HERE ARE THE BETAINE PILLS I RECOMMEND Amazon - US Betaine HCL - amzn.to/3HY52sr Amazon - CAD Betaine HCL - amzn.to/3SzjzBi I have tried them with and without Pepsin and don't notice any difference. The pills linked have the best value/reviews I could find. Baking Soda MIXTURE (for LPR): 250 ml (1 cup) of alkaline water 1/2 tbsp baking soda I hope this video gives you hope! REALLY be mindful of your lifestyle choices (do you drink a lot of bubbly water? Do you chew your food well? Are you sensitive to any foods you eat?) because it could very likely be something you aren't considering that's causing you pain. Some of my biggest contributing factors were: eating portions that were too large, not chewing well enough, eating too close to bed, and consuming too much liquid with a meal. Also if you found the video helped and would like to support me you can do that here: www.buymeacoffee.com/sahdlife I put a lot of time and effort into my channel and really appreciate the support👊If I've helped you out please help me out! Every dollar helps a small creator like me.

10:24 did you had low acid or high acid? 4:25 you said you never burp when you do those tests so I'm just going to assume that you have low acid. But you also mentioned that you think you got reflux from drinking too much alcohol, which makes me confused of why you got low stomach acid when you've drank too much alcohol before. Does alcohol lowers stomach acid?
@TheSAHDLife

@@Aki2024. Oh yeah, low acid for sure. I would consistently mess up my stomach... beer and and bubbly water has tons of carbonation right? And if I was drinking 4-8 drinks every night, imagine the amount of pressure that puts on your LES... not only that, think of how much that dilutes your stomach acid if you are constantly keeping it full of weaker liquid. Plus I would do that right until bed then lay down with a full stomach... ugh.

@@TheSAHDLife thank you for the quick response ☺️ i think I've been doing it wrong all these years. I've been taking antacid to get relief from my reflux and I'm not sure if i have low or high acid. Before I got reflux, I've been drinking too much soda like coca cola, coffee and probably from smoking too much 🚬. I'm going to try to make the spray relief you mentioned in your video and will do the burp test soon. Thank you 😊

@@Aki2024. It sounds like you are on the right path... it took me a long time to figure out what was going on with my body. When we age our body changes how it handles things... I used to be able to eat a huge meal then drink 4-5 beers after. Now, if I have a large meal then have a beer, I'm going to be full all night and might even have trouble digesting that night. Yeah the smoking will hurt too. You gotta cut that out. My wife and I quit years ago and life just improved so much. You actually become happier since you aren't constantly worrying about your next smoke. Check out Allen Carr's Stop Smoking book if you need help with that. Be patient and chew your food... You will heal!

I hear you. Hopefully the other tips in the video help you/others start putting their diet and lifestyle choices under the microscope to figure out what is going on because obviously what you are doing isn't working. For me, eating smaller portion sizes, chewing more, and not eating close to bed were a huge part of my healing, but it took me a long time to realize that. It's almost easier when doctors find something wrong because then there's a path to fixing it. I know the frustration when people just shrug their shoulders. The only way to fix it is to keep experimenting and learning until you find what works for you. Maybe you're allergic to onions... It could be many things. Just trying to help.

It's crazy that when I ask my gastrologist about acid reflux she told me it was 'controversial' when associating it with low acidity. Insane considering ive heard so many people who benefitted from adding acid to their stomachs before eating. I hate that doctors normally do nothing but ignore you or push pills without ever solving issues

Yeah I hear that. I mean to be fair it's a hard job... And there are so many factors that they can't control that could cause the problem.... Drinking, smoking, over eating etc. They don't know what people's lifestyles are. But I guess the point is they sort of should or at least ask a little more about that... And they don't. That's pretty much the first thing I usually ask people and I'm not a doctor. "What do you eat, how much, and when". I've had thousands of comments and I would argue most of the time people don't even realize that they have a sensitivity to a certain food.

