This was the first time in ANY NRS game that i un-installed the game before all the dlc was released, hated the story, hated the dlc, hated the Kameo system, hated Khaos Reigns, hated invasions, hated the gear system, and i hated the microtransactions. Actually the day khaos Reins came out i was instead playing Zenless Zone Zero rather then the story expansion, then when i played it one week later i hated the story. Hopefully, and i mean Hopefully nrs learns from this with Injustice 3 or the next mk game

@ summon assist shouldn’t exist, a real push block to deal with pressure, strings should come out faster, projectiles unless ex shouldn’t knock down while standing, d1s should combo into other lows or block strings like street fighter so example d113 and if you block it the string moves players far enough to reset neutral

A lot of Casuals left early. Top players keep saying they think MK1 gameplay is good, but you'd find casuals don't like it. They changed EX moves to be a just input from the easy input. Reddit was full of people saying they could not do simple combos on account of this. Also the Kameos make it that you cant really learn the matchup - you also have to weave them into your combos with tight timing. What appeals to the better players and casuals is not the same. Add to that the bad pricing and boring offline.

I’m a casual Mortal Kombat fan I recently got MK1 after watching countless videos of ppl trashing it. I tried it out and honestly it’s so fun all the characters are easy to learn on a simple - mid level I don’t really care for customization so the lack there of doesn’t bother me and I actually really like the Kameo system it’s actually really cool and something that I hope they keep even though I know they won’t but that’s just my two cents from a casual player

I think that WB axed the game because to them (the producers, not NRS) it's all about the money income, if in 2024 the game financially performed badly they/WB just move on, to them it is just a product that "malfunctioned". I believe that NRS actually care about MK1 but they are on the leash of WB, so NRS has to do what they say, otherwise NRS could possibly lose the financial support from WB. Also, keep in mind that WB in 2024 had its ass kicked by Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, which bombed terribly on all fronts. So, in order to save themselves as a company, MK1 was one of the victims, that had an overall mediocre performance, even if they said that thay want to keep the MK franchise alive in the future (after all MK1 sold a lot of copies). Obviously I don't know what happened behind the scenes between NRS and WB, and chances are we'll never know. My bottom line is: at the end of the day, it's always a matter of money. It's my opinion that the DLC underperformed because it came out when the base game was in a sort of "doomed" state, players where unhappy about the game (both pros and casuals), at EVO 2024 it had the least numbers of players (which says a lot for a MK game). The DLC story was bad, which added more fuel to the fire around the game, so as soon as the first opinions about the DLC were around, some poeple kept some distance. The genderbend of two of the most popular characters of the game weren't exactly accepted by the MK community. The lack of a Kript mode: the devs created this Invasion mode which was a mix between a Kript and the classic Kombat, and I think a lot of players didn't like (probably mostly casuals). Personally think that the Kript in MK11 was perfect. It has been the sum of a number small things about the game that allowed the game underperform.

They had such a good line up of characters for this game to have easily be one of the best in the series, but good lord they butchered the game and that’s even an understatement for how bad this game is overall. Kameo system is one of the worst implemented gameplay design choices in any nrs game because not only does it overcomplicate the game, but it can genuinely never be balanced unlike a single fighter v fighter system like MK11 or Tekken for example, which arguably is the most balanced MK of the series. (This is not mentioning how it pushed away a lot of the casual player base because of its ridiculous mechanics and complexity. Speaking of balance, the game’s balancing has been absolutely atrocious, from being unable to fix a player side bug for many months to letting absolutely busted characters run the game for over half a year, not to mention the already pre-existing problems of the kameo system. Customization and cosmetics as well is the poorest it’s been and genuinely makes you question why you would play the game if there’s barely any progression for the characters you play. The monetization also just doesn’t make any sense in comparison to their previous entries like MK11 or MKX. Just saying everyone, this game really has been one of the worst fighting games I’ve seen in a long time, which sucks to say because again, this game had potential to be a really good MK game but with all the issues I’ve mentioned and possibly more I haven’t said, it shows with how many people don’t even care about this entry of the MK series as opposed to other fighting based games that are performing so much better than this game in particular. Makes me miss previous NRS titles like Injustice or MKX.

