In "The Battle of Magh Tuireadh", the Morrigan promises Her and Her people support against the Fomori to the Dagda. So by this point She is already an established powerful goddess with established networks of followers offering to support a newcomer to become the ruler of the land. I've interpreted this to mean that the Morrigan was representing the sovereignty of the land and saw the Dadga and the Tuatha Dé Danan as superior stewards of the land over the Fomori. She formed a ritual marriage with the Dadga to join his people and the land to seal the union. I think by implication She once did this with a king of the Fomori long ago but later generations abused the land and the people, so She picked a new lord of the land. The pouring of the dead Fomori's king's blood after the battle into the same part of the river She lay with the Dadga seems symbolic of dissolving the old bond in favor of the new. As for what happened to Cú Chulainn, modern readers suffer from some tactful translations. When Cú Chulainn refuses the Morrigan, his reply is more along the lines of calling Her a weak woman who can only manipulate men by sex appeal. Or more colloquially, he called Her a wh*re. In short order, She manipulated him to murder his best friend and horse, arranged for him to die horribly and afterward as a crow, She probably _ate_ him. It's best not to make Dark Goddesses angry.

Listening to your story is wild. I went through an extremely similar family situation. I believe the Morrigan has been there for me, but I’m only just now seeing her. Thank you so much for sharing❤

Holy Goddess, you are amazing... a clear, exciting manifestation of the Morrigan herself... a High Priestess incarnate... I love you.

@@TheStitchingWitch I’ve only been working with her since the most recent Samhain, so I really don’t have much experience at all compared to you! I’m in that weird position that I’ve done so much reading that I’ve spooked myself out of actually communing with her 😂

@@croczrule that’s so awesome!! Samhain is like //Her// holiday so that’s the perfect time to start working with Her. The Morrígan can be very direct and intimidating at first but once you start really devoting yourself to her, I’m sure you’ll see amazing transformation and develop a beautiful practice with her!! I say go for it! I believe in you!!!

@@TheStitchingWitch I had an AMAZING first experience with her - she was definitely direct, but subverted every expectation I had of her. Now I need to work up the courage to speak with her again! Everything I read makes her seem so intimidating 😅 I’ve got to get my head out of the books!
