Tree Climber Harry

Күн бұрын

my first youtube video, cutting down of a 50 metre mountain Ash tree.
these trees had been damaged by another fallen tree and also had decay at the base. being so close to a house unfortunately they had to be removed.
this is the largest tree ive ever removed and it was great fun.

The tree was a eucalyptus regnans aka mountain ash. It had been damaged from another fallen tree and it also had decay at the base. It is sad that trees have to be removed but it was imperative that these were. They were not safe!

That truly was an epic fell. Great job and it's a shame 60ish people managed to hit the dislike button instead of the thumbs up like everyone else who does this work and can appreciate the skill and guts it takes to safely remove these damaged hazardous trees. Great edit work too on all the footage.

Just some perspective: E. regnans can grow to 100 m and is considered to be the tallest hardwood in the world. One tree of this species that CSIRO measured in Southern Tasmania was 5.4 m in diameter. So this is not a large example compared to old growth (>110 year old) trees.

He's now his own boss, has his own company and is showing his son how to climb these trees. he know has bad knees and constant ankle pain.

tetsi0815 hey yeah so we use a Big slingshot to shoot a line into the tree, set up a climbing line and a lowering line usually at highest point of the tree.the lowering line runs through a pulley and down to the ground through a friction device then the other end ties off to the branch we cut and so on. :)
