I frequently joke about being the eccentric internet aunt, but the reality is, I'm actually an aunt in real life too. This new song is for my sweet little niece and nephew. I make a lot of scary content, but at the end of the day, it's important to remember, all the monsters in the stories can't really hurt you. And for those who struggle pushing the thought from their mind, maybe instead it'll be easier to imagine a good monster fighting on your side. I hope you enjoy this lullaby.

Lyrics:
look to the soft and misty skies
the moon is full and wind is blowing
now please love don't you close your eyes
I see your fear is growing
you do not have to be afraid
darling please be brave
there's nothing out there quite like me don't you see?
Not every monster's scary
sometimes they are on your side
I'll leave the bad ones wary
I'll gnash and bite, they'll run and hide
you don't have to fear the dead
you've tamed the monster underneath your bed
You don't have to fear the night
'cause I'll be watching you 'til morning light
the forest's mellow and the
stars are clear the night is full of wonder
should any creature threaten you
I'll tear them all asunder
you do not have to wake in fear
'cause darling I am here
Just put your hand inside of mine
We'll be fine
Not every monster's scary
sometimes they are on your side
I'll leave the bad ones wary
I'll gnash and bite, they'll run and hide
you don't have to fear the dead
you've tamed the monster underneath your bed
You don't have to fear the night
'cause I'll be watching you 'til morning light
Even the darkest of nights end in sunlight
so I'll do my best with the rest
you know we'll be alright
I'll do my best with the rest
so hush now close your eyes

I know that you are scared, But please don't live in fear. You may not feel it's fair, But I am always here. Ghosts that dance 'round your room, I assure won't cause you harm. They would never hurt you, None could measure their hearts. The sun may be warming, With all its glowing light, But if pain's coming, I swear I'll hold you tight. Monsters under your bed, Hide and wait to jump out, And crawl inside your head, Once you release a shout. This song reminds me of a story I read somewhere about a child not fearing the monster under their bed because the human monster (their dad or step dad, I think) was much scarier and would come in at night to abuse them. This made the monster under their bad angry and they promised to protect the child and when they did, the child slept better at night.

So, I was just playing this on repeat and the lyrics made me realize something huge This song is like... exactly the relationship I feel with my sister’s spirit She passed away at two weeks old, before I was born. Her name is Bella. We have a container with most of her ashes in it, but smaller bits were put into necklaces for myself, both of my parents, my older sister, older brother and our grandmother. I can feel a sort of energy around the charm of mine, a small silver heart that hangs, ironically, right over my own heart. I get genuinely anxious and panicky if I’m not wearing her and, like I just did, often refer to the necklace as Bella rather than saying something like it. Anyway, I feel extremely safe when I wear her and this song just makes me think of her. I mean: Not every monster’s scary, sometimes they are on your side Makes me think of how many people fear spirits and even I fear some, but not her. I’ll leave the bad ones weary. I’ll gnash and bite, they’ll run and hide Makes me feel like she’s been protecting me from negative spirits for all the years I’ve had her with me You don’t have to fear the dead, you’ve tamed the monster underneath your bed How she knows I’m not afraid of her You don’t have to fear the night, ‘cause I’ll be watching you ‘til morning light How she’s always there to watch over me, like my guardian angel. And yeah, that’s basically it. I just wanted to say thank you for making this. It seriously made me realize a lot.

I looked around the room slowly after the mother closed the door. It was fairly bland with nearly no toys and no clothes laid anywhere. Timothy, the kid I was tasked with scaring, was drawing carefully and jumping with every outside noise. After several minutes, he put the paper on the ground near me and rolled over. When I picked up the paper, I saw an angry stick figure with a mustache yelling at a smaller stick figure. There was another drawing on the page of a fallen cup and ominous red splats. I paused and looked at Timothy. Just barely noticeable were bruises indicating abuse. Oh. I climbed slowly onto Timothy's bed and brushed his hair away from his youthfully round face with my long claws. When he woke up I saw horrifyingly dull emotions in his stormy gray eyes. Kids his age should be full of life and bright, not dull and... emotionally dead. "Oh Timothy, who did this to you?" I asked softly with my deep and somewhat scratchy voice. He looked dead into my eyes and turned his back to me in a display of indifferent tiredness. After several moments I laid down and clutched his small body against my horrifyingly lanky one. Unsure of what to do, I simply started singing. I sang softly and my voice gained a melody I never thought I'd hear as I held Timothy. There's only room for one monster in this kid's life, and the father depicted was far too cruel. I will be the monster for Timothy, and I will make sure he gets the love and care he needs. I am his monster, and he my human.

I read a story on Bored Panda about a grown up Monster Under The Bed (MUtB) & their human who they followed for the rest of his life. It was originally posted from the Tumblr "writing-prompt-s" as the start from hearing a voice thanking the human for a morsel of food dropped under the fridge, you see the MUtB could be under anything where it's human lived & had grown to be friends with them. "Writing-Prompt-S" gave the start with a voice coming from under the fridge, & "BethanyTheMartian" filled in the rest with it having been the MUtB grown up with them. The ending is when a burglar broke in, & had their foot too close to the edge of the bed, & the human was protected by their old friend.

I'm afraid of the dark. So much so that I have had sleep paralysis and nightmares since I was younger. But for some reason this makes me feel a little better.

May I use this song as inspiration for a story? I might even try to make it into a book but I don’t want to take it without your permission. Maybe I would incorporate some of the lyrics or the song as the monster sings the lullaby to the child(ren) of the story but I would make sure to credit you.

cute. but why fear whats in the dark. you should fear what comes from the light. you expect bad things from the dark so your wary and prepared. you dont expect things from the light making it hurt more. my sibs have nothing to fear from the dark for I am what lurks.

so this song helped me get an idea for my sister see she thinks a monster is gonna come in the front door (her room is in the living room) I made up a story called pillow monster and it goes if you draw him then put him under your pillow he will come alive and eat the bad monsters if they come after you and yeah so if she gets scared I will sing this to her (she thinks the song is about pillow monster XD) then show her he's still under her pillow ready to eat bad monster then she will go back to sleep so thank you so much for the inspiration now she stops calling for help at night (she doesn't scream or cry she just calls for me to come to check for monsters XD)
