The most beautiful hike you didn't know existed [Dolomites]

Father-in-law turning 60? Take him for a sketchy hike!
That was the idea Viv and I got when thinking of a birthday present.
The best place we came up with was the Lake Sorapis (Lago di Sorapis) hike in the Cortina d'Ampezzo region of the Dolomites in Italy.
There are many hiking routes that lead to Lake Sorapis, but the one we choose was not an easy trek. It involved us scrambling up a mountain filled with loose rock (bloody scree) and steep drops.
The views and panorama of the Dolomites, Lago Di Sorapis, and mountain landscape make the arduous journey worth it.
And as a reward, you can stop at the refuge (Rifugio Vandelli) close to Lake Sorapis for a well-earned beer!
One of the best hikes in Italy? Might well be.

I hadn't done my research properly and did this clockwise back in late September - still doable, but there's a pretty miserable steep climb from the lake towards that scree section, and then the scree section itself was a right pain going down - I fell twice even when being super super careful😂
