I always felt like i must have accidently universe hopped into one where no one played flatout 2, because despite it being the best racing game ever made, nobody ever talks about it. Very good video. I hope more people try it out. The first time your car ever flies through the air at 100 miles an hour, does 6 backflips and then slams into the ground in first place, thats when youll truly understand how beautiful this game is.

I think it's because its spotlight got eaten by Burnout, and the tragic event that was Flatout 3, kinda clouded its name in people's memories. Honestly, I have a real hard time picking between Flatout 2 and Burnout 3.

The amount of times music synced up with car crashes in my playthroughs of original Flatout 2 was absolutely terrific, the soundtrack was just built for that. Like, when I first played it back in 2010’s and got to the racetrack map, I jumped the ramp the wrong way and my Lentus (I don’t remember the class or a car I was in, but something close to that) started doing the fastest cartwheeling I had ever seen, meanwhile Man or Animal’s first chorus got to an end and Audioslave started screaming “out of control!!!” while drums were rolling as if the car was just doing that - man, this is when I realised that I love this game and I needed to ask my parents for more Hot Wheels to beat into each other. That and Dirt 2 is pretty much why I started loving racing games as a whole and still replaying them on some special occasions to this day, and I’m so happy that you covered it in your style (adore the 3D animated Road King segments and all the bits, comparing the sense of speed to the Yellowline from “Redline” was so good). Apologies for longwinded comment, this is my first time commenting on anything and English is my second language. Thought it was too good of a memory to pass up. Love all of your works and branching out to video game things is really informative and uniquely done, wish you all the best in your future stuff! Also, same devs made Wreckfest, and I can’t even begin to describe on how great that game is, everybody check it out if you haven’t.
@Corax3 күн бұрын
Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! Flatout really can facilitate those special moments, it's not the only game that can do that by all means but nothing just hits that specific combination! Nothing wrong with your English as far as I can tell! Cheers!

Just woke up and I appreciate your response! Honestly the closest I got to scratching that itch in different games was Yakuza franchise, specifically their spinoffs Judgment and Lost Judgment with unintentionally timing punches, kicks, bicycles and heat actions to all kinds genres of tracks (including orchestra from what I can remember) being the constant thing happening to me. I might as well upload one of the clips on to my channel for anybody to see for themselves. Again, thank you for making this video, take your time proper for the next ones!

ooh, wondef what you think of race driver: grid
@dadofdud75103 күн бұрын
@possibly_ben Would love to play it, I only listened to the soundtrack which is from what I’ve heard and seen actually dynamically changes depending on your position in the race or if it’s the last lap or not, kinda like Payday, but non-linearly. Planning to get it on PS3 and maybe even play it on the emulator with Xtra mod which adds a bunch of cut content and supposedly adds an option to remove Mexico filter.

Loved this game since I was a lil' fetus, and will continue to love it even after I'm dead n' buried. A headcanon I've always had regarding the og game is that the special cars you unlock after completing the classes with all gold trophies are actually the player's actual, canon cars. Only to fit better on the idea of the player being it's own character in that world, and respectively, the 8th member. (They did uh... change that in ultimate carnage, but we don't talk about that.)

You know, you are the last person I expected to do this format of video and absolutely kill it, the script is hilarious. I would unironically pay for this if I wasn't already barely scraping rent lol. Seriously though, the way you wrote this within the first 60 seconds has me realizing why video essay-ish things like these are so mundane and unexciting, it's because they all write the script the exact same way. It's almost cookie cutter. The only ones in recent memory to break this is Angry Video Game Nerd and, apparently, YOU. It's a joy to see this and the video itself is a joy to watch. Please keep making videos.