You are literally an angel! This video has given me hope… I’m 26 Years old suffering from GERD and it’s been a night mare. It first started off with me getting panic attacks. I got diagnosed w/ a panic disorder which I knew something was off because I am a very social butterfly. & now I’m getting crazy symptoms like burping after every meal, I’m super gassy, I still get my panic attacks here and there, heart palpitations after I eat, etc you know name. I was a full time student and part time work and it’s caused me to miss out on both cause the symptoms get so bad. I was honestly giving up hope but after seeing this video it felt like a father figure telling me that everything is going to be ok 🥺 I appreciate you more than you know! I’ll give the baking soda test a shot tomorrow. Greetings from Palm Springs! 🫶🏼

Years ago my wife and I suffered from acid reflux. It was quite awful. Frequent belching and you can taste and feel the acid rising from stomach up to esophagus. Sometimes it was painful and we felt a lot of discomfort. We avoided certain foods and drinks which could trigger the reflux. All of that went away after we got rid of the problem. All we did was ate fruits such red apple delicious and Fuji apples for a few days and we are amazed acid reflux was gone. Thanks to a fellow church member who recommended the treatment. It worked and to this day we never had acid reflux again.

I stared taking lemon water with apple cider vinegar four days ago and feel so good, that I haven’t taken any anti acid pills. I do burp when I am bit hungry, still have to do baking soda test, but it appears I am low on stomach acid, reason being I feel so much better after suffering for years, with gerd, with no acid reflux , just pain in upper stomach. Unwell feeling which makes my legs go weak and heavy, only to get better when my stomach feels better. I can’t express more to thank and appreciate your videos to bring relief to me. You are truly a life saver from pain, and helpless situation suffering from gerd. Blessings to you.

Just planting some seeds... I have read some success stories with keto/carnivore diet. I think you can heal without it (doing the betaine approach) but a lot of times we have sensitivities to gluten/dairy which can make it tougher/slower to heal. Sometimes the more hardcore elimination diets can really speed things along. Good for you though, it sounds like you are on the right path.

Did the burp test yesterday and didn’t burp for over 5+ mins, and it was a tiny one. Got the Betaine HCL and started that yesterday afternoon. I’ve been sick with something unknown for a year and a half and was bed ridden for quite some time, and was having some other issues before that (not sure if it was connected to this.) Saw a 2nd ENT almost 2 weeks ago and he said I had vocal cord dysfunction due to LPR and put me on PPI’s. They made me feel worse, so I stopped on my own after only a week and was hopeless again and I didn’t know what to do. So grateful I found this video. Saw the same info from Dr. Berg about low acid. Hoping it doesn’t take more than a few days to start noticing a difference. I’ve missed a year and a half of my kids’ childhood. I have 4 kids and my two youngest now 6&8 don’t remember the “normal” me, they’ve only known sick mommy. I want my life back! Hopefully this helps 🤞🏼😢

I've been dealing with the Silent Refulx for years now... Never knew it exsisted... I've had the Barium Drink, Upper Endiscopy as well. I've heard you have Refulx, possibly GERD, possibly a Hiatal Hernia... evernthing. I remember having the LPR symptoms about 8-10 years ago while remembering that I was going through a lot of personal issues. I stopped eating food for a while... eventually my personal issues got a lot better, then the symptosms went away. I have anxiety as well, so dealing with the tightness around my larynx was extremley bothersome! The last few months have been TERRIBLE for me. My stress has gone up about 300% and now the symptoms have came back, and of course the anxiety has bloomed as well! Thank you for this video and the LPR video you previously posted. Glad you found the video :) And it sounds like we have very similar issues. To be honest, for me, healing was a bit of a 1 - 2 punch... not only did I have to learn what was going on with my body, I have had to learn what's going on in my mind. And only when the mind was better did the body truly heal. I try and give people help with the physical stuff while eluding or suggesting the mental things. For me, when I was at my lowest, I found The Untethered Soul which was a book that sent me on a path of mindful awareness. I even made a video about it! My condition got worse and was wondering what the heck is going on!!! Apple cider vinegar helped me but not anymore. The problem recently appeared an I'm with sore throat, stuffy nose, throat clearing, etc etc. After watching your video, which for me is a medical masterpiece from someone who isn't a doctor but who offers the BEST advice based on his own experience, I've ordered yesterday my betaine capsules and I'm hoping they're gonna work 🤞. And after doing the burp test for 5 to 6 times yes I have hypochlorydria that's why antacids and ppi don't work. THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER❤❤❤

