their positions without name calling and keeps it civil.

Larry Elder is absolutely AWESOME. His familiarity with and ability to quote real statistics just blows these liberals out of the water. "SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE," not the platitudes and generalities. And they CAN'T.

Larry Elder has been a staple in L.A. talk radio for many years. Always loved listening to learned common-sense oozing from his calm, well-reasoning mind. The only question on my mind is.......... WHO THE HELL ARE THE 1000+ PINHEADS who gave this video a thumbs down???? What kind of knucklehead can hear the sound argument laid-out by Larry, and not realize that the truth is on his side....or better put, He has chosen as a thoughtful, intelligent man to place himself on the side of truth rather than on the side of blind, idiotic emotionalism which cares not for what is true and provable. In being the quintessential Larry Elder that I've always loved listening to, he's dug up the facts FIRST, then made up his opinions based on those empirical facts.

I want to send this to all of the people I follow on instagram who are posting black pictures with #blackouttuesday right now (most of which I unfollowed). But I don't want to start an argument. Some of these people cannot be reasoned with. It feels like everyone is going insane.
