@@SundayAshiedu Unity is for those who identify as Nigerians. The idea of Biafra, as clung to by many, may never materialize. It's important to note that I have lost relatives from both my parents' sides, who are from the western and eastern regions of the country during the civil war. The Igbo people are diverse and not a single entity; a separation now could lead to further divisions into smaller groups. It's crucial to consider this perspective. I share Igbo heritage, so this is not a baseless argument. Your hatred for other Nigerians outside of your tribal enslavement is not the solution to Nigeria's problems. 99% of the world today has numerous ethnic groups forming their countries. Most of the successful Igbos achieved success in other parts of the nation. Stop fanning the flames of disunity as it will get you nowhere.
@SundayAshiedu8 ай бұрын
@@ibrahimsalami4014 First of all, I never said anything about Biafra. Why bringing Biafra into this! You nailed the point that unity of Nigeria is for those who identifies themselves as Nigerians. This is the perfect reason why you and those who identifies as Nigerians should keep their Nigeria and enjoy it. And, let those who does not identify themselves as Nigerians that wants to leave leave for peace to reign. Why would anyone in their right mind would want to live with someone that does not want to live with them. Coexistence is not by force anywhere in the world but only in Nigeria or Africa. You can not coexist with those that does not want to coexist with you. Sorry for your lost in the war. I am praying very hard for you and your one Nigerianist. May one Nigeria happen to you. Sadly, you are learning the wrong "history". You are learning that a cowardly, deranged thug who distinguished himself by killing unarmed civilians was a dreaded hero. But you are not learning that for the first time in the history of war, USSR, UK, Arab League etc. were united in fighting a small emerging African state which was blockaded by air, land and sea and pulverized with Mig 17s provided by USSR and flown by Egyptian pilots to destroy cities with no air defences. They haven't told you that for that for the first time in the history of war, Red Cross planes were wilfully shot down and crew members killed with no consequences. Now go to Sao Tome and see for yourself a museum of black wickedness- mountain of relief supplies-milk, food, medicine etc. prevented from reaching Igbo civilians while over 3million women and children were starved to death.

My question is if Gen. Benjamin Adekunle was considered a military genius, can you provide any pacific details regarding battles he led or participate in?
@Taythestoryteller8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Glenn Peterson. The whole point of my videos is to create more interest in Nigerian military history so that my viewers can do more research, acquaint themselves with history and come up with their own conclusions. However to answer your question, Brigadier Adekunle played a critical role in ending the Nigerian civil war (1967-1970) as commander of the 3rd marine commando. His exploits in that war is what brought him national notoriety and there is a lot of good literature that covers the Nigerian civil war in detail. I also have a few videos on my channel that touches on the civil war so feel free to go through the channel and enjoy your viewing

@@Taythestoryteller, I appreciate you responding to me so quickly & not taking offense to my critique. I'm having a little trouble finding any detail info on Gen. Adekunle outside wikipedia, are there any books or sources you can point me in the direction of on this matter?
@Taythestoryteller8 ай бұрын
I am aware that Adekunle's son published a biography on his father but the book has been out of circulation for years. As you may have noticed from the comments generated by this video, Adekunle was a polarizing figure considered a war hero by some and a villain by others. There is an abundance of literature about the Nigerian civil war especially from people who actively took part. Accounts of Adekunle will depend largely on the affiliation of the author at the time of the civil war.

@glennpeterson2477 Black scorpion (deputized by Shittu Alao) led the first successful amphibious marine war operation (Operation Tiger Claws) by any black nation/troop in the world.... to seize bonny and onwards portharcourt, there the federal troop was able to break the deadlock to gain territory & gained access, which is pivotal to change the momentum, as to push the rebel back and continue marching ahead in the war. Which eventually quarantees the upper hand.

The tragedy of this war goes beyond it's brutality. It is that both before and after the war, nothing was learnt. Rampant ethno religious triumphalism as well as corrupt public institutions are still very much with us. More people have died of the Nigerian question after the war than during the war. As for the Major, brave soldier but the degrading treatment meted out to innocent civilians can not erased from history. Truly a sad spectacle! May the little ones live in a better nation where they will not have to cope with deprivation and misrule.

ADEKUNLE, Benjamin, the Black Scorpion was exceptional together with his closest Assistants, Brigadier Generals Alabi Isama and Alani Akinrinade. They HELPED to ensure the most Senior Military Officer, Olusegun Obasanjo, became the Head of State after the death of General Murtala Ramat Mohammed. This was done to prevent a similar occurrence in 1966, when Brigadier General Theophilus Aguiyin Ironsi took on the reigns of power when the most Senior Officer then, Brigadier General Ogundipe, chose to run to London! Unfortunately, OBJ made Brigadier Yakubu Danjuma the Chief of Army Staff over his HELPERS and together Alabi Isama and others were retired early! I remember Alabi Isama's was 1977!

He did not write that book. Have someone read it and explain it to you. That book was written by the late Major Adewale Ademoyega and it details his role in the 15 January 1966 coup. He gave the signal to commence that coup and he was the person chosen to make the coup broadcast to the nation( not Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu).

@ekusondebango35688 ай бұрын
@@jamesentonu984 Nope! Major Adewale Ademoyega is one out of the many Yoruba guys who participated in the "Ibo" coup. He was imprisoned by General Ironsi but ended in Biafra during the war. Adekunle was in Nigeria throughout the war. When the Organization of African Unity today's African Union) pretended to be holding peace talks Adekunle mocked the initials O.A.U. by announcing a bold operation against us code named Operation O.A.U. during which he boasted that he will capture Owerri, Aba, Umuahia. That turned out to be a disaster as we whittled down his entire 3rd Division from a strength of about 50,000 down to a mere 11, 000 or less in less than one years. That sealed his career as a division commander as Mr. Gowon was displeased with his performance. I mean, Adekunle sent too many young men to their early grave. I was active in Owerri at this time and I am sure that the people of Owerri are still finding skeletal remains there. We completely cut them off from their supplies and when they went to the Otamiri river to fetch some water our snipers sprung into action. When the bloody Egyptian towelhead pilots attempted an airdrop, we opened up on them with the few anti-aircraft guns in our possession. These pilots ,not wanting to die in an African war, would deliver their payload within territory held by us. That was how we sustained the war for a while. When Obasanjo took over from Adekunle, he said that troops in his 3rd Division regularly shot themselves in the hand or leg to avoid facing Biafran bullets. Read his book. We eventually also got to Obasanjo when we shot him at close range. A lucky man he is. I don't want to say more now. JUST LET IT GO GUYS.

when ojukwu killed Col Banjo who was leading biafra army, the east hailed the action when the igbo soldiers killed all the leaders of other regions and left the igbo politicians, it was smart and good according to igbos when aguiyi ironsi refused to probe the igbo coup plotters, igbo hailed it when nnamid azikwe and balewa arrested awolowo and imprisoned him, that was wisdom according to igbos. when Brigadier Wellington Duke Bassey, the man who commanded nigerian army parade and the seniormost military officer at independence was fraudulently demoted and his junior( aguyi ironsi, who he personally trained and was commissioned 3 years under him ), was elevated above him , that was hailed by igbos. When aguiyi ironsi sacked the yoruba man who was the senior most judge of the country and a junior igbo man was unilaterally promoted, and despite the clamour of the all other ethnic groups on nigeria then, aguiyi Ironsi claimed it was a decision of government. It was good by igbos then BUT When Benjamin Adekunle defended against invasion of lagos by igbo soldiers, that is genocide. of course, you guys think you are actually brilliant.