Glad you found the video my friend! The betaine should help but be mindful of what you are eating, how much you are chewing, and when you are eating. My symptoms flare up pretty bad if I eat too close to bedtime... Also gluten seems to affect me. If things are really bad for you I highly recommend writing a food journal of everything you eat and then when your symptoms flare up you can look back and see what maybe caused it.

Thanks for these suggestions! The biggest thing that improved so much my gerd and lpr is doing breathing exercises to improve diaphragm and hiatal ernias. Mine is about 2cm and is pretty common in gerd sufferers. If you study the problem from the root, you understand how that these have a huge impact in your symptoms. There are many videos that explains how to do these exercises.. I highly recommend all of you give a try to these on a regular basis! For the ones that despite these and diet improvements are still in struggle, in Europe is now available a new surgery treatment named Refluxstop that it appears to be the only one surgical treatment that respects the natural anatomy and the results seems to be very good! It shoulds also be approved by FDA soon, becoming available in USA too. (Sorry for my english i'm an italian guy)

@@TheSAHDLife Thanks, for these nice videos too. For the breathing exercises personally I started with a method name "Metodo Trabucco", there is a book that explains any of these exercises, but it's in italian. After a while I searched videos on KZbin and I found many people that are explaining diaphragm breathing exercises. Now I'm focused on the exercises that are working better for me. The most important thing is doing the exercises in the most correct way possible, and if possible on a daily basis for 1/2 months (after that you can reduce the time to maintain the benefits, now I'm doing something like 3 times a week, 20 minutes per session). Someone could feel relief almost immediately, for others it can take weeks. You could start with this videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnvGZmyJZ9iJia8si=67k8IMd4pfwqd1rd kzbin.info/aero/PLp2VGrLcKxSRsiLAoixjEwTgxZ_zKSnNy&si=G6bP7_JYtRZFTFYK But I recommend to explore different exercises and other channels to understand what works best to you. Relax and focus on your diaphragm and your body while you are doing these exercises. The secret here is to stretch, strengthen and train your diaphragm, but gradually and respecting the times of your body. I hope it will make the difference to you like it is making for me 🙏🏼 Any scientific lectures on support of doing these exercises to treat reflux: -www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2212958822000349 -apm.amegroups.org/article/view/38240/29295 -pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33009052/#:~:text=Discussion%3A%20In%20patients%20with%20upright,DB%20as%20therapy%20for%20GERD.

I’ve paid thousands of dollars seeing medical doctors and they have never been able to diagnose me with this problem or prescribe something too treat the discomfort. Raising the pillow alone did not work, i had to give my whole body a gentle but strait slope downward while i sleep, avoiding neck and back pain. I avoid turning on my right shoulder, but sleeping on left shoulder and on my back is ok. I carry my blocks wherever i go so i always select small twin beds as it makes it easier to manage. Eating a Mediterranean diet helped a lot by avoiding some crisis with specific food i had problems with, such as heavy meat and sauces. Good luck everyone.

