Attics, kitchens (which are finally becoming part of the 'tour,') bathroom/loo/WC, and the secret passages are all parts of these old houses, castles, palaces, etc. that I would pay extra to see. I love that the "downstairs" is also becoming a more common place to see! I was at Versailles in the 80's, we were walking outside and noticed there appeared to be stacks of furniture in some of the windows of the top floor. My grandmother and I discussed how much we would love to go up there and see what they had!

Scone Palace is a marvel. I was there in the 1980s and was allowed to play their organ. It was a complete joy! Thank you Julie for visiting here time and again. Gary❤

Julie, a lot of these places could really make some good income by offering a unique & separate tour. People absolutely love and are intrigued by attics, cellars/basements, and the various unfinished outbuildings. And if possible, a glimpse from the rooftop. It's not like these spaces need to be empty or clean. Because it's interesting seeing years of antiques, relics and the odds and ends that end up being stored in these areas. Even if these tours are only offered a few times throughout the year. Very fascinating and interesting.

Hello from Salem, Oregon. Lady Hinchingbrooke, I just saw an article that the King is going to allow public tours of Balmoral Castle, for the first time. Perhaps you could take your cameras in, record the tour, and share it with your viewers. It would be most interesting. Thank You for all you do.

Although this may be on a much larger scale, Biltmore in Asheville , NC USA has done this. I remember when the stables were nothing but an ice creamery and you would walk through and see where they used to keep their horses and their cars. Now it is a very good café with large bathrooms for the crowds and very nice bookstore and souvenir shop.

I hope they are successful. Reliving the past and honoring it's origins brings new beginnings to continue to be proud of life's accomplishments. If we can't be happy for others, there's little chance that we can overcome life's struggles in our own situations. Life is truly beautiful.😊

That’d be a lovely place for Shakespearean Faire. I see a chapel, and plenty of ground for hosting weddings. I’d also mention as far as accommodations go, were I coming to visit a castle, I’d want to stay in the castle because…castle! Regardless of how fabulous a rebuild might be, it is not a castle. Doing both might work. I really love their garden shop ideas. The grounds are stunning! The tartan maze is brilliant! 😍

Hello Julie: Beautiful video and tour of Scone Castle (BTW, you have no idea how much I wanted to be there to partake in those wonderful scones!) The countess and her son impressed me as very nice and down-to-earth aristocrats. One of the hallmarks of a man or a woman of good breeding is a natural politeness devoid of affection or arrogance; these ones being the hallmarks of a snob (i.e: a pretentious idiot) Greetings from Argentina 😍

I could see accomodation in one of the wings of the stable block. That would be a massive undertaking though, creating the bathrooms alone would be mind blowing! But, IMO the tourists would be lining up. Those scones looked so good! If it wasn’t 2am here, i’d be in the kitchen 🤤

How do these families continue to generate the revenue to maintain, continue, their estates? That has been the demise of so many estates. It would be so interesting to know what businesses the families are involved in that generate the revenue to maintain their amazing heritage.

Why don't they use the stable block as a stable for visitors who love horses and bring their horses. Visitors with horses could stay in the units available for rented rooms and their horses could stay in the stable. It would be lovely for them to go for a ride. Also, there could be horses giving carriage rides to guests that don't have horses, but just want a carriage ride.

What a lovely future plan they have for that stable area. One thing I think all these grand estates should consider as verbiage. Instead of referring to the people visiting as tourists (because this word, although accurate, can be a bit off-putting), maybe the phrase or wording of day guest. It makes the overall experience feel more elevated, just like the estate.
