To me, the moment that defined his carreer was the second time he finished second overall at the CrossFit Games in 2015. After that, he decided that it would never happen again, and so far it hasn't.

So the thing about Mat Fraser is that he gets better every year. This year he could have just chilled out on sunday and still won the Games. But no. He won 10 out of the 12 events, coming in for the other two in a close 2nd place. His Friendly Fran was so savage, household names like Vellner and Paulson were finishing at the 4'00" - 4'30" mark, he made the workout in 3'08" unbroken. He's so far ahead from everyone else no one can even scratch him. Mat Fraser is the GOAT!

For me, it was either that first sprint that he won, or the trail run at Aromas. Both of those were shocking moments when I realized that he really could do anything, and do anything better than everybody else. Who expects a man built like that to win a sprint, or a long distance trail run?

For me, it was the comeback he did last year. He got screwed out of so many points and I was thinking to myself that he can't possibly win this now.. Sure enough, he came out on top and I haven't ever been so inspired from watching Fraser. The guy is on a different level mentally and physically.

I know I'll get rolled eyes over this, and understanding that if you change one thing, you possibly change everything...if Mat hadn't tanked on his last events in 2014 and 2015, he would now be the proud owner of SEVEN CFG Championships, those two years were _that_ close.

Can we talk about how bad ass Haley Adams is? She is literally the only girl in there who isn't roided out
@mariahslittlelamb80494 жыл бұрын
@@HipDancerGirl23 WRONG! That is so laughable. People get around using steroids all the time. Haley Adams is the only female competitor not using steroids. Compare Tia, and Kari Pearce to physique competitors who are known to be on steroids and note that they have very similar physiques. Not to mention, they also have similar athletic abilities and physiques to crossfitters who failed drug tests like Anna Fragkou and Emily Abbott. There are doctors who are experts in steroid use who claim that all the female athletes at the Crossfit games use steroids. Also, you know nothing about the testing requirements for crossfit either, twat.

@@mariahslittlelamb8049 I don’t get this really. These guys (males+females) train fitness like no one else. They workout multiple times a day 365 days a year. One would look like that when they train as hard. Also they eat clean and healthy!!! Haley is young (18? 19? ) still and you can’t compare her physique to Tia/Kari/Brooke and the likes who have been on the scene for too long now. The fact that CrossFit openly exposes and shames juiced up “athletes” speaks of their mission to clean fitness. The top athletes in the scene get tested routinely and at unexpected times. It’s not fair to them to judge them and undermine their performance just because they are better than us. Feel free to call me a twat or you may reply intelligently. Cheers!

@@harf849 There is no doubt that in any elite competitive fitness venture steroid use will be present. Athletes have found ways to circumvent the steroid testing and crossfit has come under fire by numerous doctors who are experts in steroid use. I can send you links of doctors who treat female athletes who compete in crossfit and these doctors say almost every single one of these women are on steroids. People like Kari Pearce and Brooke Ence are proof of this. I am not taking away from the fact that they are incredible athletes and would be even better than me without steroids, I am just calling to the truth. Steroid use is rife within the sport of crossfit.

The defining moment in Matt Fraser’s career was when he was a fat kid playing soccer and the ball went out of bounds and some kid said. “Go get the ball fat ass”. Deep inside his soul he said. “ never again”

This video completely misses the mark - it only focuses on the outcomes. There was no defining moment at a competition. The defining moments were all those times that Matt made the conscience choice to smash his weaknesses. There is a moment in 2106 CFG movie where he says he says to Katrin “I never want to hear my name called as 2nd fittest.” It’s when he hires Hinshaw and says he wants to be great at sprinting and running.

'An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.' I'd confidently say CrossFit pretty much fits that description
@davidhooper2594 жыл бұрын
Absolute Beast entertaining? So much so it was dropped by ESPN as the activity is supposedly growing and when the standard of TV viewership should be easy to obtain in the summer for its largest event being that the only competing sports are the WNBA and midsummer MLB. It’s a workout or physical activity not a sport. Outside of timed events that don’t require full range of motion lifts that are judged by self certified online judges who volunteer who allow poor form to exist or form completely ignored by poor judge criteria; the lifts or quasi-gymnastic movements require momentum or dangerous form that result in injury that would never be allowed from the actual strength sport or otherwise from which they came from. Under that premise football shouldn’t worry about horse collar tackling, spearing or clipping any more to believe it’s exciting. It doesn’t bode well as a “sport” when nearly half of CrossFits’ participants decease by nearly half in a two year span.
