You touch on some of the reasons why I, when I know there will be an interval between checking my gear and entering the water, do the following... I check everything then turn my valve off and purge until my SPG reads a value I can remember. For me this is usually 150 bar. If somebody touches it, I forget to do something, basically almost any scenario... when I return to my kit and I check SPG I can tell if someone else touched it, or if I completed my check... I have come back to find it changed, this is the point where I start from the beginning!

Good luck tomorrow I'm assuming your referring to your open water dives. I've been diving for 35 years now I've never been injured while diving, and I do alot of decompression diving. My advise to new divers gas always been this, never underestimate Murphy's law, we are in a sport that can easily kill you (don't over think this) it's just that were entering an environment that humans are not ment to be in (we don't have gills). So have fun with it, even 35 years later I get a kick out of this sport

Stay safe, keep safe. And always remember the 5 laws of diving: -Never hold your breathe. -Don't dive too deep. -Don't stay too long. -Don't go up too fast. -Plan your dive, and dive your plan. Have fun & good luck!

Yup👍, my first cert dive last week, definitely caught myself of some dangerous mistake, I opened the valve and closed it before the dive, good thing I double BWARF it , second my Dive Scubapro knife attached to the BCD came off during the dive, but recovered it. 2nd and last cert dive this coming weekend, can’t wait

The biggest mistake is spending time watching more clips about diving than actually spending time in the water ;-)

No. 3 just happened to me last weekend on a dive trip to Malapascua. Day before the dive left my bp with the dive operator for next day's very early dive to Monal shoal. It was taped with the request for 4 kls of lead weight. Next day while donning my wetsuit, a dm approaches me asking how much lead I needed and thinking they must have missed the taped request told him what i needed. You can just imagine my discomfort when I plunged in surprised that I needed a bit more air than usual to stay neutral. 😁 After the dive I checked my trim pockets and I was lugging 8 kls. Lessons learned...always verify everything.

Boys ! I got 79 dives in since my certification in August of 2020 today’s my 80th! Okay so recommendations for my 100th dive do I go naked during the day!?,or do I go for a night dive 😅it’s fresh water I don’t have to worry about anything stinging me 😅😂and it’s southern Arizona so 110 Fahrenheit surface temps and 75-80 degree water what should I do on the. Dive should I record it 😂😂😂also mark did you do your 100th dive nude? I hear it’s a right of passage 😅#askmark

I'm alaways absolutely astonished by the number of divers who don't realise that the little "safety strap" on their bcd that goes round the neck of the tank is also there to enable the bcd to be asily hung on the tank whilst you phaff with the main cylinder bands! Watching other divers try to adjust, tighten and secure their cylinder to their bcd whilst they attempt to hold it all in place can be hilarious, especially if you are on a small rocking boat at the time.....

Buy lots of expensive gear and have lots of certifications, but make rookie mistakes. Like, not doing tank bands tight enough. Get tangled in smb line and failure to deploy... twice Lost a fin. Get lost from group because too busy with camera.
