You missed the introduction part where they tell that the ape is 59 years old. Chimps may reach an average of 38.7 years while in captivaty. So, reaching 59 years means that she was well treated and her environment wasn't that soulless at all ... More likely that this chimpanzee was or already in her last days and they have isaolated her from the group.

Look at the 59 years old ape at about 1:05 minutes in. It's just a few seconds but it's so beautiful, and unassailably demonstrates the depth of feeling in creatures we used to call "dumb animals" because we were a bunch of"dumb asses." Yes, dogs do have more expression and vocalization when around us! My Husky has learned quite a few ways to tell me what he wants and also understands far too much.. I've often winked at him to say hello when he looks at me, he'll always do it back and sometimes, does it first! If he does it and then i do it back, i get a tail wag! lol

Just in case you didn't know, dog "puzzles" are toys that you put food inside, and then the dog tries and figures out how to get to the food or get the food out. (I dunno if Russell was just pretending to not know for the sake of the joke, but afaik he's always had multiple dogs together, not a single dog that could get bored on its own, so maybe he actually didn't know.)

1..I am sure that the rescue of fish and dolphins during flooding is of those displaced over what will be dry land once water recedes. 2.
