I am so sorry. It a lesson learnest many times in life. Never allow someone else do a job you can only do yourself. That is devastating. I am so so sorry.

It’s a shame you can’t get that guy to pay for what he did, it was his fault the dress was ruined, not yours!! The dress, from what I could see from the snippets, looks absolutely gorgeous, I hope you get a chance to try it again, and this time have someone (like a bodyguard but for clothes?) who can tell people to shove off and let you handle it, so all your hard work will truly be able to pay off!!

I’m so sorry the dress was torn. Save the trim, it was indeed perfect, and maybe try a redo someday. You had such vision, and it was beautiful and full of Christmas spirit. I love the concept of a light up dress too… maybe make a light up Cinderella dress? That’s a Barbie many of us had growing up and if her dress lit up, it would’ve been the coolest thing ever. (Hide some of the wires in the skirt layers, or make them attachable to a hoop skirt or something?) The outfit you wore instead was equally as stunning in an entirely different way. Gorgeous ❤️🎄

Wow it looks like you did an excellent job. The trims were just about exact! I have been pinning so many Barbies on Pinterest just out of boredom and it’s addicting bc I never knew there were so many different ones. But this one is one of my absolute favorites, the gown is the ultimate Christmas gown. From what I’ve seen, my favorite holiday or winter Barbie by far. Did u study theater? I have a BA in apparel design and the theater majors who sometimes used our sewing machines were insanely talented, like you! ❤🎄

Wow! That looks STUNNING! Honestly, I can understand in the emotional after-wake and disappointment not wanting to wear it. But truly, I would (and probably others) love if you said screw it to light up and finished it anyways. That, or find a dressmaker or technician that could help you repair it. As for the sleeves: don’t make a REAL bow. Rather, have the back piece be able to separate from the arms, which could also function as normal sleeves that can snap on & off kinda thing. You could also do something more inspired like an elegant shawl that’s tied into a bow at the back (think of someone turning a regular scarf into an infinity scarf and then wearing as a shawl. The bow should be just in the lumbar (lower) back region)). But absolutely no pressure if it’s just too painful to return to. While closure is nice, sometimes we do really need to move on. Love you gorgeous creations. All the best! 🥰

I would still LOVE to see it on you even without the lights. From what I remember the Barie wasn't light up anyway so you just bringing it to life would be fabulous in itself

Aww noes I have that Holiday Barbie! I'd love to see it irl! The ribbons were a perfect match. I'd prefer it without the lights actually. It changes the look. Perhaps use heavy duty wire edging in back to hold the ribbon bow up around your arms. Wishing you Good Luck

I will never be tempted to the LEDs. I watched a few videos of Hazriel futzing about with them and that was moooore than enough. I'd still sake remake the costume without the LEDs because it'll be super stinkin' cute.

If I were you, I would have had his job. You made it clear to back off and he didn't. He's on the hook for all that labor you put in. Damage to personal property. I'm so sorry that happened to you. On a side note, that is the same Barbie that had a misprint on its box that year and the backing inside was different than the what was supposed to be. Only a few people got the misprinted boxes.

Ohhhhmygoshhh i wouldve been soooo mad & so upset, i wouldve just broken down * had a good ole fashioned ugly sob session 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤣 girl ALLL thay time & work! I really hope there is a way for you to try w/ it again for the following year. Maybe theres a way to hook all the cords together then maybe have it beable to velco or something on/off the dress, then its removable in case of future damage or accidents or even to clean..? Theres gotta be some way to salvage it. 🤔 🤔 & the bottom where all thebworing & cords were where you werent sure what to do with - in another one of your shoets, you explained how dresses use yo have an extra piece of fabric or cloth sewn or pinned along the very bottom (i wanna say it was called a duster maybe, i dnt remember right now) but it was to protect the bottom of the dresses frok grtting dirty & grimey from the syreets or whatever ground youre walking on. ...maybe use one of those w/ some kind of pocket or opening to stash the wiring & cords in? Idk just a suggestion.. ? Anyways its absolutely beautiful though. You can tellnyou put some major time and work into this. I have my Holiday Barbie 1988 Christmas edition. I was born in March '87 so i was like 21mo at Xmas 1988 so I was big enough to "play" with dolls and barbies. My mom wanted to start doing that every year but she wasnt able to get 1989s & then in 1990 she tried to get one but didnt go out of her way looking for the holiday barbie because she said I wasnt the biggest barbie doll fan, i wanted to play w/ babydolls more than Barbie dolls i guess. I never got to ay with, or even open tgat 1988 Holiday Barbie 😂 still unopen almost 36 years later. 😂🤷‍♂️

I have this Barbie. I got her from a thrift store. Since she was secondhand and not in the box I messed around with her accessories. And figured out about the Bow shawl thing.

Oof, just off. I hope it's fixable, maybe it won't glow in the dark anymore, but you'll still be holiday Barbie, that trim is too prefect to waste. Good to know if my sister goes along with my scheme of making the holiday Barbie of our birthyear that this one may be the one I cry the most over. I thought it was going to be mine, the 1993 holiday Barbie because of all the beads I was going to have to stitch on the bodice and the poinsettia sleeves? but it might just be this one. At least my other sister 1998 holiday Barbie is still going to be the easiest, silver lining?
