It's more for "mature" games. Adult only games are a risk for the companies since it is associated mostly with porn games. And all consoles forbid adult only games on their platform.

The full-on hardcore blocking (where you can't even see the store page of a blocked game anymore) started in december 2020. before that everything was fine and dandy, and there were multiple ways to (somewhat) easily bypass the few light blocks that already existed. Nowadays? No such luck. Can't even redeem keys of blocked games bought in other countries. The wishlist bypass no longer works either.

it's used in every press conference, live event etc as well, no matter if in Europe or the US, because those broadcasts are global. so if a new Playstation, or Xbox event happens, or at the beginning of the Game Awards etc., this will be played globally. other rating disclaimers like the ESRB or the japanese CERO will also be shown, but those don't have an announcer

Its the ESRB rating for video games, but the UK version of it over there in Europe is called PEGI (thats an i). Instead of just seeing the logo like the US version, they show the logo and have a guy say PEGI 18 is the equivalent of a ESRB Mature Rated game.

I actually didn't know this "Pegi 18" sound existed until watching this but it's because I don't play video games in whatever regine that game rating system exists in. Where I live we don't use the PEGI system, my rating system is the ESRB here in KKona land and other parts of the world. Like the EC, E, E10, T, M and A. Where I live we don't use the 3, 7, 12, 16 and 18 system. I guess in European countries they use that rating system. I knew that PEGI existed but I don't hear it when I play video games cause I'm not in that regine. But it's cool that people remembered that and Pogged when he said it in the tiktok! ❤
