I attended Cavestomp and saw the Monks. This clip, I think is their second gig at the 'Stomp. I spoke to all five of the Monks AND got a chance to meet Ms. Day, too. I was right at the front of the stage. Also got a chance to speak to most of the Standells! Great concerts!

I too was lucky enough to attend both Cavestomp! monks shows. I agree with gilgamess that this is almost certainly from the Sunday set - on the Friday, Mike Fornatale handled most of Gary's vocal parts, as the latter had blown his voice out during rehearsals. (Also, on the Friday I was right down front in front of Eddie, and I don't see me in the clip!) After Gary introduced Mike, a young woman standing next to me said "They could have gotten ANY of us to do that!" and she had a point - I and seemingly everyone around me was singing gleefully along with every BLACK MONK TIME song. SO great.

And Mensch. He was such a sweet , gentle soul. But , he was'nt about bullshit. He really had a handle on what was going on in the world.

Agreed- he is missed in many ways. Too bad there aren't more mayors like him too!! Please take a look at the video I did about him.

I will. I was fortunate to know Gary in the capacity that I did. Not as well as others did . but , I spoke with him a couple of times a year. I had no idea he was ill. I had a very nice talk with him just a few months before he went way down.....to Heaven. Got a reason to cry. Dave was a real prince among men. PeopLe gravitated toward him because he was such a sweetheart , a big kid who loved R'N'R , NOT because he was a Rock star , tho' he was. i Did'nt know Roger , personally ,but I was so glad I could attend this show.

I didn't know him well, but was fortunate to have made his aquaintence- didn't even know about the Monks at the time. I never met any of the others in the band. Sorry for the loss of your friend- this has been a reminder to me to let people know how much we appreciate them when we can. I didn't know he was ill either-wish I had, and had kept in touch more.
