I know Anita is now living in Spain (not sure if her family has been able to leave Cuba). I’ve followed her videos to share with my parents; very informative and descriptive. This episode too was very informative and am glad it’s been very well translated to English language for more to understand the horrific situation in Cuba. I’ve heard it’s worse- we continue to hope the situation improves as soon as possible. Such a shame, it was a tremendously progressive and innovative island nation, hope it could return to what it was and beyond

Another weird thing about this store is that the ordinary German bratwurst costs 28 a package of 4 while a valuable delicacy as the Serano jamon costs equally as much per kilo!

I stay instantly shocked from the very first image from the scarcity presented on the shelves. In Greece about 15 years ago and before the financial crisis a very well known Super Market brand called Marinopoulos took a turn to bankruptcy but since it was a very big thing to close suddenly all of its stores, there was a while of at least 10 or more months when there were negotiations to and fro about the fate of the company. During that time all assistants in all stores along the country used to go at work as if nothing was happening but the catch was that there was almost nothing in the storehouses left to sell. Except for water. So the assistants the whole working day had nothing else to do other than packing the bottles of water which sometimes were so few that were actually stacked one by one with a 30 cm distance between them. The spectacle was frickishly sad and the stores were always empty while there were thousands of people passing outside and never going in. Even though they were always open they looked like ghost towns. It was like being in Romania right before 1990. The first picture of the inside you showed lit an instant flash of those days inside these stores of hell.

It's not really the government's fault even. They get exploited awfully by the West. And have had a blockade for decades. The US goes out of its way to negatively effect socialist countries out of fear it'll spread.
