Hey your video brought back so many great memories of 🇳🇮 Nicaragua. I've spent about 6 months there cumulatively over the last few years, mostly in Granada. Some things for you do/see there and in the area: 1. There is a little corner bar by the end of the market street, upstairs. Beer is a buck and you can sit on the balcony and look out over the street. 2. Take a boat tour of las islitas. See monkey Island and have a drink on the one that has a bar and watch the sunset. 3. Take a bus to Masaya and go to the artisans Market. We took the bus to Managua and taxi from there. 4. Best steak in town is at El Zaguan 5. Take a taxi with a buddy to Chico Tripa #1 (not by the lake) to eat and do karaoke with the locals. If you speak Spanish you'll be great and love it. Make sure to get the cebollas picantes on the side. 6. Go to Mombacho cigars to roll your own stick 7. Go to the top of Mombacho volcano to the coffee plantation and do a hike. You can possibly see a sloth up there. You can also get a lodge and stay overnight and see if you can hear or see the howler monkeys. As for beach, skip SJDS (san juan del sur) and go to either Jiquillo or Las Peñitas. If going to either stop in Leon and see a few things there including the rum factory. BEST rum ever!!! Other places I've been to in Nicaragua include Matagalpa (way less touristy) cooler and in the hills, coffee bean growing area, Esteli for tobacco and cigars and nature reserves. Oh if you wanna see baby sea turtles go to Jiquilillo. Stay at Brisas del Mar, my friend owns it. He's Canadian like me.

Hey Darlene! Thanks for watching the video and leaving such amazing tips here. Hopefully they will aid other people in getting the best out of Granada! Unfortunately since I work while traveling, my time is very limited in each city and I didn't get to do most of the things you mentioned but thank you for leaving them here for others! I'm on my way to Leon today (my last town in Nicaragua) Chicken bus here I come! haha

Loved seeing Granada again. I was there 10 years ago, so I barely remember it! But damn, that drink looked good. I don't even think it looks so bad. I would take it. Great vlog, Gringster!

Also HAHAHHAHA on the Pura Vida tank top. It is absolutely time for a Flor de Caña top I do believe!

Hey, watched a few of your Nica videos. Like most here. Brought back a lot of memories. I’m wondering how many travellers you ran into. I haven’t been back since pre 2018 and wondering if the tourism has recovered any.
@GringoNation2 жыл бұрын
Hey Bradley! Thanks so much for checking them out. I'm glad they triggered some good memories! The tourism is definitely coming back. There were lots of tourists in all the towns I filmed in. The flights are starting to come back too. Did you live there?
@bradleylacey8362 жыл бұрын
I spent 2 months down there looking at property. Stayed in Leon and looked at the northern beaches. Also got up into the mountains in the north. If you are up near Esteli check out Somoto Canyon. Pretty cool spot.

I went to the cheapest hostel in tulum that fed me more drinks than I paid for my bed. I can’t remember what they called it, but I remember how to get there. I probably drink a pint a day from them

Not too shabby, Rodney! I haven't been to Tulum but I'm sure that's definitely the party spirit I imagine from there. Thanks for watching!

You got a lot of mileage out of that costa rica tank top. Bate bate chocolate! You're brave to be up in the bell tower. Jessica had all the desserts. Hostel with free drinks? Sign us up!
@GringoNation2 жыл бұрын
SO. MUCH. MILEAGE. More than I talked about. haha. The chocolate at the museum was amazing and the bell tower wasn't scary at all. Very peaceful and beautiful! Jessica was an insistent one... hahaha... And sure, the free drinks are weak but it's certainly better than nothing. Thanks for watching, guys. How long will you be in Guatemala? I should be arriving in October!

Hey Rob here again. I lived in Grenada for 2 months, in 2 different years. Lived directly next door to Kathy's Waffle House. It was great to see the place again. How long are you there for? Or have you moved on already?

You've got to go to Hotel Con Corazon and see what they're doing for the locals there. All proceeds feom hotel stays in the area. They could use more exposure, but go find out about their mission and they're history

Hey Rob! Thanks for coming to check out the video and I'm glad it helped you remember your time there! I wish I could've gone to Kathy's. Heard great things about it. I was only in Granada for a few days, unfortunately. Gotta keep the train moving! I'm headed to Leon today. From there I will head to El Salvador, so lots more coming! :-)

@@GringoNation I’m a gringo married to a Nica. We are 3 months from retiring and trying to decide between Matagalpa/Jinotega, or San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico. We love cool weather and just not sure there is any place in Nicaragua quite cool enough. Big decision…. Love your videos !
@GringoNation2 жыл бұрын
@@bananapatch9118 Thanks so much for saying that! Comments like yours always motivate me to move forward. I haven't been to SC de las Casas but I've heard good things. Have you considered Cuenca in Ecuador? It's nice cool weather year round, great infrastructure and cheap too. I'm going back there next year for a few months.
@bananapatch91182 жыл бұрын
@@GringoNation Absolutely ! We have a list- Cuenca, Manizales Colombia, Arequipa Peru, Buenas Aires, a handful of places in Mexico. But, we have 3 senior dogs so trying to find a good spot to live until they pass away, then we hope to travel and check out a lot of places. Cuenca is high on the list.
