Hi, jagermeister the Kerrigan 1-trick here. Please use active language when shot calling. While during HL games, asking "can we boss?" is a good initiator to valuable discussion, it wastes time. If you know the right play, say "We're taking boss." I also find shot calls get less muddled or ignored if you are succinct, very clear (up your volume), and say the call thrice. "Back out, Back out, Back out!" "Boss, boss, boss!" "I'm on Chromie, Chromie, Chromie!" "Bunker for damage, Bunker for Damage, Bunker for Damage!"

Lol this reminds me of when I called boss after a late game TF on Alterac Pass where we killed two after defending a push. Only one came so we abandoned bottom boss, then I checked top boss by myself (as Whitemane) and enemy Varian was soloing it and it was half HP, and that's when finally team came saved me, killed varian, stole boss and easily got next obj for gg. The point being I have to literally imperil myself in order for team to actually have 'incentive' to followup.

@jagermeisterhots
@jagermeisterhots 6 жыл бұрын
That only appears in replay. It is up to you to press tab to check enemy talents. Use the load screen to your advantage. Ask yourself which heroes on the enemy team have situational talents, and also take this time to guess which teams have the best power spikes to evaluate your win condition. If the enemy has conditional situational talents (Mosh vs Stage Dive for example), press tab and check them at that talent tier.

Hey I never though the bystander effect could be applied to my games. Thanks ^^ Just on a side note about the murder story : it's a myth. In truth, people called 911, but less than could have been expected and police didn't make it in time.

Is there some sort of method of elimination for what to do though? I often find myself just wandering around unable to make any calls just kinda doing things for the hell of it. Like, the enemy team isn't visible so I guess I'll bugger off by myself and do a camp somewhere, meanwhile my team gets jumped and mauled because they engaged. Should I just always follow the team, no questions asked and not split off unless farming to 10? I find that most of the calls I make often end up doing nothing at best and hurting us at worst.
@ryanb9344
@ryanb9344 6 жыл бұрын
The only asset you have in the game is gaining experience for your team, so do things that'll maximize gaining experience for your team, generally right before an objective spawns you want to grab a camp so that it can possibly gain more experience for you/force your enemy to respond to it. Also if a group of you are in say top lane and you see a group of your enemies in bottom lane, it's more efficient, in terms of gaining experience to just push the lane you're in (top) rather than rotating down to bottom lane where the enemy is. It's typically more beneficial to be the aggressor (and have them react to your team's play) and take their wall or even fort down than to be the defender and going bottom lane. I just tell my team to push and will ping their wall or fort and to ignore them bottom lane and see how the enemy team reacts. You'll end up in the lead in terms of experience (levels/talent tiers) if the enemy comes back to defend top lane and you all were able to back in time safely without getting picked off.

Soo this only works in premade 5 man TL right? Because in EU people rarely voice talk with randoms and HL in plat/diamond is completly silent, as I rarely seen anyone shotcall or talk and voice chat is pretty much not a part of the game. And in unranked you get flamed or reported for telling someone what to do xD.

Great video NotParadox. I think you do a great job at locating a problem in heroes and logically think through it. Like in this video you noticed a problem with people not taking responsibility for shot calling. You made a theory that it was because of a phenomenon known as “the bystander effect”. You provide evidence to back your claim, the Cassia and Raynor situation. Then draw it to a real-life comparison, the New York stabbing. You then take it one step further and try offering a solution. This case you say is to give specific direction to people. You then backup your solution by showing a potential resolution to the Cassia/Raynor case. Then offer another real-life comparison, this one to CPR training. I just wanted to say, I respect your process. That you are doing a good service to people who are struggling in these areas, and I know that thanks to you I’m getting better at the game. Thanks for the hard work and dedication.

Mindfield has some great examples too about the bystander effect. Often indeed as other comments say when you tell someone something needs to happen even if in a friendly manner they simply start to trashtalk you, but at the same time often games that would otherwise be lost terribly can be brought back from certain death by a good team leader that fills the gap of ignorance. And agreed to the way NotParadox brings zones of common error. Since I've seen some issues I recognize in myself but couldn't pinpoint why I couldn't climb up the ladder I've been recently implementing even just 1 subject, and instantly while I was stuck in low ranks started climbing and seeing personal rank adjustment go up every game. This whole channel is pure gold

We had this conversation eons ago on Sky Temple! You played Jaina and you pointed out after the game that you called for somebody to cover your lane while you did Siege Giants and nobody came. And that's when I suggested next time you ask a specific person :-) These days, if I hear a non-specific request, I will volunteer and that's when I inevitably hear, "No, you're the healer. Stick with the group. I'll go". SUCCESS!

