he for sure already has just the cleanest garage despite working so much in it (well, it at least used to be in his actual garage.) however, cleaning something that gets dirty right away again isn't exactly something new to Mitch, I'm guessing, since he often details either farm trucks or in the middle of the winter with roads in really bad condition. or occasionally, you can rather safely assume that his clients just won't keep their vehicles clean for very long (effectively ensuring, that we never run out of content 😅)

As someone who sells used earth moving equipment this is incredibly satisfying to watch. I see so many machines that are not washed and maintained like you did with this. Also you can unbolt the cab and lift it so you can power wash the foot pedal controls and wash all the dirt out of the pumps.

I agree with Peter. I think the commentary adds to the video. Maybe put it in your arsenal of editing ideas. Sometimes have it, sometimes don't. Keep the audience guessing! This video broke out of the mold and I liked it. You could also do one entitled, "Rookie Does $500 Detail" or "I trained a rookie how to detail."

Keeping your heavy equipment clean will greatly help the machine last much longer. It’s healthy machine maintenance. And if you have to have it repaired by a mechanic. They will be very appreciative of your efforts to maintain its cleanliness, that goes for if you work on it yourself as well. Short tip. These machines gather a lot of dirt and dust under the cab in the “belly” of the machine. Most of the time these skidsteers you can raise the cab by removing a couple bolts and lifting it like a car hood. Remove your belly pan and wash out the bottom. It will keep down on hydraulic hoses and electrical harnesses rubbing on the piled up dirt! Great work!

I had to watch this video, I work for a fire department on Long Island, New York. I’m in charge of all the maintenance of the 4 fire house that are in our district as well as detailing all of our equipment including our Bobcat which has many uses for us. You’re absolutely correct about the difficulties in detailing something like that. I was looked at kinda strange when I was applying the tire shine to the tires as well but hey, it’s like putting on a nice suit with dirty shoes, it’s just not right!!! Thank you so much for doing this, my dad used to make bobcats when i was a kid and im now in my early 30s, i had never seen anything like this before as to how to do it, but i have recently completed training to use a forklift here in Australia and im excited to ask my dad more questions about his work before i see him in real life next as he lives like 6 hours drive away and show him this video when he comes to visit in a few months time, i am not sure if he made regular bobcats or skid steers as well, but this is so cool to me, i now live in tbe farming town in a country area where he and my uncle grew up and i live with ny uncle, dads brother, though they loved their childhood here, my dad now lives near a capital coty but i think even my uncle will find this a cool video too...

Cleanest bobcat Ive seen! Work at a Bobcat dealer for over 10 years. Little piece of advice. The entire cab can get wet, pressure wash the footwells on low pressure…removable covers by the pedals to help water drain out belly pan. 10mm bolts on the side windows pop the entire window assemblies out for easy cleaning! Enjoy watching your vids all the time.

Huge tip for cleaning inside, life the cab! Gets you to a lot of crevices that are no longer crevices. Most skid steers I’ve ever worked on the cab is meant to be lifted by one person if the cab shocks aren’t blown out. I’ve never worked on a bobcat but I’ve done case, new Holland, Takeuchi although the Taks were the hardest to lift had to use another machine just too heavy cause the shocks were completely blown and owner didn’t want to replace so we went with it. Hope this helps!

I really enjoyed this video. Taking care of equipment really does extend its useful life. The talking through this was great. I'd love to see your other machinery cleaned also. I notice a little "huffing and puffing" during this clean - cars are one thing, but this took both a lot of work and a lot of care in a new way. The cramped space inside and all the moving parts on the outside are much different than the usual car, and very interesting. Be sure to include some snow clearing in one of your future videos!

I have a lot of respect for anyone who buys a Bobcat to use for himself. Nice to see they still make machines with the foot pedal controls. I remove any attachments before pressure cleaning my Bobcats and never bothered to clean a bucket because it's just rusted out anyway. In fact every machine I have owned was rusted and beat up before I got it. You have to take it apart to do a good cleanout and paint job on a decades old rust bucket like I end up with.

