My old pinned comment disappeared for some reason so here's a new one FAQ: 1: These are my own characters. No they are not from homestuck, deltarune, eddsworld, etc. 2: You can read the comic for this animation here! www.respawnstory.com/ 3: TWs for the comic can be found here if needed: www.tumblr.com/respawnquestions/716420139532402688/what-are-the-tws-for-this-comic-it-seems-fun-from 4: I do not own the song. The song is "The Moss" by Cosmo Sheldrake 5: Please do not reupload! If you make an edit that is fine but please do not claim that the original is yours. Link this video in the description! (also, feel free to tag me I love seeing edits!) 6: Yes I know I misspelled it. It's been 4 years since I uploaded this. 7: This was made on flipnote 3d for the 3ds! Thats why its called a flipnote 3d animation. 7a: Unfortunately, I didn't make the video with the 3ds's 3d function in mind, so it doesnt give the 3d effect (I used the multiple layers for coloring and sketches. So if you turned 3d on youd be able to see hints of the sketches)

gotta be honest, i wasnt prepared to hear such a masterpiece of a song, and to read such a masterpiece of a comic, although it takes a bit to get into it, it is well worth it. every death makes the reader feel like a part of them has shattered(even if it was on for less then 10 frames) and it always keeps its stakes high, its the best webcomic ive read in really quite a while and the song was the break ive been unknowingly waiting for for a while.

Copy and pasted from tumblr “I can explain the backstory of the world and put the events from the video here in the correct order. The story’s name is “Respawn” Far into the future, the Earth is on its last leg, barely any resources, the ozone layer so messed up that people can only live in designated areas, and people are running out of food. All the while, there have been reports of a rogue planet coming towards the Earth. Thankfully, the planet, Namulia, does not collide, but instead begins to orbit the Earth. When some inhabitants come down it is revealed that they are the reincarnation of humans through “Respawning”. They retain no memory of their human life on their first respawn, but can respawn just one more time (retaining any injuries they had before) and get their human memories. However, whatever they die of each time they respawn they become immune to.”

talking into the void cuz i really wanna talk about this this animation inspired me so so much in early middle school. i was really afraid of the future, not sure what my life would become. i wasn’t sure who i would be, what i was put here to do. and lmao covid made that soso much worse then i found this animation. i then realized what i wanted to do. i wanted to tell stories. be they real or fiction, i wanted to create my own small worlds, ones so minuscule yet expansive. it’s been five years since then, and now i’m a sophomore in high school. so much has changed, so much has occurred. and even now my dreams of creating something predominate in my mind. it sounds corny but in a way this animation let me realize who i wanted to be. thank you, from the bottom of my heart

I love how abstract this is. I can tell there's a story, but I can't quite figure out WHAT it is, because it's not simply handed to viewers within the video. There's just the right balance that you can tell something is happening, but aren't certain what it is. I absolutely LOVE that. The color choice is also really well done. The colors are all really bold and at the same time, they are used in such a way that they complement each other rather than being too sharp of a contrast and hurting viewers' eyes. The entire video is just really good. I love it so much. Extremely well done job! Sincerely, C

The complete lack of outline colors really adds to this! Without outlines, the colors and shapes have an easy time blending into each other, and when switching from scene to scene its easy to tell what we are looking at. There is also something to be said in how despite the song having nothing to do with the animation, the feeling that you get from both is similar, this sort of feeling of being on another world where the rules are all completely different.

The first thing I thought once the chorus hit was that this is the perfect song to explain the importance of stories. And of Bards who tell those stories. The common trope is they're bed hoppers who sing and mess around- but really there's so much power in a story and people overlook that.

The flow and visuals are so eye catching and smooth, I don’t fully understand the story, but the short and precise sequences makes me feel like it’s an old memory. I know this is one more comment like many, many others, but 1) This is amazing animation, especially on flipnote. 2) That story, as much as we can see of it, it crazy, cool, and very interesting. 3) Can't wait to see the entire story. 4) Yes, Homestuck was brought to mind, but only concepts of it. The chaotic story that brings fan to question everything, the many perspectives, crazy out of the world things, a mix of old and new technology, lots of death, etc. but it was a good reminder. Thanks for making this video.

This is AMAZING and nobody can tell me otherwise. You have this great style mixed with the smooth animation (which, by the way, is scarily good for flipnote) and the colors are bright but don’t clash, you can tell there’s a story but you have to think about it, instead of having it given to you, and the song choice is great. Overall I just love this animation. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
