I have been watching your videos for several years. You guys are skilled, experienced and demonstrate incredible attention to detail to detail. I’m 83 years old and have been building river tables on a much smaller scale for a while. My goal is to build a “masterpiece” table. I’ve learned so much from you’all. Don’t have the high end machines in your shop, so will have to do the best I can. Thanks for all the inspiration.

I'm a fan of the black base as it tends to disappear and allows the table top to be the star. I also appreciate you mentioning how much time it took from start to finish. Your compressing over 100 hours of work into this 20min video shows a skill in editing and story-telling that is as remarkable as your woodworking skills.

Great video!!!! Glad to see the dedication to providing the best product possible for the client. The black finish on the X-base is outstanding. Like Dylan says, the base needs to fade into the background. Thanks for showing the build process from start to finish. Especially enjoyed the discussion of how to pour two colors and not have one color dominate the other. Keep up the good work!!!!

Great result, this piece of timber looks so much better than the original. Very interesting mix of resin but the end result was beautiful. I really like the X base and black is always a good option. However I still prefer the stain to the a little less dense to allow the natural grain to show up better. The aluminium support is good and stained to match makes it a little less obvious. Have you guys ever considered using solid clear acrylic rod instead. I have used it in the past and I find that it is virtually lost to sight. Just a thought. Again a great table and thank you for sharing. Cheers Michael.

@paulfowler3416

Beautiful piece. The discussion of how to handle different colours was interesting - we have done quite a few small testers trying to see what works. For one lamp where a mould encloses a bottle with the bottom cut off to allow a bulb to be inserted later, we put in a very dark first pour that filled about 15% of the mould and the next morning poured in a very translucent colour while the first pour was still a little bit liquid and this made a nice smoky effect. Vs staining wood, people need to just chill and accept the matter of taste. I think both your stained and unstained baes are gorgeous. Which to choose is partly also around the wood and resin of the table and other things in the room….just chill, calm down is what we would say to those with very strong views either way.

Another great build. I really like the colors that were picked and used on this table. The only thing I didn't ike is the blue square at the end of the table. It looks out of place. The other blue areas have soft round circular patterns. For instants the one area towards the middle of the table looks like an eye. Have you ever put a different color or stain on the legs? I think a deep red mahogany would look awesome especially if the table itself were more of a mahogany color. Those deep red tones hide until the right light is on them. It would be nice if you could do a biography on the staff so we all can get a chance to get to know them.

I'm in favor of the black stained base. Much harder to see blemishes or stains on it. There can certainly be cases where a white, natural base could be the preferable choice (ie. if the table-top is bright as well) but a bright base under a dark table-top like all the walnut tops would not look good and harmonious.

the black stain you applied, it's not my thing but it still looks good. I have a question about the base too. It looks like the grain might still be noticeable to the touch? Is this so? If so, what level did you sand too? I assume the more sanding/higher level you go to, it would flatten everything out so you would not be able to feel the grain? Or am I wrong? Great video, keep it up

I believe one reason why these giant tables are so expensive is because you have to cover the cost of redoing the whole thing and still making a profit when the first one warps or bubbles through. But if you do have to replace it just put it back in storage and let it continue to dry out
@BlackForestWoodCo
@BlackForestWoodCo 4 ай бұрын
Absolutely not. We have been building these tables for years now, if we hadn't figured out how to build a table without it warping or bubbling by this point we would have quit making them long ago. Also kind of an insulting comment to insinuate we would scam our customers out of money.