In my opinion NRS & WB deserve every bit of negativity that comes their way. I really am blow away by some of the slack that people have given NRS over the years now for not being able to provide us with a decent product. I think people forget that we are customers for their product and their product is sub - par at best. MK11 did this exact same thing to us. Promised a long life and years of content and updates and that is not what we got. The rug was pulled out from us by year 2. Then all the shake up at NRS and WB came out and years later we get MK1. MK1 in comparison to its rivals was completely bare bones. Missing systems that all 2024 games are coming with. IE practice mode while waiting for matches, lobbies etc. COMING SOON written in its menus for over a year. But yet no problem chugging out $10 fatalities, announcer voices and skins. Which you all fucken blindly buy while the actual product is sub fucken par. To expect that the next game made by NRS will be anything but broken, overpriced and filled with micro transactions and basically pay to win is ludacris. Not to mention the complete lack of communication that happens once the player bases realizes that the game is a hot mess. Honestly guys stop giving these companies your money. This includes character designs, the Kameo mechanic, gender-swapped characters, and overall gameplay. While Warner Bros. may have pushed for microtransactions and rushed development, the rest of the choices were made by NetherRealm. So, both are at fault.... keep up the great work.

Hard to hate on games I don’t play, but I’ve been a subscriber since mkx and I feel like that gameplay has never been replicated. It just was so much more fast paced and the graphics (besides the backgrounds) felt more natural. Everybody looks like a cartoony mocapped person now and it’s gone uncanny. Idk if I’m alone with that but I truly think mkx even looks better than 11 and 1’s weird art style. To be fair, I only ever watch super play.

Diehard MK fan for over 30 years. From that very first time i saw Mortal Kombat in the arcades I was hooked. Never liked 3d era but i begrudgingly stuck by it as i was still invested in the lore. But MK1? I have never in my life hated a game of any genre, franchise or generation as MK1. This game was a spit in the face and kick in the nuts by WB and NRS. The only MK game I dropped and never went back to before the first dlc package was even halfway complete.

Super, I think we have to stop defending NRS everytime like ''Yeah, they had good intentions but that evil WB always fucks them''. With this attitude no matter what NRS does they will always feel like they have their fans backs. They will never improve on things that are lacking. They will be producing half baked games, put a premium price tag and leave the game in that state for eternity. Im willing to pay good money for a good MK game but I just cannot accept that every next MK feels like they don't learn anything. Four years of production time is enough to implement a basic fucking thing like Onlien Rooms for God's sake!!! They dont have to reinvent the wheel everytime they make a new game. For example: I main Liu Kang in every MK game. MK1 Liu is the most boring, dull Liu I have ever played. He is less interesting than in MK11 wich already was boring as fuck. Mk11 Liu was less interesting version of MKX Liu too. So why not use moveset and special moves of MKX Liu when he was the best? NRS is wasting time reimagining already existing characters while they already have them in pretty good state but in previous games. I think MK needs to be careful with the next title because we got burned again with the cancellation of KP3. If it doesn't have KP3, I won't support the next title at launch. This is the second time we've been lied to regarding post launch content. KP3 for MK11 would've been epic...never came out.

Idk why but to me this doesn’t feel like an MK game. I know that sounds dumb, but there’s just something about it. It really has that injustice feel, but with MK features. I personally prefer MKX and 11 over this game, this imo is the best roster since MK9, but it doesn’t make up for everything else. I also hate this multiverse shit, I’m not a fan of them changing cyrax and Sektors gender either. I’m sure I’ll get hate for saying that and I’m not being sexist I just don’t like when games/movies change a characters gender/race to me it’s pointless, the multiverse theme doesn’t make it acceptable. If they wanted to change them because of that then they should just did it for them as kameos vs the actual fighter to not piss people off. Main roster characters should be the original character they have been in previous games and kameos can be the multiverse version.

