Stop junctions always require you to actually STOP AT THE LINE. A lot of people stop too far short of the junction in a place where it is impossible to see enough of the main road and then do a peep and creep and continue on the roll out onto the main road. This is a fail, when you think about it if you stopped twenty feet short then emerged on the roll you have not stopped at the junction line. Basically you need to stop in a position where you may see enough down the main road, this might be the second stop you do because you could not see enough at your first stopped location. So peep and creep then when you can see enough STOP again, then look again and move off from there.

Lol, Heavy Goods Vehicles with a high centre of gravity due to a full load go around roundabouts very slowly and take up more than one lane. This is important to understand as a car driver. A couple of mph too fast and they topple.

@Jack Scanlon My car (a Toyota Yaris) actually has a satnav mounted in the centre console, I found it very dstracting at first to look down there to see what 'she' (the sat-nag) was saying. So much so that I mounted a second satnav at the bottom right of the windscreen meaning I can flick my eyes to that instead of turning my head and actually looking into the car

@shannonbriggs100
@shannonbriggs100 9 ай бұрын
@@Black.Sabbath Depends. I turn corners with the clutch held down if I’m in 1st or going too slow for 2nd gear. As soon as I’ve finished my turn, I’ll slowly lift the clutch back up and maybe add a few revs if I’m in 2nd gear. I never end up going faster because I’m slowing it down using my brakes anyway. However, I have held the clutch down a few times while in 3rd gear (coming up to a red light and just using clutch and brake to slow down rather than going down in gears) and only once in 4th. It only happened once in 4th because the speed really does get faster, especially if the road is going slightly downhill. You soon learn how important engine braking is when the car jumps from 35mph to 45mph within a second.

I bought your course and find it very helpful and I think it’s so nice that you put all the time and effort into making such an informative course. I live in Luton and have the worst driving instructor ever, when she drives me to the location she doesn’t teach me anything and wastes time, then she has a go when I make mistakes. I have very bad driving anxiety and she makes it worse. I’ve changed instructors a lot of times which is why I’m not changing. When I drive I sometimes start slowing down sometimes coz of driving anxiety my instructor said I’m an unpredictable driver and that she doesn’t like unpredictable drivers, I just hate it I’m paying her so much money just to feel down and worthless after each lesson, I failed my test twice I panic way too much , feel like giving up on driving I don’t think it’s for :’( which I could be have an instructor like you

I have to say that I used to be just like this guy pressing the clutch all the time. In my case it was because I was so afraid of stalling, but with time you know the minimum speed before needing to press the clutch. Just keep on practising :)

@@djtrixzx why would it not be good for the motor? It's basicly running idle. You just have to make sure the rpm matches when re-engaging.

Great video. How did you know he was coasting? I tend to do this as well and need to fix it... also on the reverse bay parking: are we supposed to look on our right blind spot and back window just once or multiple times during the manouvre?

Quick question, I’m currently having lessons and I’ve had 4 lesions (8 hours). My instructors car automatically applies the hand break when pushed fully down at traffic so it holds you stationary. This makes it much easier at the car pulls away once you find the biting point however my first car won’t have this function. How can I get used to driving with a normal hand break in a car instead of an automatic one as I believe I will be able to pass with his car however I’ll find it a bit harder when driving in another car with a normal hand break as I’m not used to it.

Ask family or a mate to drive it to a local shopping centre when it's quiet, practice and then drive it home yourself. This is what I did and it worked. Try hill starts too as a different clutch could cause you afew issues at first.

You didn't tell him to apply the hand brake and put in neutral when the car comes to a stop, but he always did. And every other student does, too. Is that a rule in the UK? Or just a habit? And what's the reason for that? Isn't the foot brake enough? Thanks

Is it a standard procedure to handbrake when waiting at a traffic light in the UK? Because when I drive and wait for a traffic light I only brake with my foot and if it's a hill I keep braking and otherwise I release the brake and just wait without a brake.

I think if you're driving an automatic (for example a lot of people in the US do) then you're only really using two pedals, the brake and the accelerator and have better control at all times. With a clutch added, there's a point where you have to take off your foot from the brake to get to the accelerator and set up the motions of moving off quickly, and for me if I'm on a hill especially and there's a car close behind, there's a risk of the car rolling back a little if that bite point isn't there. In which case I prefer to get it set up with the hand brake down then let go. Not always needed but it forces that regular use of the hand brake as part of the routine which. I've only recently started driving and the car is a small Peugeot 107 which has a bit of a crappy bite point range. Some especially diesel ones have good clutch control and are probably easier to maintain that control. They also stall less often.

The reason for the handbrake at lights and other full stops is to prevent the car from moving if you are bumped from behind

Driving the speed limit on some country roads is dangerous IMO. I wouldn’t dream of driving 60 down most country lanes unless they were wide enough for two cars!

Hi! I’m from Slovenia and we drive on the right side of the road. I had my second lesson yesterday and i’m not sure my driver instructor cares too much about really showing me and teaching me right. I told him i’m sceptical about driving over the line and he ignored me. 😟 On my first driving lesson he already put me on the busy roads in the town and yesterday outside the town with 85km/h. If i would live in the UK, i would definitely want you to be my driving instructor.😔