A note on betaine. You need to be careful with it. As you increase the acid in your stomach, following digestion, your gallbladder sends bile into the small intestine to neutralize it. If you’re missing your gall bladder, then your liver sends the bile in albeit more slowly. It’s very important for the acid to get neutralized. Otherwise it will create an issue in your small intestine. Discomfort is a good sign you may have too much when taking betaine. Some people also take bile salts with this supplement to help neutralize it but they don’t take them together. They give betaine time to work increasing acid to digest food. Then after some time add in the bile salts to neutralize it.

I am 76 with a big garden which provides most of my food. About 10 years I ate some bad food (tasted good) at a potluck which gave me violent belching for 2 days. After that the intensity abated, but the attacks of belching have persisted, erratically with no pattern, yet with no pain, discomfort, bad taste or odor. Since spring I have been getting my weight down by watching my carbs, having a tiny meal around 11 am (yogurt/blueberries/strawberries) and a big meal before 7 - salad, steamed veggies, tempeh, tofu, or cheese, what most people would consider an extremely heathy diet. Now I am at a healthy weight, but my BP went up. I've been on 25 mg of Losartan since Dec.5. Five days ago I had chest pain so bad my breathing was shallow. I am no wimp regarding pain, natural childbirth with no yelling or screaming, but this was knocking me out. Five hours in the ER determined it wasn't my heart. I started 20 mg of Omeprazole Friday. The chest pain is alleviated, but I am still belching. STILL BELCHING! The doctor I don't consult anymore said I was just swallowing air and dismissed the issue entirely. I always eat slowly, mindfully, small mouthfuls. I am baffled. Endoscopy Mar. 4.

Almost recovered from LPR with only the lump-like Feeling (Globus Sensation) and phlegm in my throat left. Saw your Silent Reflux Treatment video a couple weeks ago and the baking soda and alkaline water method did provide relief for me, but not a cure all alone. Just a sign of what food to avoid for me. In conjunction, I was doing and not doing as you stated in this video to assist with the healing process, but mainly had to change my diet by avoiding trigger foods that would cause my throat to burn and flare up such as Spicy, Caffeine, Vinegar, and Alcohol (all Acidic). I'm hoping to be completely healed soon. Problem is when i think I've gotten better i try one of the trigger foods and then set back for another 2-3 days due to inflammation/flare up again. So def. need to be disciplined a little longer!

I’m honestly kind of surprised my doctor didn’t tell me to try Betaine before prescribing ppi’s. I’m guessing most doctors just don’t know much about low stomach acid and think reflux is only caused by high stomach acid.

I have suffered from gerd for a few years and watched so many videos on the subject but found this one the most interesting, love your personality in explaining it all. I have tried eating smaller portions as too big a meal means the lower sphincter is not shutting and then heartburn is caused. I have been scared to use betaine supplements as scared of making it worse. The biggest problem I have been experiencing is a pain in my eosophagus like someone hit me with a brick accompanied by a lot of waterbrash to the point of coughing it all up. The general consensus is the body produces more saliva to protect the body from the acid so I am sure it is caused by acid reflux. It was interesting to hear someone else having chest pain.I am thinking of having an endoscopy to check it as when all this happens I cannot swallow without pain then the next few days I will be ok. The whole digestion thing is very complex and so important to resolve, doctors just keep prescribing ppi's the answer to everything. Great video.

I really do think stress is a huge factor. It comes out in so many ways. I'm going down a mindfulness approach and listening to many people (Michael Singer, Rupert Spira) have been a huge part of my healing. I do think dialing in with the eating amounts and timing is huge as well as raising the acid levels in the beginning. Keep us posted with how it goes.

I agree with the low acid issue. What I think most people are getting wrong is thinking adding acid will fix everything. It might help break food down and thus increase nutrient delivery, and it might help keep some bugs under control, but it's not really getting to the root cause. GERD is an autonomic system issue, there's a problem with your sympathetic and para-sympathetic nerve systems. The reason you have the issue is because you're low on thiamine. If you want to fix all the gut issues, but also the potential sleep apnea, high blood pressure, liver, pancreas and kidney issues, tingling in the feet and or hands, sciatica pain and on and on; You're going to want to look into thiamine deficiency symptoms and what causes thiamine deficiency.