I think this was just a test subject to try something new/Switch up their traditional way of making a mortal kombat game, Which Sucks because regardless we’re gonna support any mortal kombat game, so it’s good to have these type of conversations amongst eachother

Here are my suggestions for the next game: - Bring back the classic roster from MK9 - Bring back customization and variation system from MK11 - Bring back the insane fast-paced gameplay from MKX - Bring back the "serious vibe" from MKX - Stop with the retcons, timelines and multiverse BS - Stop the Marvel-like writing style, everyone is exhausted of that writing style And in my opinion, the most important: - STOP PUTTING CONTENT BEHIND PAYWALLS! GTA V has been getting free dlcs for over 10 years and NONE of the content is behind a microtransaction, YES it has a lot of grinding, but I'd rather have to grind to get a skin than having to buy it. Heck, I'm fine with them charging like 2 bucks for every DLC character but PLEASE no more microtransactions for skins, this is a 60 dollar AAA game, not a free mobile game for God's sake!

For single player content, they cut everything that made me want to continue playing. This game has great combat and the kameos are fun along with a great roster, the problem is invasions. I like invasions but the huge issue here is at the beginning this is all you had for single player and once you're finished that's it. Also to level up your character to get dragon crystals you have to do a tower and invasion boss but once you beat them this is the only time your character levels up higher. Play it again and you don't get as much as you did the first time. You were forced to wait for next season. Once towers of time returned, it wasn't as good as mk11, there rewards were better like certain towers had gear and skins for a character. Also there was a specific tower that gives your character an intro, outro, taunts, gear and skins. The Tower's for MK1 level up your character bar but not much rewards. Sure there's 2 towers to play to get skins but that's it, it just feels like you're just leveling up the bar to get skins for that week until it ends. For example playing the tower reward was only to get the Ghost face announcer. Is it good yeah but that's the only good reward, everything else is just recolors. The gear is smaller compared to mk11, what's worse is that the dlc characters only get 6 or 9 pieces while the main roster just gets re- colors. Mk11 has recolors but they weren't as obvious, for example a rare Raiden hat has dark blue while common has blue. Overall the recolors were common rewards for tower's but now you play them for a week or 2 just to get the same skin but different color. My personal issue would be slots, I like to have a theme with a skin like make a God Raiden but there's only one slot. I tried randomize favorites but the skin and gear pieces would not go to the right place. When I go to the store I only get the costumes I really want but even though the Klassic skins look good, I only have the one slot, so I'm careful with what I pick. I wish they'd just give 3 slots, they did this with other mk games and especially mk11. Again my personal issue. The story I did like until multiverse and Khaos Reigns Didn't have any consequences except Noob. Overall for single player content there wasn't much and even though they added towers of time it isn't much. The talismans are ok but not much. It just disappoints me this gameplay has to be the best in the series, I really want a KP3 but most likely the game is done with T1000.

At this point the only thing left for me to do is master the roster and learn to play unorthodox teams that I find fun to play and that’s it. The game has no content and I don’t count color swaps as skins that’s bullshit.

I really hope they don't end MK1's season 3 dlc and more expansions of it. The story was never its strong point but the story is ok. I'm still interested in the story becuz they just left it on a cliff hanger so I do want to see more. The gameplay is awesome and fun. I ain't gonna lie invasion mode got kinda boring and I do miss the krypt. We need another konquest mode. Imagine a semi open world like in Deception and Armageddon.

