I think so much of Codys success now is him working all those tiny shows between leaving wwe and aew starting. My man worked every promotion that asked and every night gave farewell speeches to those fans. That grassroots rebuilding of his credibility at you 40 person show and still being incredibly nice and personable as he is, you cant help but like the guy. He was driving the one driving AEW houses. The Elite took ROH to new heights and then Cody took it up another notch. Still cant believe Tony Khan let him go.

We all knew he was gonna leave, the only way for him to make his dad proud which was his wish was to accomplish the Big One, on the company that really matter, not on some mark rich guy company that doesn't even know what kayfabe is.

@@DragonHeart613you are absolutely right but DAMN would he make an awesome heel though! Have him turn on everybody and go on a revenge tour tearing down everybody WWE ever thought was fit to go over as the face of the company as he languished in the Midcard as a bootleg goldust. Tear down the pillars of the WWE, Starting with a face roman reigns. And ending with (stay with me now, because this one is weird) R-Truth! See, I know that sounds ridiculous, but hear me out: it has been established online that cody Rhodes sees R-Truth as his white whale. His final boss. And it's not like some friendly competition thing or anything like that. Nah. Cody wants to kick his ass for some inexplicable reason, AND HAS TOLD HIM SO!! TO HIS FACE!!! And he's apparently felt this way for a while, too! And how funny would it be, if truth continued to think it was just cody ribbing him, until his heel turn finally convinces him that he'd been dead serious the whole time. From here we see a whole other side of truth, where he stops clowning around and takes the match seriously, and we find that this motherfucker is a beast R-truth! Of all people! Gives cody his most brutal match! Like full on 5 star shit! And now we see what cody saw that made him his final boss! But he can't beat him! R truth beats cody, and takes the championship when no one else could! And immediately goes back to his old self and loses the championship on the following show in some Ridiculous fashion to like, the miz or somebody🤣

@@keithhightower646Isn't that sort of what they're doing with Miz right now, turning on R-Truth? Where Truth sees them as still friends messing around, being his likable goofy self, but not realizing Miz is fed up? That story makes more sense with those two than it does with Cody, and I doubt they'd do a R-Truth punching bag story twice, it would become a pattern. A Cody heel turn would make more sense a couple years from now with someone new. Probably not even Roman, they're nearly played out already. But I could see it with Randy Orton

It’s a great vid but what exactly is WWE supposed to be afraid of here? When the company releases a young wrestler (especially a wrestler that has only ever worked for WWE) they want that wrestler to go make a name for themself, go learn new styles, grow up, make money and GET OVER. Then come back and make even more money with the biggest company in the world. Cody did it perfectly! So did Drew McIntyre and so did Bobby Lashley. Jumping to AEW isn’t gonna do it because they don’t exactly have the greatest track record of polishing up the former WWE talent. So go to Japan, go to the indies, maybe go to TNA or AEW for 6 months at a time but make a name for yourself and then you’ll get the offer to come back! Why would WWE be afraid of that? Cody came back and star and then became an even bigger star with/for the company! Wrestlers like Cody, Drew and Bobby are the template for every wrestler that gets “future endeavoured.”

The craziest thing about him being Stardust was i couldn't even imagine that gimmick had to be Cody's idea because there's NO WAY the company that his father, a priceless worker behind the scenes and in the ring. To eventually find out it was the whole reason he left and did the indies and the REAL story was just like he stated, us fans just looked at it as sad. That whole situation I would of never imagined would happen to a Rhodes.🤷🏼😳😖 Also, the fact he was able to create his own path to ultimately perform on the top stage for the biggest prize in the industry is almost an impossible feat to accomplish. It's already a nearly impossible from even top tier WWE guys with long-term careers in WWE. Realistically 🥂 for everything post WWE that he accomplished prior to his return was all amazing un it's own right. Bullet Club, NJPW run, ROH run, bringing his wife to have a full roll in those companies to even being a part of creating a whole pro wrestling company from scratch that is now viable competition to WWE. Just purely amazing and admirable to accomplish just those separately but everything he has accomplished to now is unbelievable & purely unimaginable. PS, great editing and creating this Cody documentary. Well down!!!

cody is off on some of what he says. it's almost like he expected more because of his name. "you don't quit wwe, you get fired". that's ANY major promotions. these companies invest a lot in their wrestlers. they want a guarantee in their investment. if they invest a lot, just for the person to walk, then they lose money. people always want to support the superstars and act like they can do no wrong, yet, they are only humans. sometimes it isnt the company being a mean ole corporation, but the company is protecting itself, as it should. "that was rock bottom"...if a "fan" doesnt know who cody is, then i would say they arent really a fan or are a newer fan.

Will always wonder why Tony Khan and Cody Rhodes never work out because he's missed in aew
@georgeh4171
@georgeh4171 2 ай бұрын
The answer is Tony Khan. Guy is just a terrible boss and just avoids any type of confrontation. He essentially hid from Cody rather than have a talk with him to resolve their issues. He is the reason for all the current issues with AEW!

@@georgeh4171 idk I can't say Tony Khan is a bad a boss we only know what we hear but most bosses make terrible choices like Vince McMahon and Eric bischoff but hopefully they can repair the relationship honestly Tony Khan has gotten better but still has more to learn on business and personal relationships with his people hopefully he can grow to be a better

If Roman had real heat with Cody, he wouldn't want to drop the belt for him. Roman has power in the lockeroom, it's known that he kicks guys out when he doesn't like them, like Enzo Amore.

44:10 I feel like the FTR feud with the Bucks never reached its potential outside of the ring. Might be my favorite series of matches ever though. I really like the stuff they did with Hangman and Kenny wrapped in but FTE that pushed their fued to the back seat. Kinda tough when the most prolific character in wrestling is in the story. 🤠💩

On one hand he does his best work ever on the other side you see how someone can change an opinion of whioch he said will be unchangeable. In the end it's the "magic" of money. But that shows why someone should not run his mouth like his opinion is more woth than money when in the end it's not.