@@TheSAHDLife I did every possible herb for two months shortly after getting back from Mexico in July 2023, but my guts got worse and worse after the initial relief. Eventually I had to see a Dr and they diagnosed me with gastritis due to H. Pylori, so this may be different from other people's journeys. The Doctor gave me antibiotics, anti-parasitics and an acid blocker (Pantaloc or Pantoprazole). This helped me after a few days, but once my prescription was finished the symptoms were back. I had already cut out all coffee, tea and cut out as much refined carbs as I could, but the bloating was unbearable. What I assumed was that I had methane dominant SIBO, as I was having trouble even passing gas and kept having the urge for a bowel movement with little to no success (lots of time just sitting on the toilet praying for gas or other relief). My Doctor ordered a stool and blood tests (Checking my C-reactive protein for potential long term inflammation markers), but the stool test I would need to wait 2 weeks as I was still taking Pantoprazole. The frustration was overwhelming, as my health has been one thing after another the last few years. I have had arthritis since my late 20's from years of repetitive movement working as a garbage man (Extremely physical work that had me stepping a few thousand times off and on a truck with lifting 30000kg-52000kg in a day). After the arthritis went away I woke up one day and couldn't turn over in bed, diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my hip with 50% cartilage loss. I have gout, which progressively got worse, gained weight, have shoulder pain from years spent chucking garbage, trouble sleeping or staying asleep, was diagnosed with ADHD last year (also realized I am likely on the spectrum as well), was having lots of emotional dysregulation and spiraled. I've been looking at my health for years, using fasting to keep my A1c down, lower inflammation by allowing my body time to heal through autophagy; But this was difficult to navigate as gout is worsened by fasting. Basically I have been pretty miserable as I was trying to get my health back. When I heard about thiamine deficiency, things made perfect sense for me (That's why I think people need to look into this for themselves). Lots of people have been on the struggle bus like myself. We get to this point where we simply can't do the things to make us healthy because all these things begin to happen. I had already expected I was low in B vitamins as my energy was low the last few years and my iron showed up as ideal. All my blood work has been excellent, even my C-reactive was good despite incredible aching in my shoulders and hip. My A1c is really low, my blood pressure is normal despite being overweight, my colonoscopy showed nothing wrong; Yet I have felt like I am slowly dying. Vyvanse was the only thing that helped me find energy and mental balance, along with Ashwagandha (2 weeks on 2 weeks off). I've tried the antidepressants and antianxiety medications, the cycle of side effects while loading, giving them a couple months and then on to the next one. The problem was my guts started to lessen the effectiveness of medication, so I knew there was an issue with absorption. I've been taking a multivitamin, B100 complex, Omega 3, Vitamin D with Vitamin K, Magnesium Glycinate for help sleeping, Dandelion Root (Have been taking for a couple years as I suspected my gallbladder and pancreas were not dumping enough bile and enzymes), along with Kefir and probiotics (I've also used Kimchi and Sauerkraut before my guts would no longer tolerate things). The only thing I've changed was I added Benfotiamine (First day I took one in the morning (80mg) with 400mg of Magnesium, 5000iu Vitamin D with K (I believe it's 100-200mg of K, it's a combination gel cap), 2000mg of Vitamin C (Supposedly helps heal the gut through absorption in the intestines when the excess gets dumped out). I then took 2 Benfotiamine in the afternoon and then one more at night (Same protocol with all the other vitamins other than the D with K as I take it twice a day). Day 2 I increased the Benfotiamine to 3 pills 3 times. By the end of day 2 my guts were as good as after the medication I got from the Doctor (Forgot to mention that after the medication from the doctor and my symptoms returned I began taking