Yes but it’s a little harder. If you’re new you should try endeavouros which based on arch
@Cavi5874 ай бұрын
Yeah. Endeavour is basically arch with an installer and pre-configured desktops that you can choose from. If you're doing something custom it won't matter much.
@Haydenh12715 күн бұрын
Don't use arch installer, you can use the install guide, you'll learn more about your system and how it operates that way. Installers and prepackaged os like endeavor or Manjaro, Garuda, etc are great, but the knowledge you get from building it yourself will help you more in the long run. (Imo)

@maxhudotdev2 ай бұрын
I think Endeavour is pretty good, it's like arch installer, and it's better than manjaro. I switched to normal arch because it's more minimal since it doesn't have any of the pre-installed endeavour programs. Using Endeavour is a good introduction to arch since it prevents you from dealing with the kind of tricky stuff of arch initially like the installation process, configuring sudo, getting dual booting to work, getting sound to work, setting up xorg/wayland, wifi etc... Overall, I prefer arch but Endeavour is a good start if you want to use arch without spending a bunch time setting it up

Eh, it's nice but I've seen better. I've seen desktops that shift terminal colour schemes based on the wallpaper that was chosen--all done on the fly.

you mean pywal ?

Yeah, Pywal.

I don’t use pywal because I don’t like when all the colors on my terminal look the same

Windows would use like 20gb so this is definitely better

@@maxhudotdev Windows 20gb? Impossible. I use debian by the way on my x220 and to have 7 GB full I need to have at least 80 tabs of Brave browser open plus other applications like vlc.

A dock, Rainmeter and wallpaper engine look and perform better than this, while using less system resources in many cases. And that's on Windows.
@maxhudotdev4 ай бұрын
I used to use to rainmeter and wallpaper engine for a few years but I switched because you can’t choose the window manager and taskbar

It's all cool until you start using your system for months and realize there's multiple issues and switching back to Windows is easier and better for your workflow. I can't even count how many days I wasted configuring my Linux system to be perfect, just to have random bugs pop off.
@maxhudotdev4 ай бұрын
yea. so far this setup has worked decently but i still keep windows around for gaming
