It's so nice to see the people of Siolim celebrating Sao Joao, every year with so much fanfare, keeping this age old Goan festival alive. However, it would be better if all announcements and interviews are conducted in Konkani and not in English.

It is a tradition to wear the headdress (known as kopel in Konkani), during the celebration of Sao Joao. The festival is incomplete without the Kopel. This tradition is carried out all over Goa.