Mastic Gum with Olive Leaf Extract for two weeks with a tiny amount of improvement, I stopped these along with Vyvanse and Pantoprazole since I started with the B vitamin supplementation). I've added B 12 to the mix, taking 4x1200mg once in the late morning (keeping the multivitamin and B100 with Omega 3 for when I eat). I've added whole milk to my diet (Helps with H. Pylori bug and has thiamine in it), sauerkraut I take a few times a day (Just a few forks of it), and I use Kefir for any milk when baking bread or buns. I'm now up to 5 Benfotiamine 3 times a day, with my guts able to tolerate any foods I want now. Since taking the supplementation I can feel the acid in my guts have started to increase (there's a sensation of high acid at the top of my stomach without the reflux). My bowels move food like they used to (I was always one of those people who went 20-30 minutes after eating like clockwork). My plan is to do a long fast next week, I haven't done one in a few years as my body felt like it was missing nutrients to be able to complete more than 36hrs. My energy levels have been quite similar to when I was taking my 70 mg of Vyvanse (I am a high metabolizer). My advice is to keep a diet rich with thiamine, and make sure to understand how to supplement magnesium with vitamin D as the more Vitamin D the more magnesium you need, and thus more calcium (Another reason I added milk back into my diet, after not drinking it for years). Also make sure to eat bananas and or add smoothies that have lots of potassium as there are implications when using calcium and magnesium as a supplement (This is why I think most people should talk to their doctor to get the okay). I explained to my doctor what I suspected and offered him some information, www.amazon.ca/Thiamine-Deficiency-Disease-Dysautonomia-Malnutrition/dp/0128103876/ref=asc_df_0128103876/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=706765633093&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15460056222781841676&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001412&hvtargid=pla-417622035103&psc=1&mcid=395b43f387f0382cac99cc3a65a89175&gad_source=1&dplnkId=42541878-dc46-4adf-bd97-f5ad8752bd2c Anyways, hope your health is great and the people who come to you for advice get a chance to try thiamine to see whether it might help them get back their health. @@TheSAHDLife I posted a long response but it disappeared. Here is another. Not to be a broken record, but please do yourself a favor and look up thiamine deficiency symptoms. As a former garbage man, and someone who played sports all my life, including training with free weights; I began losing muscle mass in my late thirties. Eventually I found out that I also have osteoarthritis in my hip (50% loss of cartilage as of 6 years ago). If you're losing muscle mass, you're likely deficient in at least a few minerals. Over the years I simply started adding supplements to attempt to correct the perceived deficiencies. Not only has my body become weaker, now 50, but my emotional balance was gone as well. I watched my dad lose all his muscle mass before passing away from colon cancer. He was a heavy alcoholic for a large portion of my life, but that just adds to the evidence for a thiamine deficiency. There were some obvious signs of ADHD and Autism in my family, which depletes thiamine by the high resource needs to keep a hyper-stimulated nervous system running. Alcohol and coffee also deplete thiamine, the two things that my dad lived off. Although I have never been a drinker, I was an incredibly fit person who had a job that required about 2000-5000 steps up and down off of a truck (approximately 18 inches high), as well as physically lifting between 30000 and 50000kgs of weight in a day. High exercise will also deplete thiamine as thiamine is required to convert carbs and glycogen to ATP in the cells. I thought I ate healthier than most people, but the last few years have definitely been way too many carbs and processed foods. My advice is to look into whether a thiamine deficiency makes sense in your situation (PM me if you want some resources). Don't be tricked into thinking it's an easy "fix", but if you are low in thiamine and that is the source of your issues, you'll at least be in a position to regain your health and add some extra healthy years to your life.