As a former CAT mechanic focusing mostly on skid steers, let me tell you some things. First off you are an outlier, 99 times out of 100 I would receive a machine that was absolutely beyond filthy, I’m talking about hardened mud taking up the entire space inside of the tracks travel area (roller frames), it took hours to clean the unit not to mention the dirt everywhere else. Seeing an owner care this much about their piece of machinery truly brings me a smile, I personally think that grip tape for entering the cab is going to be in mint condition for the entire life of that unit with your care level. And you taking the time to clean underneath the foot controls is a sight for sore eyes because I have had “low power” or “unit works too slow” complaints from the rare CAT units that had foot controls due to the fact that there is a hardened layer of mud restricting the travel capacity of the foot controls, or in layman’s terms it was dirty as hell and became a problem! Now here’s a pro tip or two, a lot of dirt, dust, and mud collects underneath the cabs of these units, on the bottom of the machine is a plate(s) known as the belly pan(s), there may be several, start by removing all of those if there are multiple, from there since you have a Bobcat you’ll be looking on the inside for this next thing, go to the front pillars of your cab towards the lower frame of the machine, there are two 19mm nuts holding the cab down (it is possible they are underneath your front air ducts), take those out and lift your cab until it is fully upright and on the safety lock. This should be fairly easy since your machine is new enough the gas struts still work at lifting up that cab with you. From there you should be able to wash out all of that dirt, you will thank yourself later due to the fact that when high pressure and flow goes through those hydrostatic hoses it can cause them to vibrate and chafe with one another or on the layers of dirt in that area. It’s simply another opportunity to catch potential hydraulic leaks before they happen because when they do, they get incredibly messy, like 16 gallons of spilled oil messy! When you are down there look for hoses rubbing together, if you see metal wire on any of the hoses just go ahead and replace them, they will inevitably rupture. Also, take the time to spray water through your radiator, clay dust loves to settle in between the cooling fins of the radiator and if left unattended can lead to cooling issues with the engine (over a long period of time), you can use high pressure water since these radiators are built rather heavy duty just spray carefully from around a minimum of 12” or 30 cm away from the fins, you’ll be amazed how much dirt hides there 👌🏻. Other than that keeping your engine bay clean like you are already doing, allows the water drain holes in your engine bay the opportunity to drain out water like they are supposed to and prevent rust and thick mud build up, it also makes for easier to clean oil changes! Thank you for showing this, mechanics like myself usually see the typical “it’s the boss man’s machine so it’s the boss man’s problem” mentality and we always have to pay for it, your local Bobcat dealer will love you forever!

Just a quick tip. That non-skid sticker just inside the door will wear out quickly. Just take that thing off and spray some truck bedliner on that area. It will make that spot slip resistant. Ask me how I know. 🤣

Alemite makes fantastic grease guns and their couplings seem to leak less. If you really want to get fancy I've been told you should get the locking grease couplings that work kind of like air chucks. Looks good and reminds me of power washing heavy equipment in my dad's shop as a kid! Thanks for all the work you put in this year!

It’s fairly easy to tip up the cab on that machine. Two large fasteners accessible from inside the cab. Remove these and the cab will lift up giving you access to the engine and hydro pump. This makes life so much easier. Hope this helps

I recommend using degreaser on all the grease points and also those orange plates under the arm u can unscrew the knob and you’ll be able to remove that so when u have the machine in the air u can put it under the arms so the machines arm don’t collapse on you. It’s called a lift support brace!!

as someone who has personally detailed lots of different machines i can tell you that brings around a few issues the main one being grease if you're regularly washing heavy equipment you're gonna have to have a hot water pressure washer as grease do not come off without lots of effort with cold water (like washing dishes with cold water) along with that a lot of equipment can be often overwhelmingly disgusting i have spent a week on a large machine. not saying don't do it just a fair warning of what it brings.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I’ve driven few bobcats and never ever have I been in one that has been detail previously. They’re usually caked in dirt, their windows are super dirty, floorboard is super dirty and yours turned out really nice after the detail.

You're glad you got the wheeled version. As a former operator/tester for Caterpillar, I can tell you that anything with tracks will be a black hole for dirt. I have spent an entire hour on just the tracks, and still have stuff coming out. Bulldozers are the worst though.

27:56 holy hell the ease at which the bucket attaches is awesome. I wish the crappy forklift at my shop worked like this for the boom attachment we use for lifting huge rolls of carpet & vinyl.

I thought this video was great. My Dad was a grounds supervisor at a large retirement community each winter he would have his crew do a deep detail on all their equipment. Not only did everything look good but it kept the gear running better for longer. Keep up the good work.

I operated that exact skid steer! Foot pedals and all!! I miss that ol’ girl as I had quit that job. Nobody could operate her proficiently. Instead they would be rough with her and not blow out the engine compartment or grease her. I, on the other hand, would clean and grease her. I NEEEEEVER had any complaints. Everything I asked of her, she did without any hesitation and ask what else do you want me to do. This video brought a little smile in reminding me of my ol’ girl. 😏 If you have a grapple bucket attachment, don’t hit the vertical thumb lever on the right control lever. The grapple will automatically open up. Hitting the switch again will allow you to open & close it at will.
