The studio interference was the only way we got the dramatic ending🤷‍♀️ yes, father Morning was shoehorned in but the “I believe” speech was fantastic! The creepy visuals of the little boy crucified on boat oars, the priests skin getting ripped off! Man! Comparing that to Kinderman walking into the cell in silence and shooting Karras without a word ….no thank Imo 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I enjoyed isolated moments from each of the prequel films. I wish they'd been able to keep Gabriel Mann in both films, as it would be nice to compose a fan edit encompassing the best elements of both projects. By the way, I ADORE your channel. You have a new subscriber.

This is from that era when Paul Schrader (Director of this movie and writer of Taxi Driver) seemed to be struggling to get decent projects made, basically anything made between Auto Focus & First Reformed.

It would be interesting if someone took both films and edited them together to see if there was a good film hiding in both films. The only real problem would be the film would then be changing filming and lighting style every few minutes, and neither film really has a good approach to the possesed person.

...I think it can be done. There is a lot of tech out there using LLM that can update the lighting of a scene to make it seamless. I'd be tempted but that is like...a lot of work.

I hated this one. They turned Pazuzu into a p**sy. He walks around all and seductively and his worst insult to Merrin is “you are a weak vessel”. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

There are things I like and don't like about both but I like The Beginning better. The tone and feel is closer to the original. It does have it's silly moments and it does have early CG but it feels better than this one and they use the original Pazuzu statue and the church interior isn't overlit. But yes I do like the characters in this one

I think both missed the mark. There should be a mix of the 2 and make one film. Now the TV series got it right and still like it. They could have used Linda Blair and Ellen Burstin for that! Looking forward to your thoughts on the "sequel"@@RocklinGraves

The tv show starts out great and then also turns really goofy and dumb. Every SINGLE person that tries to make a new movie in the universe seems to not understand what the exorcist is all about.

The Exorcist: Let's put the demon's face on the cabinet in the dark for a single frame so audiences don't even know if they actually saw it. Dominion: Let's photoshop the demon's face over the dude's head like a bad KZbin thumbnail.

This movie is very GOOD. I wouldn't say it's great by any means, but it's definitely more in style, tone and pacing of the previous Blatty entries. When you watch it back to back with "The Beginning", it feels like a masterpiece though

"The Exorcist" ranking: 1 - "The Exorcist". 2 - "The Exorcist 3". 3 - "The Exorcist TV Series" (mainly the first season, and the quality is practically the same of "The Exorcist 3"). 4 - "Dominion" (far away from the top 3). 5 - "Exorcist: The Beginning". 6 - "Exorcist 2: The Heretic". There's a kind of "spin-off" called "The Ninth Configuration" written by Blatty which the main character is the astronaut who is threatened by Regan in the Chris' anniversary party. Also this one has a adaptation directed by Blatty and the mood is very very similar with "Exorcist 3", with existential monologues, ankward atmosphere and nihilist characters. It's considered by some as the "real Exorcist 2" and this creates something like as the "blattyverse".

I dont know if im going insane, but i think that netflix in germany might have mixed up the prequels. I watched the movie titled dominion tonight and im pretty Sure its actually the beginning. Didnt make it easier to Figure out the whole production history

Merrin is such a beautiful and powerful character. Too bad that noone made some justice to him creating a decent background story about his first encounter with the evil. There's a strong dramaticity knowing that he almost died in the process, maybe this being the reason of why he's cardiopath. Blatty could have created the ideal background story about him, but if he didn't maybe it was because his intention about Merrin was to maintain the mistery about his past leaving this subject open to imagination.

I liked The Beginning more than Dominion. It's unfortunate because there is a good movie in there somewhere. The acting was good and had some good cinematography. Wish it was better. Based on the early reviews of Believer it's a masterpiece!!! Lol Dude, Merrin bribing the workers with meth! About spit it my drink. Stuff like that is why your channel is gonna kill! Thanks man

I’ve only seen this one of the two prequels and I thought it was . . . alright. I mean, it’s Paul Schrader so it would always be nothing if not interesting, but it is and will always be an unfinished film. And not all that scary

There's nothing decent about either of these prequels. Both were trash and a waste of time and the fact you find value in either of them above Exorcist II even is laughable. Also, not a SEQUEL if it's a prequel before the events of everything, fool.

Beginning blows away dominion....dominion is filmed like a tv show or series...lame as hell....beginning has an awesome opening and overall much better on every count....merrins flashback from WW 2 is a hundred tmes better in beginning