@@TheSAHDLife I have noticed a huge increase in energy with the addition of Benfotiamine and B12. There is a nerve Dr. who recommended 5000mg of B12 if you suffer from low energy in the afternoon or after eating, so I take 4×1200mg most days and it works as well as my prescription of 70mg for Vyvanse (Stopped taking it a few weeks ago). The other recommendation I have is to take N-acetylcistine (NAC) with Glycine if you want to add some possible longevity to your plan. It assists the cells in making glutathione, so it will only increase the effectiveness of thiamine.

I burped a tiny burp straight after so I am assuming I have too much acid. I will do the test again in the morning to see if its the same. Many years ago I had H Pylori and I believe that is what triggered my reflux, after years of suffering I decided to do keto for weight loss and I was pleasantly surprised that my acid reflux started to ease off and eventually no more attacks, I continued on keto for 3 years, over the last 3 months I started eating and drinking things that I hadn’t had while on keto, that was a big mistake because my reflux has flared up again. Several foods trigger attacks, chocolate, coffee and sugar are the culprits this time around, other foods that I have avoided and I know are bad for me and I will never have again are breads, pasta’s, tomatoes and sparkly wine ( all things I love) It is worth having a food diary to see what the triggers are.

The best thing was gargling with baking soda--it stopped my soar throat right away and for the first time in a long time had no mucus when I woke up.(So I ordered some spray bottles.) SO HAPPY. But I have a question about the HCL I ordered some of the "Pure Betaine" pills from your link, but they say that a serving is two caps to make 500MG. They don't look like the kind you showed in your vid so I am wondering if the dose is different. Do I still only take one with a meal, or should I take two? Also, how large does the meal need to be to take one? What if it is only a piece of fruit for breakfast, or snack? I think I got this way from scarfing down very large meals, so I want to cut way back and maybe just have very small ones throughout the day. What would you recommend for this? I appreciate your time and am very much looking forward to your response.

Oh I'm so glad you found the video. It sounds like you are on the right path to healing. I know you are eager to see results, and you will get them, but don't worry too much about the right/wrong pills or what you take, it will all help. I would suggest just following the suggested amount on the bottle and go from there. You can add more or less as you go... listen to your body. You will know when you've taken too much. I think the pills go better with actual meals and not snacks like you suggested. And it's more important in the beginning to take the pills when you eat protein. So no, I wouldn't take it before say, just a banana... but I would take it before or during a meal with a sandwich, or a burger, etc.. even a salad with protein I would take it. Be mindful of what you eat also... you might have a sensitivity in there you never considered (gluten, dairy, etc). Chances are, like me, it was the wolfing down of food without ever realizing the consequences, and perhaps eating too close too bed, etc... so I have a feeling within a week or two from taking the pills and being more mindful about how/when you eat that you are going to start feeling fan-freaking-tastic again and will have a new outlook on life. Keep me posted! 👊

This was so helpful. I’m currently being treated for gastritis, even though the doctors won’t do an endoscopy until I’ve been on PPIs for a month. I’ve been off and on from those because I hate taking medication, but I’m back on them, and just biting the bullet and taking them for a month to see if I can get it to fix it itself. I do think that it has never been obvious to me until this point that the burning I feel in my tummy when I’m stressed is actually acid. I don’t know what I thought it was before! 🤓 But tummy burning is my number one stress indicator. Anyway, the way you explain things is awesome, I really appreciate it! After I can be off of the PPI, I’m definitely going to look at all of these lifestyle changes and things you talked about. Thank you!

@@topotone Hey man! How you feeling these days? Ive had a terrible sore throat since around 10th of march (I believe my UES got weakened after catching the flu which gave me a fever for 1 day) since then its been almost 2 months and every morning my throat hurts very much every time I swallow :( I went to the ER and he said I had Pharyngitis so got given Azithromycin (Antibiotics) for 3 days but clearly that didn’t help… that was a week ago and now I’ve reduced my dairy intake and cut out wheat and all acidic foods… still my throat is very red and inflamed.. The bicarb spray helps as well as alkaline water all day and some gum, I also sleep in an elevated position but its very sad. I hope to continue this diet for a month at least and see if my throat heals. That is really my only symptom..

