Oh yes I love the Monkees! Davy was my favorite one. I had a picture of Davy on my wall at home. Although I do like Mickey, Peter& Mike. I love the TV show! 12/11/21 Mike Nesmith has just passed away. It is sad that Mickey is them only one left of the Band. It is good that Mickey and Mike got some time on stage together before Mike passed.

@@nmtg I don't know how many of their recordings you've heard, but check out their Headquarters album in which they wrote and performed much of their own music. (unlike the soundtrack to the TV show). Personally, I love all their stuff. ;-). Thanks for the comment.

@@AlonzoWhite Yes, I’ve been listening to a ton of stuff including Headquarters. Today I’ve been listening a lot to Peter’s version of I Don’t Think You Know Me. But I love discovering more. I’m also enjoying the Live 1967 stuff. Last night I discovered the Live in Japan 1968 collection here on KZbin. I have Spotify and there’s a lot there but I know there’s much more. Just started watching Head. My other favorite right now is The Porpoise Song. Between the episodes, KZbin stuff and websites. It’s overwhelming. I just borrowed Mike’s bio from the library. LOL. I’ve probably just made you dizzy. My family is completely sick of my obsession

I've been listening to many of their songs over the last few days...reminiscing about much younger days. "More of the Monkees" was the first album my sister and I ever bought. They had some fantastic songs. Of course there are the hits and favourites, but I've just discovered gems like Shades of Grey, What am I Doing Hanging Round, You Bring the Summer and a beautiful Christmas ballad Riu Chiu. Davy was my crush, my younger sister's was Micky....he really did have a wonderful voice. The harmonies were superb.

I remember being a child in the 60s and going to the hairdresser one Saturday morning. The lady, who was a good friend of my mother's, kept running back to watch TV because the Monkees were on. I was about 8 at the time and I thought only us kids watched that show. When the lady started washing my hair, that is when she told me that she absolutely loved the Monkees. She had to be about 40 at the time. 😊

When the Mokees were on their 1986 20 year anniversary tour they played in Mt View CA. My friend and I were obsessed with them so towards the end of the show, and I still have no idea how, we ran up on stage! I ran directly into Mickys open arms and my friend ran straight to Davy. We managed to kiss their cheeks and scream in their ears until we were booted off by a fat security guard. They were both so gracious and kind to two out of control screaming teenagers. Still one of the greatest experiences of my life! Lol

I, too, saw their 1986 anniversary concert when they were in Philly. They were as "spot on" both vocally and musically as they were back in the 1960's, and that show was amazing. It was quite a nostalgic, wonderful moment for me, as I had always wanted to see them live. Even though I was crazy about them back in the 60's, and wanted desperately to go to their concert when they played at the old Civic Center in Philly back then, my parents said I was too young (I was 10), but my cousin (who was 11) got to go, and I was heartbroken. Hope you saved that huge colored program from that '86 concert, because it may be worth something someday.

written by John Stewart of The Kingston Trio...that song's royalties set him up for life...The Monkees producers changed the lyrics slightly After Stewart heard how much he would get for it , he was o.k. with it...it was a huge hit for the Monkees and also a big hit for Anne Murray a few years later.....if you ever heard John Stewart sing it, I don't think you would recognize it.... similar to many of Bob Dylan's songs which seem so much better when song by someone else....

Mike was my favorite then and when he formed The First National Band, some really beautiful songs, especially Joanne. I have both The Monkees and the First National Band recordings. He was so very talented. It wasn't just an "earlier version of MTV", he is considered the father of MTV. Too bad that MTV was destroyed, just so people could make more money with garbage "reality shows". A true innovation! I'm 26 years older than my daughter and we were both fans. Every Monday night way back then, I would have dinner at my friend's house, then we would watch their show on her big color console TV set (sadly, my parents could only afford a black and white set back then). We also used go to her house at lunchtime and after school to play all our albums on that same TV/stereo console set. We even formed our own little Monkees group back in 4th grade, where we would argue constantly over who would "be" Davy on any given day. Of course, my friend (with the TV/stereo) also owned mirachas, so, of course, she always won. LOL ...best of times to be a kid back in the 60's...irreplaceable memories...

Sorry to hear that three (3) of them are now deceased-Davy, Peter and now Mike. Mickey is the only one left. But it’s good to know and remember what they accomplished-it will never be forgotten ❤🎼🎸🥁🎤🎧🌹!

I always loved Davy and Mike Nesmith. God bless them all. I met Micky dolnez many years ago. It was exciting to see him in person but unfortunately he was divorcing with his wife and Michael Landon was not well. I will miss the Monkees. They were my favorite while others loved the Beatles.

If you watch the 1979 Reasonably Spontaneous Conversation with him that I saved from oblivion and posted here on YT, there's a comment there from someone who worked with him at the singing waiter job.

CORRECTION - Coronation Street is made by ITV in the UK - NOT, as the video says, BBC. Coronation Street is filmed in Salford, Manchester in England.

Coronation Street is made by granada TV which is on lTV a commercial channel, not the BBC. Their soap is called East Enders. Both have been running 🏃‍♂️for years. I do enjoy watching your channel by the way. I was in total infatuation with Davy Jones. My favourite ❤song 🎵was cheer up sleepy Jean mostly because Davy was the lead on it . My goodness 😳those were the days. 🐒🐵😘🤩

I noticed that but most Americans have heard of the BBC and have not heard of ITV. I think that's why?

@@joolzg1936 yes I am sure that is why. It's kinda weird 😳when most of the world 🌎think of the UK ìn terms of the BBC and not factoring in the relevance of any other channels. The BBC seems to be losing a lot of its popularity just now though with a lot of English people not wanting to pay for the TV licence anymore. I don't watch it at all preferring the variety of you tube. Shame really 😕

"Girl" was the song Davy sang on The Brady Bunch in 1971. After he reprised the song in The Brady Bunch Movie he added it to the Monkees concerts from that point on

This whole label of "the pre-Fab Four" is obviously wrong! Like Bob Dylan, they were heavily into putting together bands and performing even as kids, and all were seasoned actors/musicians brought together by a single magnet (TV STARDOM!!). But then they had a slew of hits, and no one stood behind them working them like ventriloquist's dummies. They did it themselves. Not bad for a band that was "thrown together".