Yes I agree, but some people just don’t care and even tell you I’m not a specialist... or they tell you why not you? Even if you’re playing Deckard or whitemane. And now that you’ve talked about these issues, I found the pin system kind of weak, I’ve always found that a « wait » or « meeting point here » were missing. Some icons are bad too, the flag for retreat is so wrong and not on common imagination. The flag was chosen for the white flag used in old combat / wars, but Russian players often use it or interpret it as a retreat here as a meeting point... In the beta they were different arrows which wasn’t that good neither but the retreat one was perfectly chosen. In my opinion they should add more pins and icons. For example when you pin to pick a camp it’s just a dot with a hero sentence...ok good but what if players are playing without sound cause they’re listening to something else (music, news a video on the background?) it needs a visual icon. It needs a visual icon too because sometimes you listen to the call for a camp and you can’t tell which one was pointed cause you were busy or not paying attention to the minimap.

Funny, our group does not have this problem. When one of us call "we need this camp" , we're waiting for confirmation "ok I'm on it". If nobody says anything, then it's not confirmed and we check our priorities again and find a solution. That solution can definitly be "we can't do it now" or "lemme finish this". But yeah what's important is : when we ask, we also ask for confirmation. If any of us says "I'll do" and become unable to, he also calls it.

I'd love more videos like this, like common shot calling mistakes/rotations in situations or late game, etc especially because i'm the shot caller for my TL team! That “the bystander effect” recalls a vary particular instance where I made a vague call in our late game, saying valla or thrall clear catas, the other come help push the lane/keep, so both of them go and clear catas and i'm like, why aren't one of you coming with us! Like in that sitatuon, it was like just one of you make a decision, if the other is doing it, say okay, i'll go with the team or talk about it in comms, it comes back to what I say to my team all the time, communicate! tell us stuff, tell us what your doing or want to do, that way we can prepare and react better and follow up!

A lot of the time, I have the opposite problem. I will ping help in an empty lane, for soaking, and half the fucking team goes bot. Or I will ping danger on the boss, and instead of one scouting boss, we get the rest of the team going all in 3v5.

In randoms people can and often will get offended if you specifically call them. It appears as if you trying to take the reins. Of course there are people who just take this in stride or even think you are better but it probably generates the sorts of feeling you pretend to be above them. Playing random teams is like a jungle, listening to your shot calls is rather optional.

@mathiasm12

Well, i would encourage your team to join voice, it's an easy way to get an advantage on your opponents (at least in lower ranks), since not alot of people use it. If not i suppose you could write it quickly in chat, or ping cassia and then camp.
@zephyrsaix8319
@zephyrsaix8319 6 жыл бұрын
enkryptor you ping cassia and then the camp, you can add an extra help ping to the camp to be more clear but usually when you ping a player and then an action its pretty much understood that you are asking for that player to do that action
@Repenter0
@Repenter0 6 жыл бұрын
Ping them, then ping assist at the camp. Thats probably the most realistic way to do so and only takes two pings. Ideally though you just use voice chat and verbally tell them. That said in public games there is rarely a clear "shot caller" type role.
@djS0nics
@djS0nics 6 жыл бұрын
Join voice or type it out. Otherwise ping her *once* and then help-ping the camp *once*. Either she gets the idea and will help or she doesn't get it or she doesn't want to help. *Never* spam ping her. If she did not understand the first ping, she won't understand the second/ third/ all following pings either. If she decided not to follow your call she won't change her mind just because someone is spam-pinging her. I personally double ping in urgent cases or triple ping in (what I consider as) game-changing situations.

hmm this question is prob the most random one buuut what's your whitemane build in this video ?
@willyvereb
@willyvereb 6 жыл бұрын
Eh, seems to be a standard W build as far as I see. Whitemane's builds are the most defined at the early level after which it is situational. Paradox likely prefers Intercession since it's a Cleanse but giving Desperation stacks which with High Inquisition build can even translate into free mana. I also think he likes Guiding Light (at least he did in his review) but maybe he switched to High Inquisition now. Paradox doesn't hit me as somebody who likes self heal procs over other talents so those are nixed. On the other hand Radiance is a whole other matter as it helps for the entire team's survival. If he doesn't wish to upgrade his ult he might try going for Shared Punishment, too. Maybe not, though. He wasn't that impressed by Subjugation at Level 20 which would be considerably improved if you take the level 16 W talent prior. This is pure guesswork, though. As I said in the video you only see level 6 with level 7 only appearing in the very end. You already see Clemency and High Inquisition procs in the vid so those picks are obvious. The rest are as I explained is a mystery.