You are on the right track but you will need to be patient. Stress is a big part of it too, so trust that you will get better (because you will), and don't worry about that part. Focus on what you can control now and that's what you are eating and when you are eating. Honestly once you eliminate your trigger foods, lessen your meal sizes, don't eat close to bed, and reduce stress, 95% that fixes everyone right up. And if you are like me and are low on acid, the Betaine will work in DAYS. Keep us posted and good luck!

Also don't forget to get proper sleep. Get into a routine of going to bed before midnight. People who work night shift or stay up late or don't get approx. 8 hrs. of sleep usually have gut issues. Sleep is very important for the gut to heal. Also do not eat 3 hours prior to sleep unless you are hypoglycemic.

I guess sleep is indeed a very important issue. As a nurse, my sleep time can be after 9pm, after midnight or even in the morning (after shift), which means no routine at all and leads to an overall imbalance. I don't have any problems with heartburn or stomach pain, but I do feel the soreness in my throat and I keep making that horse sound to "clean" it (maybe LPR). I already take a 2h gap between my last meal and the time I go to sleep. Now, I will stop taking water during my meals and I'll also try the baking soda test and gargling. Chewing my food slower is also a difficult thing for me. I don't smoke nor do I drink alcohol. Only one coffee a day (usually during lunchtime) so, I'm ruling out all the factores that can cause this LPR.

I love your videos! It is sad that I have fought GERD for years and no doctor (GP, ENT, or gastro doctor) has ever checked my acid level in my stomach. It seems that they all just prescribe PPI's anytime there is a reflux problem. I was told by my gastro doctor about 5 years ago that I'd have to be on PPI's the rest of my life. They made me feel worse and after researching them, their side effects (especially long term) scared me to death. I opted to have the LINX procedure which is a magnetic band placed outside the esophagus where the LES sphincter is. It worked beautifully for 2 years but for some reason I am suffering with GERD again so I am going to try the things that you suggest here.

Over 30'000$ on doctor's giving me the runaround in the past 7 years. I still have not been given proper information and treatment. Been living with this since I was 10 and still know one takes my concerns seriously. Now 40. Used to get punished and shunned by family members for some of the symptoms of this illness, as a kid. They chose to be ignorant. This illness has taken a huge toll on my life. Makes me depressed. When I know something can be done to make a difference. Just takes a doctor who care enough and make the time to want to.

Yeah that's frustrating my man. I think what you are learning is that no one can see inside you to know what is truly going on... and like me, I think you are going to have to figure this out for yourself. It sounds scary I know but you have the most information. I think it's a two part solution...1. you have to figure out what's going on, what your triggers are, and to eat in a way that makes sense to you. and #2 you have to take care of your mind. The anxiety that comes with these symptoms is brutal and this is what set me on a spiritual path that has given me peace and helped me get my life back. Hopefully the video gave you some ideas of things to try and you are hopeful for the future. Keep us posted.

I really appreciate you documenting your journey here. I have just started with this problem and was in a total panick at first. Learning about silent Gerd has made me realize thats what I have at the moment. I did your baking soda test and wow you are right! I burped right away so it means i have high acid. Right? The funny thing is I also felt somewhat relieved from stomach pressure! My throat felt better too! Is that supposed to happen?
@TheSAHDLife

Glad you found the videos! Yeah it's frustrating at times, but once you start to figure out what's going on everything will be all good. Yes it implies that you have high acid but you still might want to do it tomorrow just to double check. Ultimately it usually comes down to portion sizes/chewing your food, not eating too close to bed, and identifying the root cause. A lot of times whether high or low acid there is some culprit in our diet... often dairy/gluten. This combined with stress causes all kinds of problems, it's nuts. I don't have personal experience with high acid so you might have to keep digging but I think if you do the tips mentioned in the video you will heal. You might have to be patient as it does take time since we did a lot of damage. Good luck!