Only a few times ill buy a full priced game, silent hill 2 is one i never regret, Elden Ring, but i bought MK1 full priced, with confidence ill like it because 11 took time to cook but it headed in the right direction, oh boy was i so so wrong. Its about as sad as destiny 2. Im so so disappointed. More people are playing 11 over 1 on steam, it blows it out the park

I think it would be cool to see you venture out to other games now like Marvel Rivals which actually has some pretty complex melee characters who operate like fighting game characters or if you want to stay in the fgc loop maybe a new fighter, tekken 8 is going into its 2nd season soon idk just anything other than mk or injustice would be nice to see cause netherrealms hasn't been on the ball at all for the past 3 games now

as someone who LOVES mortal kombat and has played mk9, mkx, and mk11 for endless hours each, i can tell you this game didn't give me that same energy. I never thought ide quit a modern mk game but this one just doesn't feel like mortal kombat with the complete lack of content, pointless changes of characters we loved, time travel boring nonsense, removal of the krypt, half the customization options compared to last game, and kameos implemented into everything during gameplay. There is a reason this game flopped so hard and has done so badly. we waited double the time for this game yet it has half the content of the previous. Please netherrealm do better next time.

The biggest issue with mk1 is the mistep worh the single player content. It is too dependent on an online connection to unlock literally anything. Just today i tried an invasions tower, completed it, only to get a disconnect from the mk server and get no rewards. I have fiber and the connection didnt drop but why is there even a network check after this offline gameplay? There is also a problem with not even knowing what rewards you are going to get so i dont even know why im playing 90% of the time. This was not the case im mk11. You could always see what a tower was going to give you and decide to put time into it, there were multiple locked items in the crypt that you could work towards that would gaurantee an item for a character you wanted so you knew what to grind for. The shrine does not just constantly hold content and you can clear out the shrine for each season in a few hours if you dont just have leftover currency to clear the second there is more stuff. I hate this singleplayer direction. The cosmetics that are given for free should not be so precious and so random in mk1 especially when they arent even charging for the basic pallettes so why is there no clear way to get them? Its terrible and there is no saving that aspect even though the gameplay is solid.

The issue mk1 has, is WB. It was clearly released before it was ready, and many suspect it was pushed out to not clash with suicide squad. That tells you all you need to know. They screwed over mk for that mess. If the game was released as it is right now, it would have faired much better. Some would still have issue with the kameo system, but if the game was polished, more players would have stuck with it. And now, wb have apparently screwed the game again by scrapping content. Right when the game is in a position to redeem itself somewhat, wb stick their fingers in again and screw it up. Long story short, WB are poison.

I was putting in so many hours until the beginning of December, I actually deleted it off my console to make room for better games. Probably redownload it when the next dlc character drops. Definitely disappointed with the direction of this game. I'm craving another injustice but I feel like they're gonna ruin it 🙄

Mk1 is visually pleasing enough for me to put time into it to learn. The mechanics are easy to understand and experiment with. I have been purchasing mk games since mk9 but never played beyond story modes or messing around it for more than 20 offline matches. I just enjoyed watching the top player play more than putting in the hours to grind and get better. I didn’t get mk1 right at launch because I felt it would end up with same fate. Got it during season 4 and I found the game enjoyable and most importantly visually pleasing to keep coming back for more. The Kameo could have used its own mode. Gears could have been like Soul Caliber per body part. But, Mk1 is fun to play and pleasing to watch. The gameplay is clean and learning it is not like pulling hairs out in street fighter. I have enjoyed mk1 and would support NRS for all their hard work.

I'm sure that even if the next game is like MKX, there will still be a LOT of people complaining...for multiple reasons I could go in detail... The biggest problem with MK1 was its terrible launch and the slow reflexes shown by NRS in finishing the game while fixing new bugs/issues that were brought up on the surface. Now, MKX isn't the ideal model, but its pace is almost perfect. Have it a bit toned down (not as slow as MK1's and MK11's normally is) and make certain adjustments so that the game is not just a remake of MKX with non stop 50 50s and endless pressure and the majority of the fanbase will be satisfied IF the game feels finished like up until MKX. PS : MK1, Imo, as of right now, is overhated. Let's be honest, a lot of hate that it gets comes from anything that feels like MK11 and is carried in MK1 by players that hated it. Another big one is from players who don't like assist games and another one is by players who consider MK11 the best MK to date and don't like anything that doesn't feel like MK11.
